When I was living in Ottawa this was one of my top three restaurants. The service and family who owns this restaurant is great.
Food is excellent. If you're not up for grilling, try spicy squid platter that comes with huge soup and sides, etc. But my favorite item, by far, is the seafood dolsot. Just perfect, and a great introduction to people who have not tried Korean.
Be aware, this place is busy, and it gets crazy on a Saturday or Friday night. But it is a great place for a group. Everyone will love it. -

This place is deeeee-lish! My friends and I got AYCE BBQ and sushi. It was all amazing. Especially the bbq beef. It's $20 and definitely worth it.
The service, however, is horrible! We went for dinner on a Friday and called around 8:15pm to see what time they closed. They told us not to come because their kitchen closes at 9pm? On a Friday? Really? We went anyways and got there at 8:55pm. They said they had no tables and they closed at 10pm. Eventually they found us a table and we ordered right away. Evidently the kitchen was still open after 10pm as they were still serving food. We left around 10:30pm.
Regardless of the service this was some pretty awesome food. -

Went last Friday around 1900 for dinner. I had a bento box (teriyaki and bulgogi), my girlfriend had one of their set dinners (kalbi and some soup dish). We also got an order of tempura vegetables and an order of chap chae. The food was fine not mind-blowing. They serve a wide variety of appetizers that are very tasty. Service was cheerful but a little absent-minded (we went 20 minutes without a tea refill at one point) but we JUST beat the arrival of a bus so perhaps that can be excused. All in all, I was pleased and intend to go back again.

Excellent excellent excellent. The food is wonderful and you get great value for your money. We love to get the enormous soups that cook on a burner at your table. The table BBQ is also great if you can handle that much meat in one sitting. The bimbimbaps are excellent too.
They are very generous with the (free) pickled side dishes - you usually get 5 or 6 of them - and replenish them whenever you want. Some Korean restaurants are stingy about those.
It is helpful to make a reservation to avoid being shut out by one of those busloads of Korean tourists that another reviewer mentioned. -

When my wife and first moved to Ottawa, we stayed at the Econo Lodge on Rideau (which is very reasonable and has wi-fi in each room!). Anyhow, we were miserable - missing all the cool foods we had discovered while living overseas in the Middle East and Korea. How surprised were we when we spotted Korea Garden right across the street from the hotel! The restaurant is totally authentic Korean food. How authentic? Get this - several times a day (and I know this because I used to see them all the time from my hotel room) BUSLOADS of Korean tourists stop there to eat. And, one thing I learned about Koreans is that they LOVE their own food and hate eating foreign stuff. They even bring packets of their spicy noodle soup in their luggage when they travel. Anyhow, the food at Korea Garden is the real deal - spicy bone soups, bulgogi, bibimbap, kimbap, etc. But, no takalbi. Prices? Well, it isn't too bad. But, they are priced for the Korean tourists.... There is very limited parking on the street, but you could go around the corner on Augusta and see if any street parking is free. Down Rideau from Korea Garden, the neighbourhood looks a little sketchy and there are "interesting" characters wandering around. But, I felt safe immediately around the restaurant and for the week I stayed there I didn't see any trouble.
