Hidden within a small strip mall on Alexandra Road, this place has suprisingly good Taiwanese food. Operated by a family-the mom and dad making the food, and sometimes the young daughter is there as well, drawing pictures, or reading books.

There's only about 5 tables here. We come here for lunches, and it's always quick and efficient service. There's the basics deep fried pork chop, deep fried chicken, and the Taiwanese chicken nuggets, all with either rice or noodles.

Also have Taiwanese appies-their oyster pancake is just like the ones I used to have in Taiwan. I usually get the deep fried chicken with noodles. A large bowl of noodles, with chicken! This is good, the chicken is lightly deep fried, not overly soaked in oil, and the soup in the noodles is not too salty. This also comes with a iced green tea, or a red tea.

All this under $10, this is a great choice when I have the craving for some Taiwanese chicken nuggets!

this place is due up for a renewed review.
stepping into a taiwanese restaurant, you always gotta get a beef noodle as the litmus test.

we wanted to snack on some tian-bu-la, the chinese version of fish sticks, which are fried fish paste / patties.  this tastes pretty good when served with sweet chili sauce but alas, they left their homemade tian-bu-la at home (sold out).

the $7 beef noodle had nice chewy thick noodle and very tender beef.  you can skip the soup as it gave me an msg attack after.  i also left still hungry *sad face

i got the meat sauce on rice + stewed egg for lunch the next day and must say, this place fell under par in terms of meat sauce on rice.  how can you be taiwanese and fail meat sauce on rice??  lol the stewed egg was on the money though so i forgive you this time.

next time... well there is no next time.
the last laugh is mine... along with the multitude of new restaurants popping up beside you.

    * A wonderful little gem in a back corner of a strip mall *

Stumbled onto this small unassuming hole-in-the-wall Taiwanese spot.

It really has the feel of a family run restaurant with the father taking orders, the mother cooking in the back with the older son, and the young daughter sitting and reading comic books at a table out front occasionally getting up and helping out too.  Seems like a really nice family - very friendly.

Started off with the wonton in chili sauce.  The wontons had a nice thin wrapper and the sauce had just the right combination of hot and sweet.  Nice start!

I had the beef tendon noodle soup.  The noodles were fresh and cooked to the PERFECT consistency.  The tendons were nice big chunks which were nicely seasoned.  The broth was clean and smooth with a nice garlic overtone.  Some green veggies were perfectly cooked as well.  It came with a small side of Chinese pickles to add to taste which had a very nice crunch and flavour.  Great dish!

I also got to taste a little bit of the deep fried chicken noodle soup.  The broth was a different broth (chicken based instead of beef) and was really pleasant.  It had the same perfect noodles.  The chicken cutlet came on the side and had a nice typically Taiwanese batter (is that sweet potato starch mixed with corn starch?) and was very well marinated.  It wasn't the slightest bit greasy at all.

Both soups came with a choice of complimentary drink.  I had the iced green tea which wasn't overly sweet and had a nice jasmine flavour to it.

Overall a really pleasant meal in this tucked away little gem!

small cozy Taiwanese. I've been here a few times and it wasn't until Vincci's reviews that I was able to find this place on Yelp.  You see, I never knew the name. I just knew it as so and so's uncles place.

It is good.  Food is tasty and for a small place they serve quite alot of variety.

I figure I must've been here a couple of dozen times over the years at least.
