I was looking online for a gift for a friend who is a new mommy. I found a pretty touching gift--a necklace with two engraved charms. I knew my friend would love something mushy like that. But I didn't want to pay $200+ CDN for a frigging necklace, especially when it's for someone else! Then the thought popped into my head: I can get it done for cheaper! Enter Key Man Engravables.
When I walked in, there were about 3 other people in front of me. I remember looking around and when I turned back, the lady had already come up to me to see if I need help. She was able to understand my idea of the necklace and she found the two pendants to engrave. I then wrote out the engraving and she counted it twice to make sure she had the number of letters and then made me count it once more to ensure it was correct. I loved her efficiency.
While I was waiting for her to count out the letters, I looked around and noticed that they have some good gift ideas in the store. They have everything from flasks and beer mugs, picture frames, keepsake and jewelry boxes, to gifts for graduation, weddings and other special occasions.
I ended up buying a Liquor Pump for a friend who loves to bartend and got that engraved too, with a suggestion from the sales lady. She was really helpful.
In the end, the necklace ended up being significantly cheaper than the one I saw online and I received it quicker as my whole order was ready in an hour. I love this store and this location made my experience easy and pain-free, which isn't always the case in a mall around Christmastime.
Funny enough, I've never gone to Key Man Engravables to get keys made. Maybe I should someday. -

I got my boyfriend an engraved flask for Christmas from this store. I would give this place just one star based on the astoundingly bad customer service I experienced. The second comes only because I was happy with the end result. What a misery!
Me: "I'd like to get a flask engraved"
Clerk: ...blank stare
Me: " Can I look at them?"
Clerk: (raises one eyebrow)
Me"...are all the cases locked, or...?"
Clerk: (scoffs) "Obviously" (rolls eyes)
Overall not just poor service during a busy time, but downright hostile. Next time I need something engraved (???) I will plan ahead and find somewhere else ( I would have walked out had I not been in a huge hurry). After reading the other posts I know I should not take it personally, however I will never go back. -

If you're interested in becoming a gigantic DOUCHE, then this place is your first stop in training.
I understand that everyone has an off-day, but this was so bad I had to warn all.
I wanted to buy a gift for my Dad (a new grandpa), so I went in bright and early one Saturday morning. It was 5 mins before stores opened but many stores at this point had their gates open and were accepting shoppers. I walked into Key Man Engravables two minutes before to browse.
Although the lights were on and doors wide open, the manager, we'll call him 'John' said, verbatim:
'We are not open. Leave.' (Yep, that's what you read.)
I complied and returned a few minutes later because I really wanted this gift. Upon return, 'John' just sat behind the counter reading a magazine even though I made it clear that I was there to buy. Every question was met with disdain and an annoyed sigh.
Although he refused to point out items that could be ready the same day, he got mad when I brought over an item that wasn't same-day.
Once he gave me the order form, he snapped at me for filling out my name and address "Don't fill that out!! Just the words you want engraved!". Um, ok...why didn't you say that in the first place?
When I asked how things can be positioned on the item, he retorted: "YOU don't ask the questions, I ask the questions!".
I was very nice, bordering on pushover up until that last remark.
I explained that I would no longer tolerate his disdainful disposition.
I also suggested he consider a career move from retail to prison guard. -

What a complete A-HOLE. My sister has been going all over the place trying to get a key cut for a new deadbolt their landlord put in. So I got the key description and thought I would call in and ask if they could tell me if they have it in stock.
Me: "Hi there, I have a key that needs to be cut and I was wondering if you could tell me if you have it in stock..."
Clerk: (Interrupting): "You have to bring it in."
Me: "Well, I thought maybe you could tell me if you have this model before I went all the way there for nothing..."
Clerk: "You have to give me the code. I just can't tell you if we have it if you don;t give me that."
Me: "If you would give me a chance I can tell you."
Clerk: "Ok."
Me: "Silver, brand is DOREX, model number engraved is XXX12345"
Clerk: "That means nothing to me, that's not a model number. You have to go to Lock Smitt."
Me: "Sorry"
Clerk: "Lock Smidd."
Me: "Do you mean lock smith?"
Clerk "Yes, Lock Smidd."
Me: "OK, well can you recommend one to me to go to?"
Clerk: "No, go look in the yellow pages."
What a frigging asshole customer service. Never will I ever give this place my money. Jerk.
* Edited to add: Canadian Tire did it for us and actually had some courtesy. Imagine that, Key Man!!
