Yay - I'm a fan (....when I have a gift certificate or someone else is covering the tab....EEEEK).  I enjoy the fact that, although the Keg is famous for it's steak, there is a good selection of alternative options (chicken, seafood, etc).  The food has always been delicious and the service, pretty good.

Maybe this only stands out to me but I have noticed that the servers here seem to be split evenly between male and female.  I don't know what it is but there is something off-putting to me about a restaurant who's front of house is staffed primarily with young women in teeny tiny outfits.  To me that screams "Our food isn't that great but we like tips so check out the view ;)."  Seems the Keg knows to let the food speak for itself - and it does!

Now on to price - it's expensive!  Usually a once a year type event, but it should be noted that when I do come here it is because I want to indulge - and indulge I do!

My tween son picked this for this birthday supper and we were impressed.  It was much better than I was expecting. Everyone shared two starters: calamari and bruschetta. The squid were great and came with a few tempura jalapenos for a little kick.  Brushetta was OK, and the non-seafood fan seemed happier with it than the rest of us.

I had the bone-in rib steak which came with onion strings and mushrooms. It was absolutely amazing and very large.  My son's New York cut disappeared quickly.  The others all were very happy with their steaks.

The service was good, even though we had a trainee waiter.  All in all, about as good a 'meat and potatoes' meal as one can get in town.

Went to the Keg just before christmas and have been there before. I have no complaints althought being able to make a reservation would be a great bonus. The service is always good and the wait staff was very attentive to my needs as a celiac. I always order the steak, and that is the reason why I go to the Keg- for a steak. I had the bacon wrap filet mignon and they gave me a gluten free bernaise sauce with it. Yummy. My steak was cooked to a perfect rare and althought there wasn't much seasoning (because their seasoning disappointingly contains gluten) it was still delicious. The escargots were also really good.
The place is really busy and the prices are moderate- for steak you are looking at around $30+.
I will definetly go back and bring my friends again.

This place was a previous favorite of my wife and I. We used to come in here every time we were craving a good steak and a night out on Whyte Ave. The service has always been not only good, but GREAT. The food equally great.

Our last time there, just a few weeks ago, we had yet another amazing waitress and yet some more amazing food. We stayed and had a few pre-drinks before we planned on meeting friends on Whyte. Everything was going great....and then.....

It all seemed to happen right at the same time a few waitresses got off shift and came into the lounge to drink. Our waitress literally disappeared. The last thing we seen from her was a desert menu which we were interested in trying. Our plan was to have another bottle of wine and some desert before hitting Whyte. It was about 30 minutes before we realized she was sitting at the table with the other off-shift staff. I figured her shift was over as well but the person taking over wasn't told about us. I got up to go grab a wine list myself and just order once we picked one out.

When I got up she came over and asked if we needed anything and we said we wanted to order some desert and some wine once we figured out which wine we wanted. She said she would be right back. 30 minutes later and nothing. Again she was sitting at that table. We finally decided to go to Famoso for desert pizza instead and went over to the table full of staff and asked our waitress for our bill. Sadly she didn't get tipped at all. I really don't think she even realized what she did because when I told her she seemed actually shocked.

Unfortunately right up until those other waitresses shift ended, this girl was probably one of the best waitresses I've seen, but it all came to an abrupt end. I might be back, but it definitely will only be as a last resort.

I have been to this location a few times now- and it never disappoints.
My family and I were there for my birthday on Monday May 9th. We did make a reservation, when we arrived we were seated right away- which was fantastic. We ordered our meals; steak of course. I am a "well done" person and always specifically say no pink which I did, i got my steak and had a couple bites, but when I got to the middle - it was a tad bit pink. I could eat it but the point being...so I did say something to let them know but not wanting anything. She asked if she could bring me another one, i said No because I wouldn't eat it anyway, and I was getting full so I didn't want mine heated up, so that was fine, I had a couple more bites and gave the remaining to my boyfriend, not because of the pink but because I was full. Then the manager (a bigger guy) came to the table wanting to apologize and asked the same questions, another steak, heat this one more, then asked if I wanted dessert, or something done on my bill- which again I refused because that isn't what I wanted. I was satisfied with just letting them know for future. I did get a dessert complimentary because it was my birthday which was nice. But to my surprise when we got the bill he had taken care of my whole meal....Nice, great touch by that manager!!! That made a great time and experience, a fantastic one! I just needed to share this above and beyond customer service experience because it isn't often we get it anymore from anywhere. Koodoo's to this manager!!!!

A nice, reasonably expensive Canadian modern Chic restaurant.  Reminded me of Earl's.  Nice, dark wood old school brick ambiance, random nouns and adjectives.

Get the "baseball" sirloin.  All the steak was good, but this was where it was AT.  Unique flavor and huge variation of done-ness - I mean, it is literally shaped like a baseball.  The whatever encrusted whatever was decent too and the rib steak was a little better than those.

You keep hearing the keg as the place to go for steak...why just cause it says it in the name. Keg is no good. The staff is super phony, maybe it was a bad day for them? but it sure didnt seem like the server wanted to be there. The food selection is the same, I want something different, I like different foods something exotic.  The price was way to high as well fir the quality of food I would expect it to be less. I can even say I just gave away a $100 gift card to someone cause I wont be back. Check out Vons much better.

I have been to keg a few times and I have never been disappointed. The restaurant has a very classy, intimate setting and the service is good.

Last time I went here I ordered the sweet hot calamari to start and the sweet/spicy ginger garlic sauce that comes with it is unreal. They got the calamari just right too, I hate some places that make it to chewy. For the main course I ordered the Creole chicken which is topped with shrimp and scallops and comes with a side of mashed potatoes. The chicken was tender and juicy and the shrimp was perfect. I was impressed again.

The Keg is a bit pricier than normal restaurant's but still it is not bad. The bill for 7 of us came to about $42 each and that was including a bottle of wine as well.

Definitely a good place to go for a nice dinner date.

My mouth water just thinking of The Keg.

I love love love their steaks.  I love steak and The Keg does steak right.  They are great.

I also love their stuffer mushrooms.  You would think that good stuffed mushrooms would be easy to find but you would be wrong.  The Keg has them though.

The staff is always great too.

The atmosphere is nice.  It's upper class without being snobby or pretentious.  You will pay more for meal here but it's worth it.

This place is hopping and a bit loud for someone just wanting a quiet meal.  The waitresses are all very cute and all dressed in black.  The music was very 80s based.

I was in Edmonton and didnt want to leave before trying some Alberta beef.  So I went straight for the sirloin with french fries.

My steak was perfectly cooked, medium rare with a nice crusty outside.  They know their beef at this place.  It was a little chewier than I am used to, almost as if the beasty had been feed grass as opposed to corn.  But it had extra flavor that I really enjoyed (just as if it had been feed on grass).  I had it with a Jackson Triggs Cabernet Sauvignon.  The steak was much better than the Canadian wine.

This is my favourite Keg of all time. I have gone to the one in the west end as well as the one is south Edmonton common, but this one has always exceeded my expectations.

My boyfriend and I went here on Christmas Eve of all nights, and of course, no reservation. We didn't wait long, and the hostess told us we could sit in the bar. At first we were a little disappointed because we wanted to have a nice evening out, but the bar was not overcrowded or too loud. It was pretty subdued and we were happy about that.

The food they served that evening was wonderful! It was fresh and hot and everything was flavourful.

The only thing I don't like about the Keg is that they took away my favourite dish!! I loved the chipotle onion sirloin and it has since disappeared off the menu. Now I get he regular sirloin and dream about the chipotle onion flavour! Yum Yum.

I will go back to this Keg, and even though it is way out of my way, I will make the trek here to receive great service and great food.

If you love steak, then the Keg will do it for you. I've never really been a steak girl, and only occasionally enjoy it once in awhile if cooked right, so this isn't really my hang-out. But they do steaks quite well -- I just think it's overpriced. This location always seems to be bustling. I pass by during their dinner hours on my way home, and there's always men smoking outside the doors, checking out the dressed up girls going in. Their bar is located on the main floor, and they have a small loft upstairs for a more intimate setting. It's a good place for dates (if you're date isn't a vegetarian) or group outings. Loud with a sports-bar atmosphere, and high-end with the prices and fancy interior.
