As a huge Go-Kart enthusiast, I was really excited to go see what Kartbahn Racing had to offer. I wasn't overwhelmed by their track, because it is indoor there is limited room and he track wasn't as big as some outdoor ones that I've driven.

The equipment and facility are well kept and clean (which is a major perk), and the staff are friendly, but one of the major problem is the price. It can get pretty expensive if you are planning on riding for awhile. Prices are set for blocks of laps and blocks of 5 laps only last about 10 minutes, which left me disappointed after my turn was up.

Hot Hint: There are opportunities for group and party rates, just call ahead to reserve a time.

I went to Kartbahn to celebrate my Brother's birthday and initially was excited about the experience. Once we got on the track, my excitement was short lived.  My go-kart was hard to turn and the brakes were not fully functional causing my go-kart to crash into one of their cement pillars (which had hardly any cushioning surrounding it).  After several visits to a physiotherapist, the experience was definitely not worth the physical cost of admission.

I have been to Kartbahn Racing 2 time, each time with a group of approximately 10 people. I was completely unimpressed with this business for the following reasons.

    a) it is extreamly expensive. $40 for approximately 24 minutes of cart driving is obsurd. Additionally, given they are charging so much you would think they could turn the heat on. It was like an icebox on the track. My fingers nearly froze.
    b) the manager/supervisor who was on duty during our second vist was rude/condesending. Granted I was not in the best mood that night I believe it was unessesary for him to stand on the track while we were driving ("for safety reasons") and that it somehow offended the manager/workers if one of us crashed. I understand they are go-karts, not bumper cars, but by running a racing track you would think they would realize that crashes are going to happen.
    c) go-karts are poorly maintained. The side panel fell off one of the cars in our group and my cart was very difficult to steer. If you ask for a new car, they won't give one to you unless your old car is completely dead.

I do not plan on spending my time/money here again.

Okay, I'll admit it: I was dying to try the go-karts at Kartbahn ...for my birthday. And let's just say I'm not a kid anymore, and who says kids should get to have all the fun, anyway? I like speed, I like driving, and I wanted to have a crack at it. So I did.

And it WAS fun. Really fun. The young guys who run the place are really good at explaining all the rules, and they emphasize safety and sporting behaviour (no crashing or bumping, OK?) without taking the fun out of it.

The course is tight and curvy because it's rather crammed into a warehouse...and herein lay my problem. You go for 8 minutes, they time each lap, and you essentially are racing to make your own best time on each lap, and to, theoretically, set the course record for the day.

And I tried, I really did. Until about the umpteenth 180-degree turn where the back end spins out a little and you slide through the centrifugal force that's pulling you in the opposite direction.... and my stomach just said, "Uh-uh, no more of this."

That's right, I got carsick on the go-kart track. Well, not ON the track. Not actually sick at all, but nauseous enough that I had to quit before my 8 minutes were up.

A little embarrassing, but the boys were nice about it. And my times weren't too bad. At least up until that final lap.
