Karibu is an East African & Indian TAKE-OUT Restaurant in Richmond Hill. In search for this African Grilled Chicken that has distinctive spiciness above and beyond Portuguese Piri Piri, I found myself here.
I walked in and saw NOBODY manning this take-out place but a couple gentlemen of Indian origins walked in behind me as we waited 2 minutes. An older staff came out with 2 take-out containers and bagged it for those 2 gentlemen as they paid while he asked what I was looking for.
How SPICY is the East African Grilled Chicken?
He responded not that spicy.
Is it grilled on a BBQ grill?
It is in a Tandoor.
Let me try this Grilled Chicken with Fries & Salad($7.99) as I asked for the LEG meat. The friendly men told me it will be 15 minutes but there's nothing in this place to seat or rest on. Not much Indian/African within walking distance of this area, so it's a monopoly of sorts. 2.5 *Stars*
YUP, it was a Tandoori Chicken Leg alright with pretty Crispy Fries and a spoonful of Cucumber/Lettuce Salad. There was 2 sauces in the containers, one was the Salad Dressing while the other was the somewhat spicy Piri-Piri Sauce.
Chicken was standard to so-so and the Piri-Piri was not spicy as the man said previously. If it was spicy, I would need an ambulance because I am not into spice at all. I'm a BANANA, yellow outside and white level spiciness inside. BTW, I learn white level from a Korean Restaurant.
