I just wanted to write a short review on this establishment. Recently my girlfriend and I went to the ski and snowboard show in Ottawa, located in landsdown park and Kunstadt Sports was one of the sponsors there. They treated my girlfriend and I like total celebrities, they tended to every one of our needs, helped us try new snowboarding gear, taught us a little about snowboarding and the prices were off the hook. 30-50% off every single thing we got. In addition to the hospitality we received at the snowboard show, we received just the same at their local store on Bank Street, when we were told to visit them because a pair of snowboard boots which were sold out at the snowboard show might be available at their Bank street location. When we arrived at the Bank Street store near the Beer Store in Glebe, we were welcomed with a generous greeting and an associate immediately helped us out. At this time my girlfriend was very saddened about the fact that the pair of boots she wanted from the snowboard show were sold out, and noticing this one of the associates at the store felt very bad and offered her the same boots but a newer model for the same 30% off deal which she would have got at the snowboard show. Absolutely remarkable, the day ended well, and my girlfriend stopped crying, so thank you Kundstadt for doing that. I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT, and you will forever have our business.

Call me childish, but I became intrigued by Kunstadt Sports purly because I thought the name was vaguely dirty. I know, I am THAT lame. My wife, the mature one in our family, was looking to get more active and wanted to scope out bikes. So, we dropped by Kunstadt's and I was totally impressed by this store. First of all, it is not the kind of store you shop at if you are planning to "dabble" in a sport. Kunstadt is aimed at people who take their sport seriously. For instance, my wife was looking for a cheap (less than $100) bike to get her around the neighbourhood. Kunstadt sells its OWN brand of bikes starting over $200. As for its skiis, I am not much of a skiier, but when you sell a brand used in World Cup events, you are waaay over my head. Ottawa is a very active city and it is difficult to drive around town and not see someone jogging, cycling and - when winter hits - skating or skiing. Kunstadt appears to service that market - the serious amateur/verging on pro but can't afford to take the time off work athelete.

History

Established in 1988

Kunstadt Sports was started by Eric & Ron Kunstadt in the basement of their parent's house in Kanata during 1988. After fives years of developing our customer base we signed our first lease at 462 Hazeldean Road in 1993 and then expanded to purchase the property and operate a second location at 1583 Bank Street in 1999. Our latest expansion happened during the summer of 2009, where we opened a store in the Glebe in an historic building which housed the popular Olympic Ski & Tennis Shop for over four decades.  This is a very exciting third location and we look forward to carrying on the tradition of selling sports equipment  for many decades to come at 680 Bank Street in the Glebe.
