Ice cream!!!
This bright little shop is a walk-in walk-out situation and when I went there on a Saturday afternoon was MOBBED with eager kids and their parents.
The proprietors, dressed in cute striped uniforms, had the patience of saints while the littluns tried out flavor after flavor on their tiny spoons before deciding on what they wanted. I was totally patient, too. Totally.
I went with sorbet -- although there was some interesting sounding ice cream, like macha, that they were out of -- and small coupe had two flavors. The hibiscus was really nice, if a little too sweet but the lime mint was divine.Listed in: Sweet teeth : cupcakes,…, O Canada (Montreal)

* Charming little ice cream nook *
The co-owners Vincent & Ngoc greeted us as we stepped into the small take-away storefront framed by a brightly coloured welcoming exterior (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...).
There was a small selection of freshly made premium ice creams and sorbets, and Ngoc was like a friendly neighbourhood pusher handing out free combination samples (that first addictive taste is always free, right?).
Ngoc: "Try this passionfruit sorbet with vanilla ice cream."
Us: (Silent appreciation of the complex flavours)
Ngoc: "Try this 72% chocolate with mango sorbet."
Us: (Silent appreciation continuing)
Ngoc: "Have you tried....."
It went on and before we got to order we had pretty much tried all of the selection of flavours (without even asking!). They were all superb, but her first two were the winners.
Ngoc also gave away a little secret about the 72% chocolate ice "cream" in that it doesn't have any cream in it. She makes it with milk and butter to control the fat content. Go figure! It was delicious, particularly when paired with the sweet and creamy yet slightly acidic mango. The perfect flavour pairing.
The tart passionfruit sorbet complemented the smooth rich vanilla ice cream in what I can only describe as a creamsicle styled for the sophisticated palate.
My enjoyment of both was so high that I actually forgot to snap any photos - sorry!
This place is a gem, with really friendly service from the co-owners who clearly have a strong passion for producing the best product possible.Listed in: Bon Vivant Montreal Edition

Review from Lesley T.
I was away from Montreal for a good handful of hot summer days. "I can't believe I haven't had an ice cream from Bilboquet yet this summer!" I cried upon return. But my friends, they couldn't stop talking about this place Kem CoBa, the new artisanal iced treat kid on the block. Something had shifted while I was away.
And so, after having been suitably plied with gin and tonic at a literary event one night, my friend and I made a late night stop at Kem CoBa. It's a small, brightly coloured shop on Fairmount. It's takeout only, but that's perfect for a summer stroll through Mile End. The owners, a couple, are very friendly. I stood there indecisively, and Vincent offered tasting samples to help me make the tough choice.
My friend has fallen for their homemade soft serve, a twist of two flavours that changes every so often. The ice cream and sorbet flavours are unusual and inspired. I opted for sorbet - half hibiscus and half mint-lime. Sublime, my friends. -

Delicioussssss ice cream - try the 80% chocolate one (maybe it was 70%? I don't remember exactly, but it sure was wonderful!).
Super friendly staff, and you should feel comfortable trying as many samples as you like. -

Omg what an awesome little spot. Amazing owners and very very delicious sorbet & frozen yogurt. Soo fresh and tasty lime & mint and chai was perfect for this beautiful day. I can't wait to try everything else.

Kem CoBa was so good that I went there twice in the same day! Its texture is more like gelato, but it is leaps and bounds ahead of Bilboquet, which was quite lacklustre. Outstanding owners who offer plenty of samples and great service, too - you can really tell that they take pride in their work. Don't pass this place up!
