Review from Doug C.
Toronto, ON
Based on Dineoutgal's review, I decided to try Kimchi. It was pretty much how she reported, a quirky little place that doesn't even look like a restaurant. One half is the knitting shop (WTF?), the other- the lunch counter and dining area.
I had the Bulgoggi beef sub, it was very nice although I didn't care for the pickled cabbage served on the side. Real, metal chopsticks! Sub and a diet coke $8.
Yes, it was a bit salty. Yes, could've used a few more veggies, perhaps a heaping addition of pickled daikon or even some pickled Lebanese-style turnip. But- sure beats the crap out of Subway or Quiznos! -

Seems like Kimch'i is closed...or at least the original owner has sold the place to new management. The new place is called Kimchi Kanadian Food and now focuses on Japanese and Korean food. It's really too bad as I really loved the Korean subs at Kimch'i (the old one).

Review from John R.

Figured I give the subs here a try, so in I went. The first thing that threw me off was the wool store was gone. and the decor was updated nicely they still have the Korean subs, but they not also do sushi (like a lot of other places) I tried one sushi dish, and got the sub I came for. Now I am between two thing, the sub was a 3-4 star thing, but the sushi is now most of the menu, and it is just another standard sushi restaurant. Yes I may make it back, but if they drop the subs I would not dine there.

Review from Rose M.
Vancouver, BC
6 months ago, I would have given this place 5 stars. Even 3 months ago, this place would have earned 5 stars. I almost crave it, whenever I'm in town. But just this past week, I was left feeling disappointed. I ordered the tocilog and my tocilog was tough and chewy. I was too distracted by the conversation at the table to put 2 and 2 together. I was served reheated tocino! I would know! I grew up to the texture of reheated tocino leftovers. Not cool. However, the subs are yummy as is the bibimbap. And the staff are lovely, always enthusiastic about their product, including the adjacent yarn shop. In fact, a 2 minute conversation back in the fall inspired me to take up knitting when I returned to Vancouver. Maybe I should up the star factor to 4 stars, as this was a one off. Maybe after my next visit....
