Have been here three times over the past month or so. Had Swimming Rama twice and pad thai once. Both were quite yummy and decent sized portions (I couldn't finish either in one sitting). I definitely got way more tofu, shrimp & sprouts than the reviewer below! Don't know if she was unlucky or I was lucky.

Service was prompt and friendly each time. Atmosphere is fine. Nothing fancy. Will be back here soon (probably tonight actually! Craving their pad thai!)

To be honest, I think I cook better Thai food.

We decided to try this place on a whim, lured in by its authentic decor and Thai-speaking staff. When the food came, I tasted my Tom Yum Goong and to my disappointment, instead of hot and spicy it was just sweet. Yes, sweet. Like the cook was heavy-handed on the pinch of sugar. There were a total of four small prawns, maybe three straw mushrooms and that was it. No layered taste of fresh lemongrass, cilantro, chili or fish sauce for savoriness.

The bf got a dinner special which was supposed to be a red beef curry I believe. There wasn't a morsel of chili in it, nor salt for that matter. The beef taste fine, but it wasn't tasty. The bell peppers didn't taste bad, but neither were they good.

We've both been to Thailand many times, and this is not authentic Thai at all. Twenty-five bucks later, I think the best part of the meal was the jasmine tea. How lame. I wanted to like this place so much.

Maybe Krua Thai has good lunch specials but dinner-wise, the value isn't there. The portions are small and the food was just alright. I really can't recall my dining experience.. and what left a bigger impression was not the food, but the middle aged man there alone awkwardly trying to ask the waitress out for a date throught the entire night while everyone in the restaurant could hear their conversation.

Come to think of it, I guess that means I got dinner and entertainment. Maybe I did get a good value?

    Delicious!

Thai is my very favourite and I have yet to have a meal here that I did not enjoy. Casual setting, good service, decent pricing and really good food.

Parking on the street or in the back in their own lot.. very convenient location in the heart of North Vancouver.

    Lunch specials for only $7.50!

When I was working up in North Van, this was the best place to have lunch.  Their lunch specials were filling and reasonably priced.  I would say that it's pretty close to Sawadee Thai on Main.  I haven't had their dinners yet so I can't wait.

They are quick with the lunch hour crowd and it seems like a lot of people do take out.  I've tried pretty much every single lunch special on the menu.  It's usually a curry dish with rice and deep fried wontons to go with it.  The only except of course is the pad thai. It comes on a full dish and it's a big portion of it.  I forget what else comes with it.

I've tried their" all time house favorite", Pad Tha. The server could not speak English well and she might have had difficult time understanding my order.
She was nicer to other customers who were Thai. I personally do not like servers treating one particular customers better than the rest due to their same ethnic background. It did not make me feel comfortable eating in there.

Nonetheless, I liked their pad thai noodles; they are quite thick. I am guessing they use  a mild tomato sauce but was tasty. I don't like tamarind sauce anyway.

Food was nice and I would like to go back to try other items, but will likely not order their curries; their portion was VERY small and tasted alright. Well, it didn't taste bad but for $13, I only got a tiny small cup of red curry. It's expensive. They only put shrimps in it too. Nothing else. (No veggies, not potatoes etc) and was way watery that it should be. The one I've tried should be a darker version of red curry.

Service is lacking. Food portion to be small. OK place. I won't likely return.

It is really not good at all. I've been to Thailand...I frequent many Thai restaurants. I just had Phad Thai...the ubiquitous dish that any Thai restaurant should be able to make. Terrible. No tamarind, no cilantro, no lime, 2 pieces of tofu and only 2 small prawns, a few measly bean sprouts.....I asked the waitress about the flavor and she said well we use tomato because tamarind is too expensive. EXCUSE ME???? Tomato??? The egg roll, which has an extra charge, was a waste of time and money. A greasy wrappper with a few strings of cabbage. Don't bother. Asked for chilies in fish sauce (nam pla)...got a sour, mouldy tasting pinkish concoction. My last visit was over a year ago and I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt....won't be back.  I did thank them in Thai...and got a blank stare...

Krua Thai is my new favourite Thai place in the Vancouver area. We ordered fried tofu, pad thai and yellow curry. I was a little skeptical when they brought our dishes to the table in what felt like mere minutes after we'd ordered. I was further skeptical because the noodle dish and the curry dish looked strangely alike. I was happily surprised that everything was delicious and the noodles and curry tasted totally distinct and delicious. Quick service and reasonable prices. I will most certainly be back for more.

Excellent Thai food with fantastic friendly prompt service.  Prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommend it.
