Review from Justin K.
London, ON
Very unique department style store in London. We were on a hunt for the perfect kitchen table and went to all of your staple furniture stores but alas we found the table of our dreams here. As per other reviews the staff is ultra helpful and actually seems to care about making you unhappy, unlike those big department store.
Suffice it to say this place is definitely worth a walk through, you'll always find something you like. -
Review from Janna S.
This London landmark is rarely busy, but it's worth visiting when you're looking for the perfect gift or dress for a special occasion. The staff here cater to older customers, and I didn't feel comfortable here when I was a teenager. That being said, the service provided here is quite good and staff will take the extra effort to track down hard-to-find items and special orders.
There are some beautiful kitchen items and decor pieces here! As London's most exclusive and historic department store, I recommend visiting this place at least once.
Specialties
The four floors of the store offer a broad range of goods including home furnishings, fine china and collectibles, woman's, men's and children's fashions, linens, gifts, kitchen ware, luggage and much more! Take a store tour to see a selection of items from each of the four floors. Looking for something different? Visit us online at kingsmills.com. We look forward to serving you.
History
Established in 1865
In 1865 Thomas Frazer Kingsmill, an Irish immigrant, opened a dry goods store on the main street of London, Ontario. Over the years, the Kingsmill family has continued to offer fine products and services from this location.
The present building, the third to house the store on this site dates to the 1930's when fire destroyed the previous structure. The art deco style building features original tin-plated ceilings and hardwood floors. Other unique features of the building include an old style elevator complete with operator. These features have survived over the years in a conscious effort to maintain the character and elegance of the building. Today Kingsmill's continues to be owned and operated by descendents of the founder.
