This is an unusual little bar down on Stephen Ave. What makes it so strange is that it's really not pretending to be anything it's not. Which is refreshing, especially down there.
The King Henry has long been one of my favourite pubs to just sip on a cold beer and be left alone. Some of the clientele strike you as riff-raff, but that's only because they aren't pretending to be anything they're not either. I quite like the rugged decor and will have to get back there soon. I don't think I've ever tried their food, but the beer is good and it's a great place to escape downtown while being downtown. -

Settled right beside Flames Central on Stephen Avenue is this little authentic British public house. Of course, the folks who come here are seedy and weird, but this place is definitely a place that I can call home.
During my time as a solo musician, I was conscripted to kick out the jams here every Thursday night as an accompaniment to their open mic night (that is probably one of the best ones in the city).
The bar is small, but still offers plenty of seating and a decent sized patio. Their staff are awesome, especially Jeff the bartender. You can't go wrong with gnarly people like that staffing your bar.
I love the King Henry. But it's a little rough and a little gruff and not for everyone. -

I have enjoyed some good times in this place. Sure it's a dive, but my friends seem to like it.
