Taiwanese supermarket. Only one of its kind in the area. Lots of stuff u won't find anywhere else (ex. bamboo-shoot biscuits, bbt mix and pearls).

Regular supermarket aisles in the front. Costco like aisles in the rear of the store. Food and drink sampling table operated by pleasant yet slightly aggressive lady. Mandarin music playing in the background for your enjoyment while u shop.

All their prices come in bulk discount grades. U can easily spend a fortune here if you're a big snacker like me.

Bags arent free, so bring your own.

Taiwanese food extravaganza! Everything Taiwanese you can think of, is here at Kuohua Trading Co.!

From milk teas to frozen onion pancakes to dried foods to chips to candies to instant noodles to sauces to all the bubble tea making things you need to make your own shop!

I enjoyed the bubble tea syrups you can buy (I love green apple). All you do is brew some tea or use plain water and mix in some syrup and viola! Bubble tea made at home. You can also try your bubble tea handy work at make the boba too. I found adding some sugar to the boiling water adds some sweetness to the boba - be careful not to overcook or undercook it - it's a skill I still have not mastered sadly. You can find the coconut jellies, bubble tea cups and straws and even cup sealers here as well!

If you're in the area, a must-stop to see what Taiwanese goodies you can take home.

This is definitely the place to shop for good gifts! They have a wide selection of snacks and different types of Taiwanese food. They offer more discount with the more you buy (warehouse style- very much like Costco).

I've loved Taiwanese snacks but haven't found a place with decent price, this is probably the best alternative in Richmond.

They have different flavored chips, jelly, biscuits, bottled drinks, noodles, Taiwanese specialty foods (a WHOLE aisle to choose from). Most of their food packaging is beyond "nice". You won't need wrapping papers for giving them as gifts.

Funny they have an aisle for DIY BBT items!

I would definitely return for re-stocking my snacks :)

We were expecting your typical Chinese supermarket, but Kuohua turned out to be a Taiwanese market, selling drinks, tons of snacks, noodles, and other pre-packaged items that you ordinarily wouldn't find anywhere else. There are no fresh produce or meat. A lot of their product is from Taiwan. You can also buy in bulk, similar to Costco Warehouse, to save some extra money. Prices are very reasonable and may even beat the neighboring competition, if you know how to shop.

Every Taiwanese goodie you can think of could most likely found here. I'm almost positive of it.

Well, not quite, but if you are looking for something to consume Taiwanese and it's food, this is the place to go.

    Konyaku by the brickfull!
Frozen green onion pancakes and other wonderfully tasting pastries.
Crackers, cookies, dried fruits and other snacks in the middla aisles.

Want to make Bubble tea?  All the ingredients can be found here!

Like so many things that I heart about Taiwan (including Vivian Hsu and Hsu Chi) I must say.  There is still alot to learn and try.  So if you are not Taiwanese but plan on going there?  Check this place out. You'll get an idea of just how neat the little island can be.

"Good food, good life."  I'm diggin their motto AND their store!

This warehouse sized store specializes in Taiwanese products and I am beyond ecstatic!  The first time I went, I was literally a kid in a candy store.  I was born in Taiwan, and emigrated to N. America at a young age, but still remember many of the Taiwanese treats I used to eat when when I was mini-me.  I know you'll have a great time wandering up and down the aisles choosing snacks to try (you save more if you buy more according to the specials they have--bought my munchies for about $1-$1.50), discovering new teas to try, noodles to eat, beverages to drink, etc. This is a great place to go to if you're tired of checking out the same snacks over at Yaohan or if you need to buy a hostess gift that's different and budget conscience:  I found some boxed vinegars made of different fruits (plum, pineapple, etc.), teas in glass jars, cookies in boxed sets...I can go on and on.  They also have healthy snacks (preservative free with no additives like goji berries, dehyrdated apples, plums, kumquats) in resealable bags which are great for you busybodies who are on the go, but care about what you refuel yourselves with.  Best of all, if you buy over a certain amount (in our case, over $20), they give you an option of choosing one of their products to take home and try.  I left with the hazelnut wafer cookies I was eyeing earlier, but had convinced myself not to purchase because of my "healthkick". Looks like it wasn't written in the stars that day:
    Healthkick 0, Glutton 1

By the way, even though there are condiments, noodles and grains here, there are no produce or meats.
