Review from Kirstin L.

I've taken two of my cats to this vet and have seen the two male veterinarians here. I have always been very satisfied with the service here and how they treat my cat. I feel they are very knowledgeable, very thorough and make sure that I am prepared to care for my cat to the best of my ability. After each visit, I usually get a follow up call a few days later to see how my cat is doing and if I have any concerns. After my current cat had surgery, the vet called my husband once it was done and let him know how it had gone. It is hard, if you have a question, to get through to the vet and talk to them but they will try their hardest to get back to you, even if it takes a bit of telephone tag.
I am aware that Killarney is more expensive than a typical general vet clinic but I believe that it is worth the extra money to have my cat see someone who knows what they are doing and who I feel I can trust. I have taken my cats to general vet clinics but since Killarney, I know my cat will never go to one of those clinics again. Killarney is the place for us. -

This vet has been my primary vet for many years now, I have only really stopped using them when I moved to far away. But after my recent experiences with other vets I will drive across the city if I have to, cause they are the best I have experienced.
Why I like them:
* They get it RIGHT!
Let me tell you after having another cat almost die from being mis-diagnosed at another vet (westmount - see my review for them) it is very important that the problem is figured out correctly the first time! They have never got anything wrong with my cats yet (over many years).
* Their office is clean and organized
Didn't think this would matter to me until I had been to other places
* They are polite, helpful & friendly. But most of all they care about the cats!
* They specialize in cats
This means I don't need to worry about barking dogs in the office that scare my cats (they are already under enough stress going to the vet). But mostly it's just that they really understand cats.
* They have a good website
* They always do thorough exams, no shortcuts.
Why I can't give them 5 stars:
* They can be bad at returning phone messages left on the answering machine. (But speak to someone in person and you'll get your answer)
* Sometimes I have gotten frustrated that their prices are higher then other vets. Which is why I have tried others but I have come to learn that you get what you pay for and I get the best service and results at this vet.
Other notes:
A previous reviewer mentioned that he liked the female vet that was there. I really liked her too but can't remember her name. I was sad when she left. However they have a new female vet there that I think is terrific, I can't remember her name either.
I recently had to put one of my cats down due to what we believe was abdominal cancer. It was an experience I never wanted to go through, it was very tough. However this new female vet was so very kind, even running a last minute test just to be certain (since another vet lost her blood test records: transcanada vet). She made the process as easy as it could be and I am so grateful to her.
The main vet is Dr. Porstocky, he is great at what he does and knows his stuff. Sometimes I feel I just don't "click" with him but too be honest I don't need to be friends with him I just need him to fix my kitties.
All in all I would highly recommend this vet to anyone with cats. They are reliable and this is what matters most. -

I originally chose this clinic as they were one of the few that did house calls, yes you heard me right they do house calls. Having said that a house call is very expensive, but at the time after I had just adopted my cats and brought them home from the SPCA I decided that I would rather have the vet come to me.
The vet was on time, and did a thorough job of examining my cats and giving them thier vaccinations. Strangely though once finished i was told THEN, that they dont take credit cards...OR cheques.... I understand that they have to protect themselves from non payers, but they should have told me that on the phone and I would have had cash ready for them.
I have also brought my cats into the clinic. The clinic itself is small located on a residential street. The receptionists were friendly and this time I saw a female vet, who I liked much more.
When looking for a vet, you can do all your research, but it is important that you click with them too. Am I a fan of the cat clinic, not really, but as far as care for my cats go they have been good.Listed in: For the love of our Fur Kids
