Review from Joanna N.
The service here is exquisite! The staff is very attentive.
For appetizers, I tried the calamari, mushroom caps, and escargot.
For an entree, I had the blue cheese filet, Chicago style, cooked medium in the middle. Chicago style is where they cook the filet in butter to get a char on the outside, and then you can get the inside done to the degree of your liking.
Per the recommendation of the waiter, I had the baked potato with 3 cheese & the works (bacon, sour cream, and scallions) to accompany the filet.
I also tried bites of the steak filet and double baked potato (with bits of bacon).
Clearly, I had to hit the gym after this dinner! But it was well worth it! :) -

These stars I have awarded are mostly for the patio and great staff. The patio is beautiful, complete real vegetation, comfy patio furniture, ceiling heating lamps and fireplaces. It's a great place to hang out with friends for a drink, or six all year round. The interior has this great modern, cozy feel to it. Definitely somewhere to come for the atmosphere.
(Generally, I enjoy the food at the keg.) However, the food at this Keg is inconsistent. I've been here a few times now and most of the time my med-rare steak has been overdone, and I had to send it back which I feel really bad about, but overcooked steak is just not appealing... There was also the case of the 7/11-thick-gloopy-nacho cheese sauce lookalike that was supposed to be a bechamel atop the chicken.
Well anyways... stick to apps and drinks you'll be more than pleased on that beautiful patio. But if you want better Keg food, I recommend you visit the one on Willlingdon. -

Keg: please get better beer.
Heineken and Molson M on tap? Yuck.
Bottle selection - oh, you have Innis & Gunn and Brooklyn Pennant Ale? Innis & Gunn - for people who can't commit fully to bourbon. What's the point?
Okay - I like Brooklyn Brewery - but one drinkable beer on your entire menu? Bleh. -
Review from Jeff F.
Consistency... it can be a great thing... it can be a sign of boredom... but in the case of the Keg... they just do it right... pretty much all the time. Service was great... food was pretty much bang on like it was last time I was there (quite a while ago actually)... drinks were good.... All this at the bar area because the dining room was full.
Not my usual go to place anymore... but definitely good in a pinch! -
Review from Meana k.
This place warrants an update, and I promise to deliver that once I've been back and tasted more off the menu. For now, what struck me is that the ambiance in this Yaletown location is one of the best I've seen in the city so far.
Rooftop patio -- say no more. This place is so beautifully decorated, comfortable and inviting with fireplaces and lounge chairs, cushioned benches, tables well spaced apart so your party feels exclusive and special. Great lighting, great artwork, not a million LCDs blaring the game in every corner, lovely view of the city... I could go on.
What I can't rave about is the service. Oh my gosh, the servers here are trained to be pretty, not smart. For example, don't bother asking any questions about the wine list or food preparation. And yes, I expect a good server to have some knowledge of these things or to admit if they don't know and check with the kitchen or bar manager.
The food -- admittedly, we didn't eat much. We were having drinks and appys. However, a great plus was the fresh hot bread and butter that was served in abundance. I love restaurants that do this. Even when I'm trying to cut my carbs and there's no way to resist, this is such a nice touch that too many restaurants have omitted as they're cutting costs. The calamari was unfortunately a big miss. It had such great potential! Jalapeno and red peppers, two dips, tentacles and rings. I saw the plate and was certain I'd love it. However, the calamari felt like it had a soggy texture. Maybe next time it'll be better. What was nice, however, was the truffle macaroni and cheese dish. Mmm tasty. Not much truffle, but the cheesiness was perfect.
Overall, I like the uniqueness of the restaurant's ambiance. I did not care for the service. I reserve full judgement on the food until I've tried the steaks and had more options, although really, how do you mess up calamari? -
Review from Namit M.
The Keg is a decent mid price steakhouse. The Yaletown location offers warm clean decor, with uber high ceilings.
The rib steak I ordered had a little too much marbelling for me, but the steak was cooked well. The mashed potatoes were excellent.
Not a huge fan of their deserts. The service is friendly. -

The patio is the best part about this Keg in the summer, so when the summer is over it's not exactly a top pick.
The food is average. Usually better to go with the fattening appetizers which are always tasty.
The fireplaces are welcoming on a cold winter night. The staff is friendly enough and welcome you as you walk through the door.
It's a nice place to go for a drink at the end of the night, if that's what you're looking for. It gets fairly busy.
Yet, in spite of all of these things, it is still just a Keg after all. -

I know I know--the Keg is so standard, but it's a good ol' go-to for a reason. The yaletown is particularly good because 1) it's very modern 2) service is AMAZING 3) they take online reservations 4) food is greeaat!!! 5) it's the Keg!!! Parking is a bit of a you-know-what but there is cheaper parking in the area if you are willing to hoof it. or take public transit, or carpool. It's worth it!
PS. Their NYE menu rocks!!!!!!!!! As do their sourdough bread and that ice cream pie..mmmm, and oh, the steaks! And yeah, if you don't care for underdressed pre-pubescent waitresses then you will love this place even more. It's classy, yet not over-the-top pretentious stuff! -

Birthday dinner for a friend, she was in the mood for steak.
After a not so stellar time at The Keg on Thurlow, we were a bit hesitant, but all the fabulous reviews here made us opt for this location.
It was a Sunday night, around 830, so not too busy. We were given a table right when you walk in, so we never got to see much of anything, let alone the patio to which everyone raves about. I am assuming since it's mid November, the patio was closed.
Our waitress reminded us of a robot. Not personable at all, in fact she was rather phony/condescending. We would of much rather of been served by the French girl who conversed with us briefly, or the girl who came around to ask about our meals, but it was not to be.
I ordered a Bellini, my GF had a blue freezee martini, and my BF had a Caesar.
My drink was OK... I guess after the ones at Joeys that were sooooo good this one was lame in comparison. I give it a 5.5/10 The other drinks were OK, as I didn't hear any complaints.
We all ordered our meals. It seemed to take quite a while for them to arrive. My steak and twice baked potato were good, but my shrimp were undercooked. Decided rather then send them back, I decided I would take them home and have my BF char them up the way I like them.
We received a plate of veggies. We were not sure if they were my BFs ( as he had requested a side of zucchini ) or for all of us to share. They were slightly over cooked, yet not warm. Almost like they were old, left over and then re heated. Too bad, because the assortment would of been yummy.
My boyfriend's salmon was OK, but the Oscar sauce that he added left much to be desired. (He works at a restaurant and said he suspects that they didn't use real butter. or it was a butter margarine blend in the sauce. He also couldn't taste the tarragon, but the scallops and prawns in it were good )
My friend (who's belated birthday we were celebrating) ordered the blue cheese steak with twice baked potato, She really enjoyed it, so that's what really mattered.
I ordered another drink-a Singapore sling. It was so bad I sent it back. It was like the pineapple juice wasn't shaken up, it was watery, and lacked grenadine and cherry whiskey. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. The manager on duty came over to apologize, and we traded it in for another Bellini, which was better then the first one, but still not as good as it could of been.
All in all, the waitress left much to be desired, the drinks were not great, the food was adequate, but for 175$ we should of gone somewhere else. -

Wow what an impressive letdown.
Being from Portland, I wanted to see an upscale bar/cocktail lounge with a rooftop patio. I was told there would be a 45 minute wait for the patio. So we dined non-al fresco.
I started with the French Martini. Ummm, excuse me, there are ice cubes in my drink. That felt sloppy and more like a $6 Red Robin cocktail than a fancy upscale place. Maybe that's just me.
I thought the service was good.
The menu looked outrageous. I can handle $40 steak but only if the rest of the menu entices me. . .this menu let me down. We split the scallops covered in bacon and they were good, not great. Some were rubbery. It wasn't worth complaining. They were okay.
I don't know, Yelpers. I guess I wanted to be "WOWed" and this place just let me down. Not impressed. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't that good.
Three words: good, not great. A $40 bill was pretty "meh"-y indeed.Listed in: The Columbia of the North,…

Review from Sarah D.
Two words: Lobster Fest. Yeah, yeah -I know it's mean to write about the Keg's Lobster Fest once it's gone until next year, but oh MAN is it ever good. This year on my birthday I was a very lucky girl, and my sister bought me a hundred dollar gift card for the Keg. She said "I know you've never had lobster before [yes, you read the right] so I want you to treat yourself." Now, it's not that I've never tried lobster because I am against it for any reason. Sure, they mate for life and there are lonely lobsters out there because of predators like us, but I had honestly just never ordered it because it seemed so indulgent.
Well, it was high time for a change. One August evening, my husband and I decided to head to the Keg in Yaletown for their Lobster Fest before it was over, and boy, am I glad we did. We both ordered the steak and half lobster dinner (ohhhh baby), as well as the lobster au gratin starter and a bottle of wine. Yep, we were livin' large. Being that it was my first time eating lobster, there was a bit of a learning curve, especially when it came to cracking the claw. At one point, the claw slipped out of my hands and flew onto the floor. I'm not ashamed to admit that I still ate it, and subsequently my friends have told me they'd do the same thing. Either my friends and I are gross, or it's totally normal. I'll let YOU decide.
Overall, the meal was quite possibly one of the best I've ever had thus far in my life. The service we got was excellent: the waitress was attentive and friendly, but not too stuffy and formal like you get in some steakhouses. The location itself it, like the neighbourhood its in, trendy and upscale. My only qualm is that we didn't get to sit on the patio, which I hear is amazing and thus everyone tries to snap up a seat. In any case, this is a great spot to come for a special occasion. -
Review from Amanda L.
This location has a really cool vibe to it, its very modern and doesnt and I surprisingly really enjoyed their music on the Friday night I stopped in.
Me and my boyfriend split nachos, bruschetta and tempura battered beans and asparagus.
The nachos were a complete flop, very little topping and the guacamole that came with it was that salty pre made store bought crap. The bruschetta was really good but the portion was pretty small. The tempura battered beans and asparagus were surprisingly good but could have used something a little nicer then just soy sauce to dip them in.
Our waiter was super sweet but as the restaurant got busy it got a little difficult to flag him down. -
Review from Edward L.
Normally I'm not a fan of steakhouses (read: ripoff) but I was reasonably impressed with the Keg. I haven't been here in years (maybe 2006?), and can swear they've brought up the quality of their food since my last visit.
Parking here is almost non-existent, thanks to the location being in Yaletown. However, the Canada Line is only a couple of blocks away.
We came here to check out the famous patio up top on the 3rd floor. This definitely delivers. It combines the coziness of a living room (complete with fireplace) with the outside air of a balcony. This section of the restaurant deserves a special mention. I would like to shake the hand of the guy who designed this.
Service is great. Staff are friendly, but service was a bit slow. We had trouble flagging down someone several times during the evening.
As for the food?
The bread was fresh and hot, and was some sourdough variety. It would've been nice if they had made the cuts more deeply though, as we had trouble separating the pieces and had to resort to stabbing it with our knives.
I had a chance to try the Flatiron Steak and the Grilled Top Sirloin (both rare). I'm a fan of thicker steaks, and they did not disappoint. The meat was juicy and savoury. The sides were pretty good, with a couple of strips of red pepper and asparagus. I actually like this much more than steamed broccoli or cauliflower.
As for the drinks, you have to try the 1664 Blanc (wheat beer). It has an orange kick to it. Haven't seen this served at any other establishment so far.
Come for the patio, stay for the food~ -
Review from Vincci L.
This Keg has a wonderful rooftop patio, one that Vancouver really needs more of. Take the elevator up, and as you exit, you will be awed with the tall buildings of Yaletown in the surroundings, fireplaces, and a swanky bar in the middle. This is the place to be. Sunken areas for tables, and I especially like the high top tables where you can truly take in the atmosphere.
You can't really go wrong with the Keg- I've always had good food and good service. Prime rib is awesome, and when it's lobster season, you can combo it up. Truffle mac & cheese is also available as a side. Order it!
I'm also impressed with their appies: their crab, spinach and artichoke dip is always a good choice.
Drinks are reasonably priced. A good martini list, geared towards the sweeter drinks. Bellini's here are also yummy.
Did I mention dessert? Billy Miner pie, creme brulee, chocolate cake....They also have these 'mini' sized desserts, for those wanting something sweet but not willing to commit to a full sized one. Delicious! -

The Keg in Yaletown has the best rooftop patio! It is amazingly spacious and well organized, allowing sunlight in from all corners. When it gets dark or too cold, they have a retractable roof!
They do their steaks well, and I usually have been pleased with them. They are one of the only places (so far) that have cooked my chicago-style steak right. Many other restaurants char it to the point where it is inedible.
Drinks are good, nothing too fancy, but solid and consistent. -
Review from Irena L.
This is my favourite Keg location. It is very spacious, and I like the decor.
Generally Keg has good food, nothing spectacular, nothing I will be craving for for ages, but good. Steaks are not the best I've had, but not the worst either.
I would give it 3.5 stars.
It is one of those places where you will take your man out when he wants meat...a lot of it...since he will probably finish your steak as well (portions are quite generous):) -
Review from Dennis C.
One of my more preferred steakhouses, and it happens to be a canadian thing...
The steaks here arent the best ive ever had, its not even close... but its above average. What I like most about this franchise is the twice-baked potato they have as a side... god that thing is sooooooo good.
Ive had the NY strip, and ive had the prime rib before on my last trip to Canada. I would stay stick with the prime rib.. the steak isnt bad, but its nothing special... prime rib is nothing special either, but its fairly hard to find a decent prime rib at any establishment to begin with... and these people do it pretty well. Dont forget to ask for horseradish!! its nice and spicy.
Now... this franchise based on food alone, is easily a 3.5, maybe 4 depending on how familiar you are to fine steaks/prime rib. I'm a snob thats eaten all over the world.. this place is a franchise, so its as good as you can ask for in a franchise.
BUT the reason why i give this particular location a 5-star review is because the service is impeccable... the venue itself is nicely done too... very comfortable. me and 2 others chose to eat in the lounge area, which is no different than the restaurant side i guess... i mean, its a table and 4 seats... little to no wait... 2 hours for the restaurant side... why the hell would you choose that side over the lounge? the lounge is much livelier too.
anyway, i digress... my party were done with appetizers, started chatting as time flew by... and the manager comes up to us and apologizes for the wait... huh? what? what wait??? i didnt even notice the food was taking long... but the manager offered a free dessert for each of us... SCORE!!! thats some damn good service!!!
so that brings this location to a soid 4-4.5 stars... but why the 5 stars? This location is in the yuppie/hipster/douche area of downtown Vancouver... and the talent that works here is top notch... the waitresses/hostesses are pretty damn hot and very friendly. Would have given them 6-stars if they were allowed to drink with you...
***
LIKES: The talent working here... and i guess the talent that dines here too.... lots of hot ladies.
DISLIKES: The douches that come with those hot females
VERDICT: GIMME THAT TWICE BAKED POTATO!! -

A keg in Yale Town? Seems like the last thing that is needed until you are on the top patio. They have gone all out and this place is worth checking out. Great view and the baseball steak always works for me.

Review from Kayti C.
I would like to start this out by saying the Keg is by no means my idea of a fun night out. They're everywhere, and how could something that's so common be so fantastic. Well first things first - you MUST eat on the roof. At first when they told me the only available seats were on the roof I thought great: Rickety tables, gale force winds (it was raining) and wet food. Quite the contrary! It's actually nicer there than inside. It feels like you're still inside and the decor is beautiful. There are tons of heat strips on the "ceiling" and fireplaces all around. We sat right near the edge and next to a fireplace so we lucked out. I ordered the ribs and was so happy to see everything just fall off the bone. I also tried the lychee martini - a freaking must have. So delicious it was WORTH the ten bucks. The Keg is a bit overpriced for something you could probably get pretty close to the equivalent to at like... the Black Angus or something. But it's the ambiance that makes it. The servers are wonderful! They will pretty much do anything you ask. The service is quick, it's not too loud, if you have a jacket it's not cold at all. And they give each person a blanket to use if necessary (usually isn't). I loved it. If I'm ever back in yaletown this is where I'll eat. Not to mention it is easy as pie to catch a cab from the street in front.

So, maybe I won't ever be a huge "steak and potatoes" kind of gal, nor will I likely become a regular at the Keg, but I have to admit -this location is the swank!
The rooftop patio is romantic and dare I say it blows Joe Fortes patio out of the water - with it's fireplaces and lounge chairs, big bar and tvs! So it gets my four stars right there.
But, it almost got three... all because of their drink list. I have never had a problem choosing a drink. But here, I felt it unwise to make up an order as I watched the bartenders fumble with drink orders. Here, just for drinks, I settled on a Ceasar - one of my fave drinks - and watched as they made it in a short glass, over rimmed, over seasoned, no pepper -

WOW!
This was an AMAZING experience!
The 3-story Keg was absolutely gorgeous! The roof top patio was wonderfully decorated. The service was very good, a tad bit over-staffed, but I guess thats understandable since it was their opening night. (Its better safe than sorry)
The food was delicious!! The calamari was the most unique thing i've tried in a long time! i highly recommend ordering it, if you go there!
The steaks were cooked to perfection and were very tasty.
and last but DEFINITELY not last, the BREAD.
THE BREAD at the Keg always gets me!
Its always warm and delicious and soft and served with butter... of course! But here's the trick.... ask for their 3-cheese butter INSTEAD! Its a hundred billion times better than plain old butter!
I LOVED this keg, and i cant wait to go back!
unrelated note: This keg is the biggest and nicest Keg in all of North America (according to a few sources) and also had the most amount of money and effort put into it. -
Review from Peter S.
Kind of ironic that I was heading to the River Rock Casino after dinner. Because I left The Keg feeling like I had been jipped.
A $145 dinner for two with tip. Holy Steak House and Bar. I could have eaten a much better feast at The Pourhouse for that price.
Two martinis (premium), two glasses of Malbec and two steak dinners is what we got for that fortune. WOW.
This Keg is definitely one the fanciest I have been to, and our server was an absolute delight. I was just blown away by the final bill. The food was excellent, and the wine matched just right. All in all a classic A-OK! -

On Friday night, we had the honour of sampling the delicacies of Vancouver's newest Keg located in Yaletown. This was an invitation-only event (our boss got us tickets!) so the staff could practice. With a $5 dinner and 1/2 price drinks, there was really nothing to complain about!
We were seated on the rooftop patio - what a great spot! - which is reminiscent of some places I've been in Thailand. Fireplaces, wood, stone - a wonderful vibe. I only had a chance to glance at the main dining room, but it is glamourous and engaging.
The food was typical Keg fare, just at a better price! The service, though a practice run, was excellent - friendly and attentive, which is really all I can ask for!
The next time I'm feeling flush, I will definitely make another visit! Official opening is Monday 10 August! -

Yeah, it's the "sexy" keg.
This is like your favourite keg but ultra glammed up- taking the best lesson from cactus club: Hot servers and yuppie-vibe.
This IS the best keg location with like..3 floors, a massive heated rooftop patio that soaks up all the yaletown goodness on a sunny day- and a beautiful bar.
I know some of the people who work here so I'm giving a biased "excellent" for service.
The only thing wrong with this place is I'm kind of NOT okay with the hooched up pickup scene at the bar late at night. When I was here I saw plenty of singles roaming around the bar doing the bar stalking in club-wear. Kind of not right when this is a restaurant. Come here for a steak, stay for the drinks and randoms. But come here for the STEAK- don't just come here as if it's a club, ladies and gentleman. It's not.
PS: they give you blankets if your cold. so cozy!Listed in: Double Takes: not all…

Review from Amy Y.
Atmosphere: Posh, low-key modern decor in the interior- love the 4-tier industrial fire places that just make all the decor come together. The rooftop patio is gorgeous- open air lush wooden decor with lovely leather and velvet seats. Atmosphere is hip but grounded, there's a mixed crowd of young professionals with older couples but everyone looked at ease and enjoying the view and ambiance.
Service: Waitress and hostess made a really good team and made sure guests are enjoying themselves.
Food: French onion soup is covered with non Gruyere cheese but it's bursting with mouth-watering flavors nonetheless. I would order it again. I had the Prime Rib and it was tender, juicy and nicely marbled except a portion that's pure fat which it was left alone. Overall I enjoyed my evening at this Keg's location- and could imagine this place to be a regular hang out spot if I live in Yaletown. -

Keg may be a chain, but they created a damn good one by building a sleek, modern restaurant at Yaletown. All three floors has a different feel with sections of the restaurant changing from a cozy intimate feel to a wide open bar and finally leading to a roof deck patio in a setting that matches, rivals and even surpasses non-chain restaurants in terms of food and quality of service.
Steak lovers will be glad they joined the Taste of Yaletown event and at a $35 price that doesn't need much thinking. Other restaurants should be ashamed for this is not some stripped down sampler dishes. We're talking about full size portions from start to finish.
For starters, I would recommend the French Onion Soup with generous gruyere cheese. Or try the Baked Garlic Shrimp served with a slice of bread to dip into the garlic butter dripping.
I must admit the mains weren't tasty and every bite I wish I was back at Ruth's. I had the Baseball Sirloin with a side of twice baked potato and requested it Chicago-style. While the Keg Size Cut of Prime Rib I would admit was nothing great especially after you've had one at Lawry's. I still did enjoy the sides of garlic mashed potato and strips of fried onion.
My Mojito wasn't enjoyable either as it had not much Rum, too much club soda and not enough sweetness.
What won me over were the two King-size desserts of Creme Brulee with it's perfectly torched sugar as well as the Billy Miner Pie with it's chocolate cookie cum graham cracker crust with a thick slice of mocha ice cream, drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce then topped with thin almond slices.
The best part is the unobtrusive service that seems to arrive just at the right time when you need something and when you're glass is running empty.
I would definitely recommend this Yaletown location, but come early so you can enjoy a great dining experience and still skip the crowd coming in for the night life. -
Review from Mitch N.
The rooftop bar here is amazing! When the weather is nice, like it was when we were here, there are few places in North America that can match this sort of a roof top bar; like in New York City the Gansevoort Hotel, or 230 fifth.
The beers were fantastic, the bartenders even more so. We didnt eat anything, but had a group of 10 or so of us, and the one bartender did a perfect job of taking care of us.
What an awesome view this place has. -

Wicked patio. Had dinner with couple friends for a late dinner and the place was jammed. The patio is full of standing bar patrons, so if you want a table you have to eat. Open air and overhead heaters plus a fireplace, you'd wish you had the same setup in your backyard patio.
Our waitress was one of the best I've met in a long time. She sold us on the lobster dish at "hello". And I haven't met a waitress this good in years. I'd hire her to sell anything.
Only snacked, but the Lobster Gratine is awesome. Its apparently lobster summer, and my waitress says its when they taste the best, see she sold me. Also the Shrimp Cocktail here is so juicy, I have no idea how they make the shrimps so fat and juicy but I'm gonna find out. Finished off with Spniach & Crab dip, it was good pretty much same as everywhere else, but that's why I like it. -
Review from Darcy C.
Wow, wow, wow ... what a deck! This place has been open only two nights, and it's already packed, and I can see it staying that way until the weather gets truly nasty. Seriously, the rooftop patio is *lovely*- beautiful view of yaletown, with heaters, fireplaces, incredibly comfortable. And, good service- yes, there was a bit of a hard-sell push for upmarket items, but our waiter was also fine with us lingering over our wine after dinner.
I live in the neighborhood, and I can see myself having a real problem hanging out on that deck after work. Unfortunately, they don't take reservations for the deck, so it will be first-come, first-serve. Guess I just need to sneak out of work early .... -

Rooftop bar, swanky feel inside, upbeat music...what's not to love?
Other than their summer lobster fest (which has now passed, I know...I'm way behind on my reviews), I come for all the reasons other patrons come for and also because of their fantastic service.
The first time I came to this location, I sat at the bar since I didn't want to wait for a table. We ordered drinks, appetizers and a prime rib entree (Keg size). Not only was our water always refilled, but what I liked was that our waitress took the initiative to ask us if we'd like our entree split into two plates. Delicious AND brought home another portion since it was huge!
The second time we were there for lobster fest (sweet, tender, and succulent!) in addition to our must have prime rib. This time our waiter brought our entree out before the appetizer arrived, so the manager came out to apologize, comp us for the appetizer AND comp us a free dessert. WOW--even if there is an issue, there is no issue because of superior service. -

The patio on Friday evening is verrrry busy. If you can grab a seat outside it will be amazing. The patio alone deserves a 4 star! The food however is a 3 star. They have a lobster special going on right now. So I had a lobster salad. The portion is alright. There were lobster bits but it was too sour.. All I remember is the lime juice flavor. Others had a few cocktails and they said it was good. The service was excellent. They offered a free key lime pie because one of the dish came without the baked potatoes (which eventually came after). That was a nice gesture!

I made it up to the patio for the second time this year (without a minute's wait) and it is fabulous. Both times have been when the weather was threatening to rain but that doesn't damper the mood up there. The booths are super comfortable and there are tons of pillows to lean against. The fireplaces and heat lamps keeps you warm and mimic what it's sure to be like in July. The waitstaff are very attentive and friendly and ours on Friday gave us all of the info behind how they cook their steaks. Bonus points for knowing your facts!
The food is consistently good, with everything from steaks to tuna coming out just as you asked for. I ordered my potato without bacon bits and when it arrived plus-pork, it was quickly whisked off my plate and replaced within minutes.
They don't carry my beloved Tennessee Tea drink anymore but their wine list definitely makes up for it.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I would like to give the Keg more stars than I did but a few things spoilt the evening, a birthday dinner for yours truly yesterday.
First, just like everyone says, the decor is very nice. And the service is up to the Keg's usual standards. It's pretty good.
As another reviewer mentioned, the bar *does* take a long time and that I find strange given that it wasn't that busy last night.
Also, my filet was not particularly tender and the topping they'd put on was only average. But, the main reason why it lost a couple of points was that the plate had sat underneath the lamps for a long time and the potatoes had this glaze on the top, the garnishes were wilted and shriveled, and the plate itself was covered in fingerprints, oil, and whatnot that had been baked on under the heat lamps.
Disconcerting, and I kind of expected a little better due to the location and price.
Still, I'll definitely try them again. The patio's worth the visit alone. -

I've been to many Kegs all around the city and I have to say this is probably my worst experience food wise. The patio however, is fantastic.
I was never offered bread as I usually am at all the other locations. I don't think they would run out of bread and I saw other tables with the basket. It was a beautiful sunny day when I went and they were extremely busy so that might've been why it was forgotten.
We ordered the classic dinners and the salad was brought out 30 seconds before our entrees so pretty much after ordering we were left sitting there for a long time.
I ordered a prime rib and asked for it "as rare as possible" and out came the worst piece of meat I have ever encountered at a Keg. It was more done than medium and oh so very dry. Very disappointing.
Such a shame because the patio is really awesome! Hopefully it was just because they were slammed that night. -

The Keg at Yaletown went out of their way to make my family of 20 feel comfortable and well attended during our New Year's Eve Dinner. After arriving and seeing several parties waiting to be seated I was a bit worried, as my party of 20 trailed behind me, including 5 children. As soon as I mentioned my name and reservations, all 20 of us were escorted down to a private room in the basement level of the restaurant. the set up was very nice, and welcoming. We pretty much had our own private room with adjacent restroom. Their was also a x-mas tree and art that nicely decorated the dining area. We were assigned 2 waiters but others joined them to assist us as well. The waiters (i wish I knew their names) were great. We were able to have separate bills (this is not common in Los Angeles), and the waiters were extremely patient and nice to us. Most of our party ordered from The Keg's New Year's Eve prefix menu, and all of us enjoyed our meal. We were allowed to stay in this room all night, but moved to the roof top patio when we were invited to check out this section of the restaurant at around 11:30pm. We welcomed in 2011 on the rooftop bar which was really cool and surprisingly warm given the 20 degree F weather outside. The manager gave us party favors, the bartenders offered champagne, and soda/water to the kids. They joined us in the countdown and didn't even bother us to leave as they cleaned down the area preparing to close for the night.
Food was good! Service was excellent! This definitely topped our Vancouver vacation experience. I will return when I am conferencing in Vancouver next year! -

This Keg is not your average Keg. In fact it raises the bar on decor and ambiance to levels that other restaurants could only hope to achieve.
We sat on the top level which is an outdoor patio surrounded by fireplaces and intimate sitting areas. The bar is fun and the 'scene' has no lack of excitement for people watching.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that, well, it's a Keg. The architecture and environment is outatanding, but the food is about what you'd expect from the Keg. But get over that and go for drinks and appetizers and enjoy a great setting to watch a sunset or impress your date. -

I've been to this location twice and both times (once on New Year's Eve) were amazing. The waitstaff are friendly and definitely know what they're doing. My steak was perfect both times & I was seduced into eating dessert. I have a weakness for cheesecake. I was also impressed that the waitress went back to the kitchen to find out if they use corn starch to thicken the blueberry sauce (I'm allergic). She offered to decorate my plate with whipped cream instead. How could I say no?!
It looked so good, my friend had to have one too. It's a favourite for the both of us & I can't wait to go back! -

We dined here our first night in Vancouver in October 2010 on the recommendation of one of the guys at the Westin Grand on Robson. The food was excellent, especially the Potato Spring Rolls and the steaks. Can't remember which one my wife had but I had the Prime Rib. A really nice restaurant with very friendly staff.
