I was introduced to this homey cafe about a year ago, and ever since it has been the #1 'go-to coffee place' for me. Super friendly staff, great location, and great coffee.
I would recommend Kranky's Cafe to anyone who's looking for a quick bite! -

Yes - another "off the beaten track -hideaway place" - very neat, petite + discreet - but let's get down to it - I discovered this place last Sept. 2011 whilst beginning doing business/contract w/ http://PublicDreams.org + first things first, whence doing business + Contract, one must explore nearby eateries += cafes are at one's disposal! That's when I stumbled upon Kranky!
Tucked below one of those corrugated metal big box industrial-0style live/work loft buildings of the mid90'sThey've got brilliant coffee - with personalized service - a simple but gorgeous selection of home-made style baked goods - decadent Chocolate cake to die for + various vegan selections equally yummy. I love the lamb sandwich myself [sorry vegans - and their breakfast sandwich - thrown on th epanini grill...
When in the lower Mount Pleasant area - close to E.2nd + Main - drop in for a decent Java - and displays of cool art + artifacts by some of the local colourful artists/designers + craftspeople in the local area...it's quirky - but the service Is ABSOLUTELY NOT Kranky! -

Kranky's is definently my choice for a local coffee shop. With delicious and healthy options, amazing americanos and great service, its the best place around. Gotta love the gluten free pumpkin muffins!

A very warm and welcoming local coffee shop! Love their chai tea lattes and their chocolate chip banana bread. Love the vibe at Krankys. Well worth the trip!

Love.
I love this little place. Mismatched chairs, foggy windows, scrabble boards, book exchange, wine and beer, gluten free menu, Boylen sodas, rhubarb pie, veggie soup, music nights, basil, coffee, best. Best.
If only every shop could be so quaint. If only every shop would be so cool. Best thing I've seen in a long while. -

A new find, and a definite fave. Small, quiet but with a pretty darn good playlist on the speakers, cheerful staff, cool relaxed vibe and hodgepodge decor, fresh and tasty Kicking Horse beans (I love the Three Sisters blend - it's what I buy and brew at home) and baked goods that range from just plain good to good-for-you (gluten/sugar free or vegan) if you so desire. Heartier food like sandwiches, quiche, soups, and even beer (!) are available too. All of this, located right around the corner from my new place of study at Nimbus. They even give students a discount, and there's a stamp card program to benefit from as well if you end up becoming a frequent flyer.
Though I do love the carefully hand-poured artisanal coffee and delicate pastries I can get steps from my door at Innocent Coffee, Kranky pulls off a feat by having a fleshed out food/snack menu as well as pouring a decent cup and being better suited to hanging around with classmates. I'll have to show up soon for one of their music showcases! -

Kranky's rocks! I'm there every single day because of how awesome it is! They brew from the tastiest beans on the planet and are super friendly! It's such a friendly vibe and feels like a second home; A great place to relax, have a quick snack or even a casual business meeting! The girls there make the most delicious food! I actually skip breakfast at home so I can eat their delicious mexican wraps before I go to class. Mmmmm, Mexican wraps.
Speaking of which, BRB - Going for a mexican wrap. And an "Awesome" cookie. -

I'm at Kranky's pretty much every day. Highly recommend the Mexican wraps for breakfast, quiche for lunch, and the vegan brownie for a sugar rush. Order "Heaven In A Cup" - just do it (iced vanilla latte). So good.
They have started doing monthly live music nights. Awesome spot. -

I can't believe this place has good reviews, me and my office staff thinks this place is awful! Couple years ago it used to be Moss Cafe, wonderful place, since it was sold the place is horrible, the food is bad, really bad, they never have anything, they are supposed to be good in pastries, but they are so heavy and unflavored, they never have enough soup for a bowl, their paninis are nasty! several people have got sick after eating them, we go there only as an emergency when we are starving because there's no many places around this area, seriously this place needs a new menu!! and the worst thing of all is SUPER EXPENSIVE!!!

Oh panini. I do declare, the best tomato bocconcini and basil sandwich I have had the pleasure of consuming. Perhaps my famished frame contributed to its deliciousness, but all the qualities were present: soft but crunchy focaccia, fresh tomatoes and basil, and most importantly, the softest, freshest cheese!
Kicking Horse coffee in the percolator, baked goods, soups and breakfast sammies also adorn the tight menu. And there was me, cocooned in this tiny shop, atop a bar stool, watching the drips fall down in the misted up window on a sunny Saturday afternoon it was hard to find a thing wrong with the space.Listed in: The Fun Between Sandwich Buns

Fresh paninis made daily with wraps and soups. All well done but I wish they had more pastry offerings.
Very good selection of teas for those that prefer a good tea selection at their neighbourhood coffee joint. Free wifi! -

A great local coffee shop with some mean brews & divine freshly baked goods. Even sells cold beer and wine for those more leisurely days!!

Lovely little place, very homely! Feels totally non pretentious unlike many of the cafes in the area. I ordered a medium latte and a home made choc chip cookie, both of which were yummy! Could have eaten another 10 of those cookies ;D It came on a lovely little plate too. I even bought a mug from there, in honor of my sister (due to the name, heheh!). Recommended!

A cozy neighbourhood hide-away, where I can get a great cup of Kicking Horse coffee and have a fun conversation with neighbours and the owners of the place. The place is small, the setting intimate, and the few tables outside are lovely when the weather is warmer.
The baked goodies are delicious and they are made right on the premises, fresh. Try pretty much anything...
Because it is directly in my neighbourhood, it does feel like "Cheers" which adds to the opportunity to meet those I don't meet in the elevator... -

This cozy little cafe is a hidden gem just up from Main St and 2nd Ave. It seems popular with the local residents. A nice selection of coffee, tea, baked goods, and beer too I think. Great owners and a laid back atmosphere.

Surprisingly bustling considering it is off the beaten path and in a very unassuming location, Kranky Cafe has some very nice tasting coffee, good service, very unoffensive music (how sick are we of hearing Santana in coffee houses?) and although I didn't try any of the food, it all looked really delicious. Although I'm only really ever in that area to get my car repaired, I will be back the next time I wait for my car and the time again!

Anything but Kranky is just 1/2 block off Main St...Cozy and provides a good jolt of an Americano.. Small menu selection and real nice owners...... Even out door seating in a small street front patio...
