getting the fix price steak is a terrific value and taste! You get soup of the day, simple salad, steak frites with a fanatic mustard type sauce, and two cream puffs filled with ice cream, coffee.... starting for like 25 bucks.
It was delicious and loved every morsel!! -
Review from Paul L.
Very affordable fixed menu restaurant with excellent quality food. The medium rare steak was perfectly cooked, as were the fries. D=Fats and friendly service and we were seated in no time. Looks like a place where mainly the locals go, so they know what is good. Price for a complete 3 course menu was Can $65 including drinks (which included good wines). Tables are a bit on small side, but great interiolr decoration gives pleasant atmosphere.

Much has been said - I absolutely agree with the reviewer that said do the prixe fixe menu which we did for lunch. Steak Frites with a FANTASTIC mustard sauce ( a hint of curry?), delicious fries and a fine if simple salad. Great profiteroles and coffee to wash it all down - all that for $20 each! Great for a lunch and from what I have read here great in the evenings too. Great professional service to boot an altogether tremendous experience.

This restaurant is located on the busy Rue St. Jean. We arrived at around 8pm and there was a line out the door for a Saturday night. Everyone in line was French-speaking so we had the impression that this place is frequented by locals who all seemed to be prepared with a reservation. As we did not, we were given the option to sit at the bar without a wait. Our server from the bar was very nice and attentive. In general, the Quebecois are friendly and happy to offer recommendations. Staff was willing to speak French with me but also comfortable with English as well.
Here, EVERYONE had the steak. The steak meal is a prix fix type of meal. You have your choice of 5,6, or 7 ounces. It includes a nice salad, a soup, fries with the steak and dessert and coffee for around $25 depending on the size of steak you pick.
The steak is the typical French style of steak that is thinner than what Americans are accustomed to. It is served with a delicious buttery wine type of sauce that goes well with dipping your fries.
For the dessert, it is a french choux pastry filled with vanilla ice cream and an amazingly rich chocolate sauce. You get two of them!
My husband and I had a view of the diners and some people wiped their entire plates clean.
This was a very enjoyable meal as we got to learn a little more about Quebecois culture from our server and eat with the locals. It seemed like their idea of comfort food on a weekend night.
I'm really surprised to see that so few people how reviewed this restaurant. I would definitely recommend it. It was a great value and a great way to do as the locals. On this busy street the following day, most of the other restaurants were fairly empty but not this one. There was no line but still a full house of happy eaters. Definitely go here if you're in Quebec city. -

It's a good place to experience entrecote. My steak was cooked well, but the butter in the sauce was overwhelming. I enjoyed the crispy fries.

This is not a traditional steakhouse even though there is almost only one item on the menu: steak. Their famous entrecote dish is a classic French steak-frites. The meat is not as tender as a filet mignon but it is very tasty.
Mine was cooked as ordered and it came with little matchstick fries that were good and crispy.
I have to say that the real star of the meal and the main reason to eat there is the mustard sauce. It is to die for, ask for an extra! You should go for the prix fixe menu that includes a soup, a salad, the profiteroles and a coffee/tea.
It might look quite touristy but lots of locals eat there, especially for lunch. -
Review from Ken T.
I was recommended by locals to come here for a nice piece of steak. It was not the same as what you can get at great steakhouses of New York City, but the steak was nonetheless flavorful and satisfying. Most people sit at white linen tables. But, it is also a great place for single business traveler since it has bar seats. Staffs were friendly.
