Kimchi Nara is sadly closed. I found this out on my recent visit home (Vancouver is always home for me even though studies take me far away...) and me and The Boy were sorely disappointed.
For me, Kimchi Nara has special meaning. It's the place where, in high school, my friends would think of as a special go-out place, because lunch costs more than $5. Later, in university, it would be a great date place for a hungry freshman couple because dinner would be less than $50 for two, and it was cozy and nice.
The host was a friendly Caucasian husband, the Korean wife took over in the kitchen. Soondobu, champong gooksoo, bulgogi, it was all delicious.
And now, as of July 2009, it's over and gone. I feel like part of my childhood has been stripped away, replaced by savoury memories.
I'll miss you, Kimchi Nara...
