I went to this place not knowing entirely that it was this place (if you get what I mean). It doesn't really advertise it's name that well (maybe that's for a reason), and after reading the previous 2 Yelp reviews I would probably have avoided it had I known.
Anyway though, it looked okay from the outset, and so I decided to go in. I had the 2 person special dinner ($10.50 pp) which consisted of chicken chow mein, chicken chop suey, sweet and sour pork and deep fried prawns. It was okay. The food was a bit tasteless, the pork was a little fatty, though the deep fried prawns were okay. Nothing special, and nothing you couldn't get in a take away for probably cheaper.
However it was labour day evening and many other restaurants were closed, so this just presented itself at the right time. It was okay value for money, and we got a lot of food, but they could have done a lot better. Especially in Canada's oldest Chinatown. -

We checked into the Empress for our 10th Anniversary celebration and headed to Kwong Tung for dinner. It has been over 15 years since I was here and I had great food and service then.
We were hungry and this time we ordered three very simple dishes: 3 meat hot pot, chicken chow fun and chicken fried rice.
The hot pot arrived with no rice. 10 minutes later the chow fun arrived and I asked the server if we could get the rice quickly. She said it is being prepared. 5 minutes later I asked another waiter to check on our rice as our two dishes were no longer hot. He said he would but never came back. 5 minutes later, we had consumed the chow fun and 3/4 of the hot pot but the fried rice still had not arrived.
I waved to the main waiter at the counter and he came. I asked him to cancel the rice. He looked at me incrediously and said he will get it to us quickly, this is after he has seen we have almost finished the two dishes. I iterated that our food was almost gone and the rice was not required. He said okay, went to the kitchen and then came back and said the order was canceled.
The hot pot was pretty good. The chow fun was the weakest attempt at fried noodles with bean sprouts and a couple of inches of green onions. We were hungry so we ate the two dishes.
The lady waitress picked up our dishes and no one brought our ticket. There were 3 wait people on the floor and 3 tables to serve. And they could not accomplish the task!
New people had shown up before we left and we watched how they were served. People sat at the table for 5 to 10 minutes before a server would ask if they were ready to order.
We went to the counter to pay and I see the ticket for chicken chow fun was $13! The menu for beef chow fun was $9.50. It was not worth the argument. There was no apology for the missing friend rice.
Cannot recommend this place. Please don't make same mistake I made by not reading yelp review before going!!! Go next door...all Chinese people there...we should have looked. -

Yuck ! This restanrant is horrible. We went to this restaurant for dinner during our recent Victoria trip. The food was awful. We left with the food unfinished cause we could not swallow. There service was equally bad. There was essential no service at all. Never go there.

Yes I know it was Chinese New Year's Eve and Yes it was only 4:45PM but we were hungry.
We walked up the stairs and the dining room in front of us was lavishly decorated, for the NYE party, but we didn't get a nice table , we got one that was in the far corner the tables without the table cloths
The 2 other occupied tables were also in the same corner.
We got the middle table which was jammed in so tight I had to sit on my chair and crab-walk -like Dr Ziborg (Futurama)- into my slot.
The waitress threw 2 menus on the table and left and my menu stuck to the table. My wife asked the young waiter to wipe our table and he bent down and asked where the sticky stuff was exactly.
Sure enough he wiped only the small area infront of me and my wife told him to clean the whole area and he cleaned just the half of the table that we were sitting at with his sopping wet rag.
Why didn't we run? Well, we were hungry!
We ordered a simple combo dinner and the items were brought out in 5 minute intervals and flung on our table by the surly waitress.
After we were finished the waitress asked if we got our pork dish, which we didn't but the price was not adjusted accordingly.
Food was not great but as I said 'we were hungry'.
Service was bad, but they were saving their friendly face for the party later.
Weird? Definitely!
Bad timing on our part? Probably.
Would I recommend Kwong Tung Seafood Restaurant?
Only if you enjoy mediocre food and bad service.
That was the first time in many years we did not leave a tip. -

Great atmosphere and food. The waiters were very polite and attentive, cheap and affordable.

The service is ok. But the seafood is not fresh.
