I had lunch with my sister over here while visiting her at the University of Alberta.

First of all, why are the meals so expensive when it's a restaurant for college kids? I ended spending a good $13 here, which wasn't really worth what I got to be honest. Can college kids really afford to continue eating here.

Luckily the chicken I had here was really spicy, which is exactly how I like it!

I was at the University of Alberta campus to attend an International Week event taking place near HUB Mall. So, to me it made sense to have lunch at HUB prior to the event. As is typical of HUB on any given weekday, most of the tables lining the mall were filled with students, so grabbing food at one of the many takeaway establishments would have been awkward, as I would have had trouble finding a place to sit down and eat.

Korean Food Restaurant has its own dining area, so I went here. I made my choice based on the colourful menu behind the counter, paid up front, and took my seat. I thought spending close to $12 on lunch seemed a bit steep in a location where starving students hang out. Well, I am not a student, but I was starving, so I went for it anyways. I chose a bulgogi platter, consisting of thin slices of marinated, barbequed beef, vegetables, rice, and a noodle dish called jap chae.

My food arrived within a reasonable amount of time, and the plate was quite large with an ample portion of each of the dish's components. There was plenty of beef, which did not really taste barbecued and could have been hotter, but was very lean. The rice was hot and plain, the veggies fresh, and the jap chae was one of the most interesting noodle dishes I have had in a long while - thing cellophane noodles accented with vegetables.  A small side of kimchi was provided, which was not too spicy and went well mixed in with the bland rice.

I was quite full after my meal and felt that the price was fair after all. If ever I am in HUB, craving Korean food, and wanting a quiet place to sit, I would likely come here again.

I think this is the only Korean venue on campus, which is too bad cause this place isn't all that great. Their menu size isn't that bad, considering it's a small restaurant setting in HUB mall. But I found the food way too spicy for my liking, and I don't think my dish was supposed to be spicy. And other than the sharp pangs jabbing at my taste buds, there wasn't much flavour to the food. There are a few tables in this small, narrow space, with each table fitting about 4 people. All in all though, I wouldn't waste my money for lunch here again.
