Review from Weirdie B.

With the influx of mass 5-star reviews from brand new Yelpers, I feel the need to review Kritters and Fins. Yes, the owners are nice. But niceness can't make up for the poor conditions I've seen some of the animals living in and the poor quality of food and supplies that they sell. Filthy, awful cages that seem too small for the birds living in them. Some alright brands, but a lot of food that I would never feed my cat in a million years. If you really pick through, you can find a suitable toy among the polyester and googly eyed things available. Not the worst, but definitely far, far from being the best. Unfortunately, they're the only pet store within the Downtown core. Fortunately, there's a number of high quality pet stores within walking, biking, or driving distance.

Review from Alison C.

Was really hoping to find myself a good little independent shop for my cockatiel's needs. They didn't carry any cockatiel pellet diets (which I think is strange given that it's now well accepted in the avian world that seed based diets are nutritionally insufficient) so when I went to get a small amount of bulk seed to tie me over until I could source another food, I found the bulk seed to be infested with meal moths!!
I ran outta there pretty fast. -

My original review:
this place sucks. i hate puppy mills. (they buy from breeders though)
the guy who was working at the front looked like a big jerk with dumb hair and didn't approach customers in a very nice way. maybe he was having a bad day, but i want everyone to know how badly this place sucks. SUCKSSSSS
Edit/Update:
They do not buy from puppy mills, and I did not mean that seriously, so don't take it to heart. They do buy from breeders though, which is bad enough. Support your local humane society instead if you would like a furry friend. It's a lot harder for an animal in a shelter to find a home than it is for an animal in a pet shop.
I still had a horrible experience here, and thought the customer service was terrible and the man working was incredibly rude. I don't care how busy or overwhelmed he was. Maybe it was just him, maybe it was just that day.
Anyway, an ode to local shops--you should still give this place a chance and support small, local businesses. Maybe you will have a better experience than I had.
