My boyfriend and I love Thai cuisine and we agree that this is the best Thai place in Vancouver. The food is very authentic and is clearly prepared with a lot of thought and care. The yellow curry is absolutely addictive! This restaurant is definitely not trendy, but that's part of it's charm - it's a refreshing change from the noisy, hipster joints that are taking over the city. It's a good place for a quiet, relaxing dinner, as you can actually hear your companions. The staff are always very kind and attentive without being overbearing. It usually isn't very busy, which always amazes us... definitely a hidden gem.

Was waiting for a friend at Future Shop and yelped there to find a nearby Thai place to go to for an early dinner.  Was hopeful with such high reviews.

Ordered a Vegetarian Green Curry to share.

This restaurant must be a better value for lunch- I saw a reviewer's pic of the special: curry, rice, spring roll $10?- because I was quite surprised at the dinner option.  Order the curry for $13.95 and to get rice it's $2 more.  So now my expectations are higher for basically green curry for $16.  (Does anyone who's not on low-carb diet eat green curry without rice??)

Green Curry at Khai Thai:  Taste was spot on.  Was watery soup consistency.  Was Tom Yum Soup consistency.  Was not good value for money!  Was so glad we decided to split it and get out of there.

I read someone who described there being a kitsch factor and that is an apt description.  My impressions were so-so.  Didn't like it, didn't hate it, meh.  For a "fancy" Thai dinner, wouldn't be my first pick.

Stopped by here for a late lunch. Bought Pad Kee Mao. Was roughly $10 bucks, food was good but portion was a bit small.

As this was lunch, at 10 bucks, I would kind of expect to be full. Food was good though.

If the portion was a bit bigger, I would of given it a 5.

Enjoy a truly Thai experience with delicious authentic food in a serene southeast asian restaurant environment with gracious and traditionally-dressed servers - casual and decently-priced with all menu items under $15.

3.5 out of 5. I enjoyed lunch with some co-workers today, who frequent this spot. It was my first time and I was pleasantly surprised with my meal. I ordered the spicy green curry chicken in coconut milk with eggplant, pepper and basil leaves and served with a mound of white rice, spring roll and starter salad ($10). It was perfectly spicy and flavourful! A friend recommended the Thai Iced Tea ($4.50) - great choice for something different. I recommend both!

I wouldn't make a special trip to come here by car, but if you're in downtown Vancouver, this is a great spot to hit up every once 'n a while. With its price point and good taste, I could see Khan Thai having a solid regular base.

Very friendly staff.  Good service.  Beautiful interior.  Very classy place, very Thai traditonal.  Two people made a meal of Chicken salad roll, Laab Chicken, Moo Ping and Sticky Rice with Mango.  Price was low compared to the quality of service and food.  Highly recommend.

Love Thai food, and Khai Thai was right on. The inside is so nice in this place. Peaceful and sunny from skylights and lots of plants everywhere. The service was a little scattered and slow, but we were in no rush.

The Saturday night special was cocktails inside a coconut... love kitsch.

Food was very nice and plentiful and good value. The atmosphere wasn't deafening like many places these days (says the grumpy old girl).

I do tend to be effusive with love when I discover a new fave, and this isn't necessarily in that category, but it is a good bet for a decent Thai meal out.

The Pad Thai is pretty generic, only it's a little watery. Nothing to write home about, and since it's a staple "go-to, hard to screw up" dish for a thai place, I can only assume the rest of the menu is unassuming as well.

The staff here didn't seem overwhelmed when we were there right after the Canucks won game 5 in the Stanley Cup, just disorganized. The restaurant still wasn't that crowded and it took forever to take our order and get our bill. Didn't seem like they have servers dedicated to specific sections, just staff wandering amongst all tables, and who don't know who has taken what order.

Disorganized staff, and slightly average food mean I probably won't return. I was expecting more based on the favorable yelp rating.

I think I found my new favorite Thai place within stumbling distance!

Upon entering the entrance you find a very pleasant atmosphere. Vaulted ceilings, original Thai artwork and sculptures compliment the area tastefully.

Service was very quick and I had a server over to me suggesting dishes and flavors.

I ordered the lunch special with Green Curry, Salad, Spring roll, rice and Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp. I ordered the curry with 2 out of 5 stars spicy.

The food arrived quickly and I found the salad was a bit generic the curry was really tasty. The right mix of sweet and spicy to maintain the flavors through the eggplant and chicken.  The Tom Yum Soup was full of mushroom and shrimp. They didn't cheap out on it at all!

The vegetables were fresh and just crisp enough while not being under cooked. The rice was a very generous portion and more then ample for the meal.

I will continue to enjoy this restaurant, trying one dish at a time until I have explored the entire Menu,

We just ordered in from this place and surprisingly, it was pretty good.  It is so hard to find a good and reasonable priced thai rest in Van. esp downtown area. We ordered the food over the phone and within 20mins, it arrived! (we only lived few blocks away from there but stilL!)

Anywyas, the guy on the phone was very nice and friendly, service was good.  We ordered Pad Thai(the basic noodle), Green curry with pork and Yum WoonSum Salad.(we asked to be less spicy but ended up VERy spicy still) I do understand that is traditional thai food but if you can't take spicy, REMEMBER to ask for NOn SPIcy at all.  Green curry was excellent. Pad thai was in teh sweet side but it was a good balance from the curry we ordered.

We would highly recommended this place and would likely order from there again.  Fast delivery and superb service and reasonable price.

I was brought here on a lunch date by the lovely Nicole F. since we both work in the same 'hood. Unfortunately for this restaurant there is some really LOUD construction outside of it, which probably deters people from going in, but luckily the place is pretty soundproof so once you are inside you don't have to listen to the noise.

I had the Pad Thai, even though I was eyeballing the eggplant dish, but it was Friday which meant I was allowed to over-consume some carbs. I also noticed they have daily drink specials, so each day has a fancy cocktail for $5.95. And on Saturday the cocktail comes served in a COCONUT! YES PLEASE! My lunch came pretty quickly, was very filling and after tax and tip was like $13, so I was happy.

The place is decorated a lot which gives the restaurant a nice ambiance, and all the servers are dressed in purple suits that match. The bathrooms are standard, and the sink where you wash your hands is like a trough. I was mildly irritated with the person who used one of the stalls last and decided to put T.P. down to cover the seat so their precious ass wouldn't get contaminated by public bathroom-ness, and then left it there. Hi, please clean up after yourself you grotesque pig. Not all people using public bathrooms A. have diseases you need to shield yourself from, and B. want to clean up after your dirty ass.

I will be returning to Khai Thai for that eggplant dish, since the purple veggie is one of my favourites.

    Praise Jeebus!

I have found amazing Pad Thai.

I'm never going back to the food court. Thank you Khai Thai for showing me the light.

I decided to check this place out on my lunch break with a coworker on Tuesday and again today. SO TASTY.

The restaurant itself is really cute. The music is nice and subtle and the decor is really pretty.

We were seated right away both times and the food comes out very quickly. The portions are HUGE. I managed to get about halfway through before I called it quits and got it packed up to go.

The Pad Thai comes with either Tofu or Chicken and you can add Prawns for $2. I wouldn't recommend bothering with the prawns as you only get 3 of them. The tofu/chicken should suffice.

The spice was just right. It wasn't an intense burning OH MY GAWD GET ME SOME WATER pain or anything like that. I also found that it didn't need any salt, which is saying a lot because I am a salt fiend. It comes with a perfect amount of ground up peanuts and some bean sprouts that you mix in yourself. My only suggestion would be maybe to add some broccoli. I just love broccoli a lot. I think it should be in everything that is not a dessert.

Finishing up and trying to leave is kind of slow. They don't really seem to notice when you've very clearly stopped eating and are waiting for them to come pack up your food. We also had to ask for the bill twice.

Other than that, it's awesome. I will be back.

It's ok, not stellar. The pad Thai was acceptable but pedestrian. I'm looking for fresher flavours in Thai food. I will probably go back again and try something different, just to give it another shot.

I was in town for a conference and had a hankering for some good Thai food. Strolling along Robson, saw this place down the street and decided to go for it. What a happy discovery! The waitpeople were very friendly, and it was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. I ordered the Shoo Shee with salmon (I had to have salmon, being in Vancouver after all!). and it was absolutely delicious. The presentation was lovely as well. If I'm ever back in town I'm sure I'll visit again! :)

Went to Khai Thai on Saturday during the Olympics. We wouldn't have gone here but every single other restaurant around (especially all on Robson) were just packed with people. Khai Thai was about a block away and had ZERO wait time.

The food was OK but there was absolutely no spice to my Pad Thai. Portions were pretty good for the price. The server kept on trying for the party of six I was in to get appetizers, which was getting old after the third time she tried, but just keep strong and don't get pressured.

The ambiance was pretty nice, with some good Thai-style decorations and such all around. Had a cozy little fireplace in the back by the kitchen.

All in all, I would say fairly average Thai restaurant. I'm bumping this to a four star review because it's definitely a place to hit if you're hungry during the Olympics.

This is one of the better Thai Restaurants in the city when you consider price and value ! It is a clean, full service restaurant that offers good food at a reasonable price. And they even have a cocktail menu.

The waitstaff is friendly and food came out quick and in excellent quality. It was not very spicy though what I usually expect when I order a curry.

What I like about it as well is, that this is a real Restaurant Atmosphere and that makes it nice to sit for while to actually enjoy your dinner. Other Thai Restaurants (especially the one down on Seymour) have sometimes a fast food style interior.

Prices are as mentioned very reasonable and this place makes a nice casual dinner opportunity !

    Enjoy !

The food was OK, but value for money was poor and there are so many better restaurants in the vicinity.

Go Go Thai (not a genuine Thai restaurant, but what is in Vancouver?) just down the road blows this restaurant away for quality of food, although the ambience here is better for a sit down meal. So what do you want, good food or ambience?

Girlfriend and I were visiting Vancouver from San Francisco in feb. Just happened to stumble upon this place bc there was no parking at another thai restaurant downtown that had been recommended.  As we walked in there was not one soul dining at the restaurant at 8pm on saturday night.  This scared us a little but we went in anyway.  We ordered pad thai, green curry, that cocunut milk soup, and some fried banana dessert and I have to say that I was impressed.  It was all delicious.  The staff was very friendly and attentive.  I'm still not sure why there were not anymore people dining here. Overall great food, great service, clean and big restaurant, and parking lot across the street. A must when visiting Vancouver.

Place had terrible service at about 8'o'clock at night. Took 30 minutes for each of us to get our food. We went in at 8 and left at 10:30 ridiculous! The food was decent very watery. Nothing special about this place... Not very good either. Try a different place.

Decent, reasonably priced Thai food in a prime downtown location. We came in here to pick up some takeout and were quite happy with the speed of service. My dining partner and I shared the pad thai with tofu and the vegetarian red curry. The red curry was definitely the more spicy of the two and we both thought it was delicious; the pad thai wasn't the best I've had but it was also quite tasty and came with decent portions of veggies and tofu. For decent Thai food in the 'hood, I would come back to try more of their dishes.

The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and I haven't eaten at any other Thai place since finding this gem.

Don't hold your breath for the food. I had the daily house special of clear soup noodles which I thought should be a straightforward peasant fare that couldn't possibly go wrong - I was too optimistic. The soup was not nearly as hot (spicy) as I was warned, and its taste too watered down. Would've given this a 2-star if it weren't for the nicely decorated ambience and very friendly service

This is not bad for Thai restaurants, clean and good service. They have a special lunch menu which ranges around 12 bucks. Their pad thai and curry dishes are fail proof. Stay away from the stir fry dishes (they are not that great, too salty and rice/noodles floating/soaking in sauces). I prefer the Simply Thai in Yaletown (but of course it is a bit more expensive). Lots of seatings for groups (6-8 people).

Was here from out of town for the Canucks crowd on 6/10/11.  The service was fine, the food was good.  The Pad See-Eew was slightly different than I prefer (not quite as dark) but the Pad Kee Mow was fantastic.  Overall a great value and good food.  Definitely worth visiting for some authentic Thai in a nice location.
