I remember Kung Fu Tacos from Off the Grid so I was pretty stoked when I heard they would be parked at my campus.

Service was nice. Pretty quick too.

I ordered a Nun Chuk Chicken burrito ($8) so I could save half for later. Burrito is decently sized and has good flavor. Meat is not consistent in the way that I don't get a piece in every bite but once I actually get a bite, I'm satisfied. Slightly sweet but savory. Very Asian fusion.

They were not selling Oui Oui Macarons at the time which I was a little sad about but I was promised macarons for next time.

Will come back. The chicken salad sounds interesting.

I ordered two roast duck tacos and one asian asada taco, the total came out to $9.50. AIYA, why are food tucks so expensive for such a small amount of food?!?

The roast duck was my favorite, I love that the duck juices got soaked up by the tortilla by the time I got back to my desk and ate it.  Asian asada wasn't memorable.

I tried Kung Fu tacos for the first time at the Fort Mason Off the Grid.  TERRIBLE!  I tried both the chicken and the steak.  I thought a long line might somehow correlate to good food.  Nope.

I'm not sure what's worse... the fact that they were served cold or that they were bland all but for the cilantro.... or that I waited in an incredibly long line to be served cold and bland tacos.

Also, mine looked nothing like the photos other users have posted.  Rather than give smaller than usual portions, they should have just fessed up and said they were "sold out."

Tried this spot out since my coworkers and I discovered the food truck alley on Mission. Always heard really great things about these tacos.

Problem is i'm not the biggest fan of tacos. These tacos come at $2.50 - $3.50 a pop. Two tortillas with some really flavorful insides. I got the asian asade steak and the veggie medley. Both were delicious... I ate them with only one of the tortillas since it seemed like overkill to include TWO tortillas. The fillings were good, the tortillas eh.

Glad I tried it, but I don't think this will be on my cravings list.

Just tried this place for the first time, at the food truck stop at 1st and Mission. I hadn't heard of it before, but I was looking for something delicious and warm, but not a huge portion. All I saw was, "Taco," and I was sold. Asian? Why not?

I had the mu shu veggie and the nun chuck chicken tacos. Both were really good and flavorful, with a fascinating bright orange "Asian salsa" on top. Just the right balance between sweet, spicy, and savory. I am a big veggie fan, so I can see why some people say the veggie taco is bland - if you are looking for something to cover up the flavor of the vegetables, you will probably be disappointed. If you like mu shu and vegetables, it's really delicious! At $2.50 each, it was a $5 well-spent.

I karate chopped a duck taco while visiting the Upper Haight Off The Grid (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  This unique fusion of Chinese and Mexican was a perfect punctuation mark to a great food truck experience.

The meat was flavorful, and packed a wallop of taste.  It was nice to have a street taco with a filling which was unique and yummy.

I actually felt cooler after eating this taco.

Nomz nomz nomz! If I were to give a wooden board for the tacos, the Asian Asada and Roasted Duck definitely cut its in half because it's THAT good!

The Asian Asada was juicy! Meat was tender and definitely has that asian cuisine taste. If you're a steak lover, you should definitely give this a try! Don't forget the siracha for an extra kick

The Roasted Duck.. Too good! With pieces of mango, delish! It definitely has that asian field to it which is a double plus!

I highly recommend you to try the truck out! Taco ranges from 2.50 - 3.50! SO GOOD! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

    2 stars for the service.

Placed order at 12:30pm.  2 tacos handed to me at 12:55pm.  25 minutes to make 2 tacos?  Really??

All the other trucks on 1st and Mission were churning through customers at a good pace.  Not Kung Fu Tacos.

Had the beef and chicken tacos, which were both excellent.  So if you don't mind the wait...

they are tasty, but way over priced. i had the chicken and roast duck. i don't understand how the roast duck taco costs $3.50! they are small and there is hardly any meat inside. they probably take one roast duck which costs less than $20 and make 20-25 tacos with it. it's worth a try but just too expensive for what you get.

Came across these guys on a random night walking down 2nd, saw them in a line with other trucks in an alley. The guy running the truck is super nice, even gave me a free taco. All of their tacos are a must have, the price is super cheap so if you are hungry I would try getting all 3 types of tacos! Seems like its one guy with his parents manning the stove. Great food, would go back in a heartbeat.

FAST and DELICIOUS!! I went just as the lunch line was starting at the truck stop location and ordered the asian asada and the roasted duck! Damn, was I blown away. They meat and fillings were really juicy. The duck was a bit oily, but that's because it's duck. They put so much meat in it, I needed a fork to pick off the fallen pieces. I wish I could get it on hardshell, or just get the fillings and put it in an lettuce wrap.

The Roast Duck taco is pretty good and definitely worth a try at least once. The other tacos are less memorable and really don't provide anything special.

Unfortunately, the taco sizes are very small for the price and you'll need to order about 4 of these for a decent sized lunch. If they either reduced prices or increased the taco sizes, I might give them another star.

Normally, I'm a fan of food trucks and this one so nicely came to visit our workplace today to cater lunch. But sad to say I was very underwhelmed!

I ordered one of each of the taco types they had on the menu:
    Asian Asada
    Nun Chuk Chicken
    Mu Shy Veggies
    Wu Shu Char Sui
    Roast Duck

Many of my coworkers found them to be tasty, and I have to admit the Asian Asada was my favorite. But on the whole, the quality of the meats offered were quite low (the duck was chopped so finely it didn't even resemble duck meat) and their double tortilla method hardly made up for the tiny sprinkling of meat inside. They really needed more fresh veggies and maybe a condiment bar to spruce up their offerings. I wished I liked the food better, but perhaps I will have better luck next time I try them!

Oh no, not another Food Truck you say?  Kung Fu Tacos is actually pretty good.  I came by to Off The Grid Upper Haight to give their Fusion Tacos a try.

My friend and I ordered 3 of their Specialty Tacos (http://www.yelp.com/us...):

2x Roast Duck Tacos ($3) - Crispy Skinned Roast Duck Served in a rolled Chinese Pancake with Green Onion and Hoisin Sauce.

1x Wu Shu Char Sui Taco ($3) - Glazed BBQ Pork dressed with house secret Siracha Sauce topped with Mango Salsa and Green Papaya.

I guess the most disappointing thing was that the Roast Duck Tacos were in regular tortillas and not Chinese pancakes.  They were still good though and the BBQ Pork taco was even better.  I think the best way to describe their taste is to think of the buns from Chairman Bao but in Taco form.  If you've had those before, they're pretty similar in flavor.

I'll have to stop over at OTG again to try their other tacos.  Their prices aren't too bad and their Fusion Tacos are very interesting in both taste and presentation.

I love this twist on the already lovable taco truck phenom. Instead of plain old beef or chicken, they've got roast duck, bbq pork, and all sorts of Asiany sauces. For $2.50-3.50 each, sampling is a must.

Service was kung fu-fast, as there was no line at 1:15pm during the M5 Off The Grid.

The downer moment was when I picked up my Nun Chuk Chicken taco, and a big stream of grease came pouring out the other end (it wasn't that natural, yummy meat-flavored grease, it was kinda sweet and odd tasting). The duck and pork tacos were not as bad; the thick sriracha sauce and chunky mango salsa were great accompaniments. I think I'll just play it safe and stick with their veggie options next time!

Roast Duck- Their signature taco with hoisin sauce, mango salsa, and green onion. The taco tasted bland to me. I think the ingredients don't stand up against the 2 corn tortillas. At $3.50 it's expensive for the small taco.

When you hear or read the word "Kung Fu", the following folks come immediately to mind

    Bruce L
    Jackie C
    Jet L

    (no they are not yelpers)

But let's not forget the slightly lesser known ones like

    Sammo H
    Bolo Y
    Donnie Y

and of course their masters of the craft, the people they trained with, before our time.

Bottom line, the word insinuates ass kicking and ass kickers.

    Or ass kicking ass kickers.

When referring to the amount of effort and passion by a master chef in preparing a Chinese feast (or a dish), they say he puts in a lot of "kung fu", or is a test of his "kung fu" (kung food). It is not just in the efforts, but also the results.

I like tacos. I appreciate fusion. But somehow this phenomenon of the food truck trend is mostly lost on me so far.

So with an ass kicking name for a taco truck, it was a call to try.

One of each of Asian Asada, Wushu Cha Shu, and Roast Duck

At least two of them had mango chunks in them. Ingredients and overall combinations worked, and were tasty. I think the catered private party the KFT truck showed up for loved it even more especially when it was all pre-paid for.

Asian Asada tasted more like a cross between lightly seasoned teriyaki beef and bo luc lac. Pretty good, but no wow factor.

Cha Shu could have benefited more from finding a good source of Cantonese BBQ pork with a bit more char and tendons/fat (just a personal preference). Wu shu means martial arts, but Wu Shu Cha Shu had no kickin' going on, let alone ass.

Duck? Absolutely no relation to Peking Duck or Cantonese roast duck.

    Tasty fu$n tacos

but these just didn't kick my a$$.

Kung Fu Tacos' tacos are delicious, but it's hard to say they're worth the $2.50 - $3.50 each taco that are slightly only larger than a palm. It's about 4-5 inch long with a decent amount of meat for the size. Three or four bites and the taco's gone. One taco is definitely not enough for a lunch so be prepared to spend at least ~$8 here.

Asian Asada, Nan Chuk Chicken, Wu Shu Char Siu, Roast Duck tacos! Order these four tacos and they'll write you up for a meat platter. It seems like that's a popular choice among people.

The Asian Asada and Nan Chuck Chicken are delicious, but the chicken taco is pretty wet. I didn't like the Char Siu tacos that much. The roast duck is definitely a taco that you'll need to try. All the tacos are good, but trying all four together just does an overkill on my tastebuds. There isn't anything here that doesn't taste good.

Kudos for their creative twist on Asian inspired tacos. My favorite is their specialty Roast Duck taco and I'm usually pretty bummed when they run out (which has happened RIGHT when I got to the window, oh what luck).

I've also tried their Wu Shu Char Siu, Asian Asada, and Nun Chuck Chicken. Though the flavors of said tacos were good, they aren't as memorable as the Roasted Duck. I was actually a little disappointed in the Wu Shu Char Siu. Its "secret Sriracha sauce" was unnoticeable (I can't handle spicy and I couldn't even taste any there) and overall tasted too similar to the Roasted Duck therefore becomes underwhelmed in comparison.

I'd say go for that Roasted Duck taco......before they run out.

The bf and I shared a Wu Shu Char Siu taco (BBQ pork in a house secret Sriracha sauce topped with mango salsa and green papaya) and a Nun Chuck Chicken taco (chicken in a garlic ginger sauce topped with cilantro, carrots, and sweet & sour salsa). Both tacos were good. The meats were nicely marinated. I topped my chicken taco with some Sriracha hot sauce which gave it an extra kick. The chicken was a bit dry though. I loved the mango salsa on the char siu taco...there is just something I love about sweet and savory combinations.

I also love that the food comes out lightning fast! I'm used to having to wait awhile for my food from food trucks...but not from Kung Fu Tacos!

I wish they had the Roast Duck taco...I will definitely have to try it next time!

    Side Note:
They were also selling Oui Oui macarons...honestly those macarons didn't look very appetizing. Maybe it was the two flavors that they had out (Earl Grey and Salted Caramel) that just had really drab colors. I think what would have really helped was if they had more colorful macarons so that the display would have looked a lot better. I hope they are taking note of this suggestion!

I'm really enjoying this whole food truck trend and I especially enjoy Off the Grids.

I had the Wu Shu Char Siu roast pork topped with mango salsa, hoisin sauce, and green papaya and the Mu Shu Veggie shitake and cloud ear mushrooms stir fried with carrots, onions, and cabbage. topped with hoisin sauce and asian salsa.. The Wu Shu Char Siu is definitely the one to go with, the hoison sauce and mango salsa pack much more flavor than the veggie taco.

I wouldn't say Kung Fu Tacos have the best taco out there, but if I come across them again, I'll be down to grab another Wu Shu Char Siu.

Finally got to try this food truck since the line wasn't insane this time around.
Goto item is definitely the roast duck taco served with hoisin sauce, mango salsa, and green onion. I never would have thought to add chinese style roast duck with fruit but then again I never thought I would be getting chinese food served to me in a taco either so I live and I learn.
The Nun Chuck chicken tacos served with a garlic ginger sauce, cilantro, carrots, and sweet&sour salsa were good as well with a mildy salty/spicy kick to them although it didn't have the same distinction of flavor that the roast duck taco had. Each taco is 2-3 bites so this is more of a snack truck over a full food truck however the tacos are all packed with flavor so I was not disappointed.
Overall impression is this is a must try for a quick bite and make sure to order at least 1-2 of the duck taco's.

Tiny but tasty, if you are a big eater, do yourself a favor and order 5-6 tacos or you will be hungry.  The meat is only about a tablespoon worth with some nice garnishes.

I had the duck tacos $3 each was really really good.  Again one taco is more of an appetizer.

The Carne Asada taco $2 was also delicious.

The chicken taco $2 had a strange orange ginger garlic garnish that looked strange, but tasted really good.

    Fast service and great eats!

I located Kung Fu Tacos at Off The Grid: UN Plaza and it was my second experience with food trucks in SF. Of the 6 trucks there, this had the most interesting sounding menu and a reasonable line so that's how we met.

This truck serves up tiny tacos (3 is about right for a lunch portion) with tasty Asian fusion flavors.

    * Roast Duck ($3.50) :: Looks like shredded pork and not very "duck"-tasting. If you had it without knowing what it is, you'd probably guess that it was pork. Nevertheless, it was pretty good because the blend of flavors on it was interesting.

    * Asian Asada ($2.50) :: Like the duck taco, this steak taco was good but not mind-blowing or anything. Some strips of steak were really chewy but overall, again, the garnishes made up for any flavor the meat lacked.

    * Nun Chuk Chicken ($2.50) :: This one has the most meat of the 3 and the chicken is suuuper tender! Definitely my favorite.

One thing I would love to see is the option to substitute corn tortillas with flour tortillas (I'm not a huge fan of the gritty/rough texture of corn tortillas)...and this suggestion applies to ALL tacos. Anyone who can do that automatically gets bonus points in my book.

I've been wanting to try Kung Fu Tacos for a long time.  Yet every time they are near me the line is way too long.  However I had the great fortune of not having to wait in a long line to try them today and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed.  They were out of the Asian Asada taco so I ordered two chicken tacos.  Quite easily one of the best things I have tasted.

If they keep coming to TruckStopSF I will be a happy gal.  I must have gotten lucky or something with the line because it got pretty long after I ordered and I still had about a 15 min wait for my actual food.  So Good!!

I've tried the chicken taco and the steak taco and both are pretty yummy! 2.50 for each taco isn't a bad price in my opinion. They are topped with this tasty, sweet, but sort of savory asian salsa that really makes these tacos stand out. I went with some coworkers to the food truck lineup on Mission and 1st and immediately got overwhelmed by the long zigzagging lines. Are we getting lunch or waiting for a ride at Disney?

With our divide and conquer strategy, we got 2 different kinds of tacos and 4 different kinds of buns from Chairman Bao to share. The duck with mango taco was full of flavor. But the mushroom taco was even better.

I am not a huge fan of the tortilla though. Kinda hard.

And the name---Kung Fu? Really? I guess the tacos do come with "a kick." But still, I'd think by 2011, we'd leave something so caricatural and stereotypical out of our vocabulary already.

In terms of both food and cleverness of name, I definitely like Chairman Bao better.

I just moved Kung Fu Tacos off my list of places to try when lo and behold I happened to be passing through the Civic Center Off the Grid event today and there it was.

I should have stuck to my guns.

I'm not a stickler for authenticity.  But if you are going to do something different, and charge twice the price, then it should at least, at the very least, taste as good.  In this case, the duck taco for $3.50 isn't even close to the good 'ol stuff at any normal taco truck.  As in not close in a bad way.

    Just a very boring taco.

And for the price you can expect a taco the size of a taco truck taco except with less filling.

2 star because it's not awful.  But it's actually a 1 star because no one could make me try it again.  I must be getting soft to allow them the 2 stars.

As a proud Chinese American, I'd like to believe that I know something about roast duck.

As a taco addict, I'd also like to think that I know something about tacos.

Kung Fu Tacos sounded like a wonderful smorgasbord to my ears, combining 2 of my favorite foods. However, it has failed me like chocolate-covered bacon, something that combines 2 wonderful foods and ruins it.

In this case, the combination was meh...disappointing to say the least.

Service was pretty slow especially relative to the other food trucks in the vicinity. And while the mango salsa had tons of yummy mango, their roast duck and the chicken was too salty. The roast duck didn't have as much of that honey-glazed taste to really make it an amazing roast duck. Plus the tacos were tiny. Mexican food is never tiny.

    Hooray for Korean tacos!

Had the pleasure of meeting this particular food truck not in SF, but in Palo Alto last week. Kung Fu was kind enough to drive down the Peninsula for Moxsie's Street Eats. And boy, were those tacos good! Tried the carne asada - just enough toppings and spice. A little messy, but I like it messy :)

These guys are often featured at Off the Grid, but definitely follow them on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/...) or Facebook (http://www.facebook.co...) to see where you can find 'em. Worth your time!

I surrender to 5 stars... and to the Wednesday music and food truck assortment on Minna between 4th and 5th. I must have come way too late, because they only had veggie tacos left at 2:00PM.

I can't believe I have never come here before. Maybe it's because I never hit up food trucks, or maybe that is because I never carry cash... but it's cheap, and it's delicious!

Even with just veggie, these babies were amaaazing. I am hardly and rarely impressed by tacos. Kung Fu gives them a twist, and a fantastic one at that. AND, since I came so late, they threw in an extra taco for free! xoxo

Thank you Kung Fu Tacos for driving down to Palo Alto's Moxsie Street Eats event.  You saved me some gas ;)

To be honest with you, these tacos were just average to me with its soft tortilla.. I somehow gave myself high expectations with the roast duck taco since I read so much about them on Yelp, but was disappointed at how the flavor didn't quite hit the spot.  I rather go to a chinese restaurant to go get some peking duck at this rate.  The best taco that I had was surprisinly the chicken one.  It was moist and very tasty unlike the duck taco.  $2/taco and $3/duck taco.... Pricing is alright but not enough for me to want to track this truck down all the way up in SF...

At least they have delicious accompaniment of Oui Oui Macarons that day :)

What the heck, I expected a Mexican or Chinese person to serve me; wheres my experience?! Anyways, the food here doesn't take so long to wait for, but they ran out of their Asian Asada pretty fast when I went. It's weird; whenever I see this place at one of the designated food truck "plazas" or "gatherings", it's ridiculously crowded. I used to pass by this truck YEARS ago, when I assume they first started business and was mentioned nowhere on Google. In that Sansome and Jackson parking lot, I recall the sparse customers and staring at it the first time I passed by it, thinking, "What the hell? Kung Fu Tacos. That is a weird name. I wonder if they're actually fusion."

I ended up being too lazy to inspect, so I just continued walking.

Who knew it would be so popular today, with its twitter feed and many facebook fans. I can see why, though; their mango salsa is pretty interesting - wish it could have been more saucy, though, and the mango would taste better if it was softer. I taste the onions way more than the mango and green onions. The meats are pretty good, but I dunno, I just like duck better and char siu better when I buy it on my own and eat it by itself. I got those two specialty tacos and the chicken. All three were flavorful, but as you can read, left a bit of something to be desired.

Duck should taste SO FATTY with goodness, and char siu (BBQ pork) should have more... BBQ pork flavor than the ones in their taco. I suppose people who eat their duck tacos haven't had duck that many times in their life, but I get to eat duck on average of a couple times a month, and it's so amazing and one of the meats I look forward to eating. But the duck in Kung Fu Tacos... oh man, you're missing out on real duck.

Another thing is the tortilla wrapping is pretty cold and bland. I wish they'd at least heat it up, grill it for a second, or at least substitute it with something else... lol.

I actually favored their chicken taco, with that weird orange (carrot?) topping thing. At $2.50 a taco, it's pretty decent. I'd go again to try the asada, but the duck and char siu ones are too expensive to spend money on when they're not that fantastic. It'd be cool if one day they made burritos Asian style!
