I love this place.. especially in the summer. The staff are amazing, food good and they have the best west facing patio in the area. The only downside is on a Friday or Saturday eve the wait is very long. However it is worth the wait.

I went here for a dinner with 5 colleagues after a day of meetings and it was a pretty good place for a leisurely and meaty dinner. A decent chain steakhouse - I'd never seen any locations in the US, but our waiter informed us that The Keg is a Vancouver-based chain with locations all around Canada and also California and Texas.
There are no windows, at least on the side of the restaurant I was on, so it has that darker, pubby steakhouse sort of feel.
Definitely a good group place - we were seated at a nifty round table (the optimal configuration for six people taking, eating, and drinking, I think). Service was friendly if a bit slow - I think it took almost thirty or forty minutes for our steaks to come out, but perhaps they were indulging our leisurely meal.
The food was good - I mean, I love steak, and with simple prep it's hard to blow that. I had a very tasty peppercorn New York strip steak, served with a baked potato loaded up with bacon bits and a a pretty paltry amount of assorted vegetables served on the side. The steak came more on the medium side of the medium rare that I ordered - I'd order rare if I ever go back.
All in all not bad, but I feel like there has to be a better place to drop $25-30 per entree in the area. -

If I've got $50 to throw down on a meal, hands down The Keg is my favorite restaurant. I've always thought of it as fine dining meets restaurant chain. I've had mostly good experiences in several of their Toronto locations, and one exceptional dinner in old Montreal. Tonight was my first visit to the Oshawa location. Although there was no ambience of 17th century Quebec it was comfortable and inviting. Your typical subdued lighting and crouching waiters. All very smart. The service was prompt, my caesar salad arrived shortly after my keg sized merlot. As usual the salad was light and fresh. There was no offer for extra freshly ground pepper though which was a bit disappointing. The arrival of the steak is always greatly anticipated and I was not let down. My lobster encrusted sirloin was more than flavorful even though I asked it to be cooked medium. It was more on the medium rare side. No matter, it was delicious. My dining companions lobster tails and broiled salmon were also well received as was the dessert. I opted for a second merlot and a baileys express coffee which complimented the meal very well. All in all a very nice evening of very good food. I will return.

Although this is a chain,, you would not know it,,, this is a quaint place, with a nice bar/waiting area and intimate seating..The food, from appetizersand drinks to steaks(always cooked right the first time) and sides is always perfect!! And desserts never disappoint!! The only negative is having too many choices on the menu!!
