Wish the cashier was friendlier, geez smile some, it won't ruin your business but overall I found it decent. Place was clean, food most people would recognize and it didn't send me to the toilet, (which is always a plus).
If you get over the name and grandiose expectations for wanting to marry the chef from 1st bite, you'll be okay with this place. -
Review from Ryan M.
This review is for 01/01/2012. With my first full day in Vancouver almost over, my friend and my transporter decided to have one GRAND meal. The day before, I went over to Ji Sushi for the All-You-Can-Eat Sushi with my transporter. On this day...ANOTHER Buffet?! Wow....I ended my 2011 Year with a buffet and now start my 2012 Year at King Buffet.
If you are trying to get here, if you must, you can get off the Bridgehouse Richmond Station. Just like many locations in the United States, its the same feeling of any Chinese Buffet. Unfortunately, my friend and I had a meal a couple hours before coming in. I blame him for making me eat and his always hungry stomach. Glad I ate a healthy salad and he ate a greasy burger.
What exactly is there to write about. Well, I did eat about 19 mussels and plates of rice, orange chicken, sushi, and everything in between. The waitress was the subject of the night. My transporter was trying to get her phone number throughout the meal. Really?! Again?! My transporter loves to flirt. Since it was a holiday, the price of the buffet was about $17 per person. The Harmony Sales Tax is what killed the deal. Geez...12% tax.
Also, the one thing that was disturbing was the serving of the hot tea. Why were they serving hot tea in plastic glasses? For the first few minutes, I was wondering why my glass was leaking. I saw a crack, but still didn't connect the hot tea....Ah...the Hot Tea. I was waiting for the dam (glass) to blow while I was eating. My side of the table was leaking with hot tea. Geez....get some porcelain cups.
Overall, it was not great, but not that bad. If it was bad, I would have been sick after eating all that greasy food. I would have rated it Two Stars, but we had fun with the waitress. She finally gave us a phone number for our transporter....She gave, "911"...lol. Great Answer!!

Jesus, Mary and Joseph!!
My first impression was; " Wow, this is going to be a treat! ". Not only was there more than enough to choose from, my lovely wife was nowhere to be seen, and as a result, could not be there to tell me how crappy it was, or how many calories i had consumed, or how i was going to get a sore belly like last time. Nope, i was free and clear to give myself to one of my more regrettable indulgences, cheap chinese buffet. It's my McDonalds, which is good because i don't eat McDonalds.
Normally when i go to chinese buffets i find that i collect the safe bets which are universally identical, a few tasters and maybe (always regrettably) a couple stupid sushi rolls. Then, when i feel i have wasted my stomach space on things i should have known i would dislike, i start to really hone in on the usual suspects, and to the best of my ability, try to make myself explode by over eating those chosen. Usually about 2 plates after my wife suggests i stop eating, which is why this was such a potentially special day. Anyways, that's my pattern, usually.
Today though, something odd happened. I was very excited about eating here, i even clapped my hands like a toddler as i entered the establishment and wore an idiots grin as we were seated. I wasn't feeling ill or even un-hungry, and i should also say that i believe i may have exceptionally low standards for chinese buffet food, and at @ $11 for an all you can eat, i'm sure i don't want to taste the meat 'as it came'. But after i ate the four "safe bets" and was sadly disappointed with them, i will tell you... I was discouraged. Sure, i ate four or five more plates of food, but i felt i was only doing it out of some sort of commitment, like i owed it to them for preparing such an enormous spread of food. A reaction i likely learned as a child as i ate the plate of liver and onions my Grandmother prepared us as she scrubbed the pots and pans and toiled over how pain staking it is to make these kinds of nice dinners for us kids, and how we never seemed very grateful, and one day, she might just stop doing it!! What would we do then? Huh? And you know what, she did. R.I.P.
In sumaries: If you are addicted to cheap chinese buffet (CCB), this is your methadone. I'll only eat there again IF i am in the neighbourhood AND hungry.
DON'T LOOK AT ME!!!!! -
Review from Ben C.
Well, I certainly didn't feel like royalty..
I wasn't expecting the King's servant to be serving me my glorius buffet in a highschool cafeteria either.
Thankfully, the food wasn't terrible and the service was friendly. Still, I rather spend my gold elsewhere.
EDIT: I got sick later. Not that I was ever coming back here, but now heed this warning =P -

Husband said he was feeling adventurous today... King Buffet felt dangerous I guess.
The food was average and there isn't very much choices for sushi or dim sum. Luckily I was craving salmon rolls and there were plenty of those. There's also california rolls, kapp maki (cucumber rolls), and BC rolls. All decent, but nothing great. The only dim sum there was sui mai and they were not bad. There's obviously better ones out there, but these are of good size and didn't taste bad. The turnip cake was tasty and a bit on the oily side, but I had 3 pieces anyway. I love turnip cake. The vegetables were all on the oily side so I didn't eat much of those.
The service was excellent though. Our waitress was attentive, kept refilling our teas and really pleasant to deal with.
Everything I wrote above... was before I got one of the worst stomach aches of all tme. =( I won't be going back.Listed in: No thank you, ma'am!!!

Maybe because I went in with a very low expectation, the food didn't all seem utterly bizarre. Although the shrimps were oily and tasteless, and the foods were lukewarm, I did find their white boiled chicken and siu mai to be decent. The crabs were re-fried so much that the shells were crispy enough to be cracked using fingers.
I will not return tho but if you are ever in the area and are interested in food court quality Chinese food for lunch and you are a big eater like me, you should check it out. -

Sorry to have to say this. Front desk person doesn't wash hands after pee break.
Food isn't as good as it was.
Assortment for dim sum was dim.
A group of 10 had a table break on them.
What happened?
I barely at and it wasn't worth the price

If your feeling constipated come and eat here! the amount of grease in each of the food items are liable to give you the runs. (too much?)
I only ate here once and never again after that...! The food was nothing special. just greasy and luke warm at best. Oh man i'd hate to be the food inspector coming in here! They even had sashimi here, dare i try? i think not. their dessert station was cluttered with stacked old chairs and filthy and their dim sum wasn't hot at all. i had to enhance the flavorless food with a lot of hot sauce and soy. Don't take my word for it. If you have a chance please give it a try. you've been warned. -

I came here for lunch when it first opened. Back then, the place was full and there was high turnover. I returned about a week ago for dinner, and the place was empty. Only about 4 other tables were occupied. It was $16/person. Food wasn't as fresh and the quality of the food was much lower than that original visit. On the upside, they do have a large variety of food, including a dimsum station. If you enjoy eating crab, you could probably get your money's worth on that alone. I don't know how it tastes though since I think shelling crab takes too much effort :p
I don't think this place will be around for much longer, due to the lack of customers and the fact that Richmond has so many better restaurants for the similar or lower price. -
Review from Calvin M.
Not sure about lunch and dinner. But I went there for the breakfast buffet. It wasn't all that great, but can't beat the price of $5. It has three types of dumplings, wonton noodle and soup, fried rice, fruit, etc.
There's nothing fancy about the food. But you can't beat the price. Heck, the hot soy milk alone is worth $3 somewhere else.
I will definitely come back to this place for breakfast. -

The worse buffet I have ever had!!!!!
Pricy and the foods suck!!!
Is a 20 dollars all u cn eat, but honestly, I would not even go there again even if you give me 20 bucks!!!
There are a variety of food..(actually, I do have to say I am somewhat impressed, they have Chinese local food, sashimi to European salad..) but they all have something in common: they tastes like Sh*t...
oke, maybe I am being harsh, but ya.. the noodle wasn't fully cook, oil was dripping when I lift the chicken breast, the chicken wing is too hard to chew, the sashimi looks like it has been there for a year, but I do recognize the ice cream!! the ice cream is the one that u get 4 L for 5 bucks in Saveway, except, cheaper... XD
Please do go, if you wanna know how bad can food be.. -

Came back for a lunch last week.
Too much good food for the price.
The only item that was not very good was the beef - too tough - they should have sliced them in the kitchen.
Everyhing else was very, very good.
Service is very good, too.1 Previous Review: Show all »

For the price, this place is a bargain. Surprisingly abundant in variety, too. You get dimsum, too.

This was the worst Chinese food ever. In fact, I don't think it could be classified as Chinese or food. The soup at the soup station had a thick skin on it, like it had been sitting there for hours with no lid. I feel like I paid $18 to get food poisoning. The pushy server tried to get us to pay in the middle of our meal. If you're looking for good Chinese food, you'll have better luck in a mall.
