You might think this is one of those hippy-incense-granola types of places, full of textiles, woven baskets and candles, but if you look past all that you'll discover two key areas: Hats and jewelry.
Well, at least that's what I found. The wide array of hats... in different shapes and colours than I've seen elsewhere with many from Delux who keeps their stock rotating reasonable priced. And fun, funky jewelry at, you guessed it, reasonable prices.
I've been sporting a big leather rose ring and while it can't get wet and I bonk it into everything, I've received more compliments on it than some of the more expensive pieces I own ($10 thank you very much). Ah, the things we do for fashion! -

I like that their clothes are ethically and locally made. They're just not really my style. My girlfriend tried on a couple of cute dresses but the cuts weren't great. Their fabrics are very colourful and it could just be that I haven't found quite the right item for me.

Asian inspired fabrics, candleholders, hippie-esque clothing, incense, personal care products, jewellery.... the list of girlie indulgences available at Kali is endless. They also stock some unique items such as finger puppets and eclectic home ware.
Goods come from Canada as well as abroad arriving from the shores of Southeast Asia, Africa, and Indonesia and the prices are pretty good. I picked up some delicious smelling incense for only $4.
I didn't like this store as much as, say, Ten Thousand Villages but there were certainly some special finds in here - you just have to dig a little deeper. -

I skipped right past the Asian textiles and floor pillows in favour of the adorable accessories. Kali has a nice selection of stylish hats and bags. They also have some fun mittens like pairs of lobsters and three eyed monsters.

From the outside it looks like an import store so I was surprised, when I finally went in there, to find that they carry locally made fashion. Now I frequently pop in for a browse. Great stuff!

Kali sells textiles, home decor items and jewelry all with an Asian flavour. It's not your typical patchouli smelling leftover hippie joint, though. Everything in this store is tastefully chosen and nicely displayed, and there are lots of unique items like pillow covers, and clothes that are well priced and would make a nice addition to the home or wardrobe of anyone with a flair for the original.
