Review from Linda M.
***EDIT*** I am very sad to say that Ken has closed the doors of Kitchener Auto Club. I wish you all the best, thanks for all your help over the last year!
I've procrastinated in writing this review because I honestly don't know how to put into words how great it is to have a mechanic like Ken. As a woman who admittedly doesn't know a lot about cars, I've dealt with feeling like I'm being ripped off a number of times - and a number of times I HAVE been ripped off. Ken and co are nothing like those mechanics.
As stated in my previous review, my car was having an issue. I wasn't happy with the service and offer for repair at the Mississauga mechanic I tried, and when my work took me to Kitchener in October I found a coupon for Kitchener Auto Club. An oil and filter change, a diagnostic scan, and an inspection for $19 - pretty good deal, especially since my engine light was on and I was due for an oil change! I bought the coupon and made an appointment.
All the staff at Kitchener Auto Club are so friendly and nice. I've had nothing but positive experiences there - and they offer a ride! I work about a 15 minute drive, but they always offer to drive me to work or to pick me up. It's a wonderful system. After Ken had taken some time to look at the car, he called me with the bad news. Now at this point, I'd like to say to any that haven't read my previous review of the Mississauga mechanic, I was previously quoted over $600 just for my cooling system. Ken, sounding very sympathetic I might add, gave me a LAUNDRY LIST of things that should be fixed with my car. It's an old car, it's expected. Then he quoted me about $500. For everything he had listed, including a one-year membership to his club. See, the deal is that you buy a membership with this club and you get labour for $19.95. That is an amazing deal - dealerships can charge about $120 an hour! Most mechanics are anywhere from $60-80 an hour! So, my quote included this membership as well as a number of other little fixes and was significantly less expensive than the other mechanic.
When I got there to pick up my car, Ken told me that he had made a calculation error. My quote should have been closer to $600. However, to be true to his word, he shuffled things around, and gave me a few discounts to ensure that he could keep my charge at what he'd quoted. Amazing!!
I have been back multiple times since then (old car, needs a lot of work), and I've always felt that they have amazing service. They don't push me to get things I don't need - for example, my engine light came on, and they explained that it was a $300 part that didn't really affect how my car ran, and was only necessary if I needed an e-test.
I basically can't say enough good things about these guys. If you're looking for a mechanic and you're anywhere near Kitchener, go here! I've recommended them to all my friends.Listed in: Danger, Group Coupons!

Review from Kathy H.
North York, ON
After a tough morning of car issues it was a relief to find Kitchener Auto Club. What a great concept; a membership plan to allow for budgeting of your auto maintenance while ensuring you stay on top of regular maitenance.
Their marketing point is 19.95 an hour for labour - any questions. Even the pay as you go is cheaper than anything I've seen.
The staff are fantastic, they don't upsell and they offer a computer and entertainment center to use while you wait! Most impressive.
