Kindfood is a casual vegan cafe with a variety of healthy wraps, salads and burgers, as well as baked goods for those with a sweet tooth. For anyone from Toronto, it reminds me of a friendlier, tastier and less hectic version of FRESH.

The atmosphere is casual, quaint and bright. It has seating for what looks like 20 people. It also has a small patio, which I can't wait to use this summer.

The staff is extra friendly, trying to get to know you by name.

They have a small grocery offering, such as tofu, soy milk, and flax.

My recommendations: The B.L.A.T. (Vegan BLT with avacado). Reminded me of the real BLTs I used to eat before becoming a vegan. For dessert I had a "OMG cookie". I haven't tried anything else but it all looks ridiculously tasty. From the juice bar, I really enjoyed the Immune elixir.

Not only are Kindfood's offerings vegan and organic, they're also very delicious. The light and tasty, but unfortunately named Beauty Salad featuring kale is a dense and filling starter or snack. The Happy Buddha bowl of plump, (very) delicately flavoured brown rice topped with colourful morsels of avocado, sweet potato, red onion, tomato, and nuts and seeds was rather petite for $11, but ensured that there was plenty of room for dessert. I don't doubt that the OMG Cookie which is chockful of textured and nutritious seeds is good on its own, but try it as a "sandwich" (with a creamy topping squished between two pieces) and you'll have that sweet tooth satisfied.

In light of their one year anniversary special, we opted to take home a half dozen mix and match box of gluten-free vegan cupcakes. Never mind that there were options like red velvet, mint chocolate, dulce de leche, and coconut to choose from, all of the textures and flavours were so good that it didn't even matter in the end which one was currently in your mouth.

Convenient, but not the most economical of ways to shop, the freezer and refrigerated take away section at the back of the store have a solid selection of vegan groceries. From here, Individual cans of kombucha (in a variety of flavours) and some Coconut Bliss dark chocolate coconut milk ice cream made perfect compliments to our alfresco lunch.

It was quite busy and frankly a little bit crowded in the low-ceilinged store when we visited. The intense electric watermelon coloured decor can be a little much on the eyes as well. On nice days, there are a couple of tables out front if you're lucky enough to nab them.
