This is a great spot for the recreational to elite cyclist. they have everything, they care for everyone, and their mechanics KNOW their stuff. They have two senior mechanics who are both very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience on road and mtn bikes, so they can fix any problem you bring them.
The president of Kunstadt is always in the store, serving customers (or sometimes BBQing) so it's nice to see that small-store orientation.
This is one of their smaller shops, but it has LOTS of stuff. The basement in the winter time is FULL of used ski equipment and in the summer the floor is full of bikes and tennis gear. They have really good tuning and stringing equipment.
Kunstandt also does group rides for road cyclists once a week from this store and from their Kanata store. Friendly people in small groups. The Kanata store ride is a bit more serious than the Glebe ride if you are looking for a more challenging groupe, but they are both around 40-60k -

Needed to tweak my boot just a little more and visited again. Rod is the man. You can't get service like this anywhere else. I spent just a few bucks on this visit and he was more than happy to spend an hour getting my boots just right! Thanks Rod and the whole staff at Kunstadt.

Further to my ealier post of June, after my tune up, the rear tire started rubbing on the kickstnd about 3 days later. I took it in and they told me they didn't have the right size kickstand for that tire when they put it on but now they did and could replace it. I don't know why they never told me when I originally questioned that there wasn't enough clearance when I had picked it up. They had just assured me that 2 mm was enough clearance. Now they were telling me that they knew it would be a problem. So they replaced it but my new tire got damaged and the wheel was now out of alignment. Then my gears were skipping after just a few more days. I was frankly tired of dealing with them but at the end of summer, with gears skipping and wheel wobbling, a good friend who is a very serious cyclist, assured me that Kunstadt is one of the best. I decided to give them on more chance and I went in and spoke to the manager (I think he might be new because I had dealt with different manager before) and told him the whole story, I told him I needed my gears fixed properly and my wheel fixed and it should be done for free given that it all started with the severly botched tune up. To my delight he was very responsive and committed to having it finished that day by 4:00 that day - and he did. It feels like I just got my bike back. I am now raising my rating to 3 out of 5 for his efforts.
