Kerrisdale Cameras on Lonsdale Ave. in North Vancouver has been around for years. I bought my first camera from them and have received the same great service every time I return. In fact, the same guys still work their from over ten years ago when I made my first visit. They have a great team of knowledgeable photographers who are open to chat about any topic photography related.
I often pass by just to check out their window display. They've often got some interesting older cameras on sale for good prices. The new stuff is all locked up behind the counter inside...and I don't blame them.
Kerrisdale Cameras sells a wide selection of photography equipment and cameras for photographers of all levels. They also offer printing services. I've referred many beginners to them because they are so knowledgeable and really help a new photographer pick the camera that is best for them. Everyone has their own preferences and they take that to mind when helping people out.
I've purchased several used lenses here and never had a problem with them. I returned a product once and they had no problem giving me a refund (Of course it was a reasonable excuse to return the product).
If you're in North Vancouver and in need of a Pro Photo Shop definitely pay a visit to Kerrisdale Cameras. -
Review from Sean K.
Called to verify that they process passport photos. They confirmed and said it would take about 5 minutes. I didn't think to ask if taking passport photos of a 2 year old would be an issue.
I showed up with my son and the gentleman behind the counter said that they couldn't take passport photos of children. I asked why and was told that the photos always seem to come out over exposed. He did say 'we can try' but his body language was total 'I don't want to deal with this!'
He suggested going to Lynn Valley Mall as they are better equipped to handle this.
I'd considered myself a decent amateur photog. I went here due to time limitations but I ended up taking the photo myself and printing at home. Nothing about that experience gives me a desire to return. I can understand if he is using an instant camera and was concerned that he might waste a bunch of instants/paper on trying to get the right shot given the subject is a two year old. He obviously would not make any money in an already small transaction. What I do I have issue with is the lame excuse that the photos would be over exposed. Be honest with your (potential) customers and you might score higher marks. -

Sadly, the bloom is off the rose. I wish I could give Kerrisdale Cameras two ratings. One for the used and film camera part along with expertise and a very different one for customer service.
The five stars I gave them earlier was a reflection of the excellent help I got when I went there for a camera and lenses. However, the mask came off when I went by for some basic accessories - a strap and camera backpack.
The first response to queries about a strap was, "why, didn't you get one with your camera?" Questions about bags were answered with "we have what's on the wall." Really? You want to give me attitude when I'm here to give you my business? Well, that's a self-correcting problem.
I'll still go here for my used and film camera needs, but not any longer for digital. Shame, really, it is such a cool looking store.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I went to Kerrisdale Cameras to get passport photos taken. If you're looking for somewhere on the North Shore to get the photos take, I would highly recommend going there. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Price was approx. $13.
