This hotel was more than we had hoped for.  Affordable, clean, great location, and Gerald, our wonderful host who cooks amazing breakfasts of waffles and crepes and provides all the information you will need to navigate the beautiful Quebec City and surrounding areas.  I give it an A+.

I chose this B & B based on the two 5-star reviews below. I have resisted writing this review since last September, because I was so upset by my experience. I brought my mom on her first trip to Quebec City, made a reservation online, called ahead to let Gerald that we would be arriving around 9 pm since we were driving. He assured us that that would be fine. Upon our arrival a 9:10 we were greeted with the most terse hotel welcome I have ever experienced. We were berated for our late arrival, rushed through the payment process, insulted multiple times for asking questions while he marked up a map of the city. I tried to give Gerald the benefit of the doubt that he might be tired, but it got much worse... sarcasm, condescension, aggression and mean-spiritedness. My mom was visible upset, as well, but she didn't want to make a fuss and we were shown up to our room. This was the first time we had an opportunity to talk alone. We were both very upset by his aggressive treatment of us. We returned downstairs and explained that we did not feel safe nor welcomed by him and we needed to leave. It took us 30 minutes and countless insults to close our account there and leave. Phew! What a first impression of Quebec City! It was all up from there, including a charming and lovely B&B and concierge who opened their doors to us at 11:30pm that evening.

Chose this B&B based on the previous review, and couldn't agree more...  Gerald's English was not perfect so there was a little bit of confusion in the first interaction, but he was a funny, charming fellow, and extremely friendly; exactly the kind of person I hope to find running a B&B in a foreign city.  We showed up without a real agenda, on realizing this he took 15 minutes to mark up a tourist map with suggested walking tour and great local suggestions for bars/restaurants/farmers market, etc...  The location was also very convenient to the rest of the city, just below the hilltop old town part of the city.  If we go back to Quebec City any time soon that's where we'll be returning to.
