I love Kim and her Brother who runs this joint!
First visit last year, I told Kim her Banh Mi Viet Sandwhich was as good as Toronto records and it's very hard to find VEGETARIAN Banh Mi and she not only puts her special sauce in it, but she also....toasts those baguette buns....whoa!

    I love Kim!

Am I missing something? What are we all raving about?  I went to Kim Saigon after hearing so many rave reviews (from friends on Twitter) and reading reviews here, but after eating the spicy chicken sub, I have to say that I'm pretty disappointed.  It was okay, but it wasn't that memorable. I couldn't imagine developing a craving or feeling like I *had* to come here.  Au Petit still has the best viet subs IMHO.

Kim Saigon Sandwiches lies within Golden Garden Vietnamese Cuisine Restaurant and serves the delicious, addictive Vietnamese sandwich referred to as Banh Mi.

I am VERY happy to report that I have finally found Banh Mi within walking distance in Chinatown! If it isn't apparent, Vietnamese cuisine is one of my favourites and I frequently feast on it because its quick, relatively healthy and cheap. It was a staple in college and I won't be growing out of this habit anytime soon!

I took a chance and ordered a vegetarian Banh Mi instead of the traditional pork pate, chicken or meatball and I was very impressed. The baguette on which lay the traditional Vietnamese toppings of daikon, cilantro and chilies, was crunchy, fresh and brought the sandwich up a few notches. The bread is a key element and if it can stay crispy on a 10 minute or more walk, then I'm a happy camper! Fortunately, this Banh Mi passed the test and then some! Yum!

I love these sandwiches! I get a craving everyday for the spicy chicken... the veggie is awesome too. I stuff my face with 2 each time! Super cheap too. Can't beat a $3 sub.

Yes I 100% agree that the vegetarian sandwiches are amazing. And according to Kim the sandwiches are 100% vegetarian. Unless you add the mayo in it. I hate ordering something that is suppose to be vegetarian and find out it isn't 100% vegetarian. The usual ham, meatball, or chicken are also just as amazing. The other spread that she puts in the sandwich is probably the star of the sandwich. Don't know what it is but it is awesome. Sometimes I just order the bread and spread alone. Nothing bad to say about this woman's food.
