*Three and a Half Stars*
I want to again quote Edina from AbFab:
"I DON"T WANT MORE CHOICES!!!! I JUST WANT BETTER THINGS!!!!!!!"
I don't think she would have been satisfied with better things AND lots of choices, but such is the case here. At a deli. I"m drooling now just thinking about all the yummy choices.....
Sandwiches and weiners/smokies/sausages. Have I mentioned there are many delicious options? Have I mentioned that I repeat myself?
Imagine a dream where you find a genie in a bottle who can grant you any sandWISH you want.... name your bread/bun, name your fillings and condiments. Name IT!!!!

* Quick Schnitzel *
It has been a long time since I've grabbed a bite to eat in the Granville Market foodcourt. I was craving schnitzel and remembered that Kaisereck sometimes does it well.
I took the default options - sauerkraut, pickle, and German mustard on a Kaiser roll. They reheated the schnitzel on a grill to warm it up. It was not particularly crispy, but didn't suck at least. :) Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
It did its duty for a quick lunch at least!Listed in: Which wich is which?, Vancouver European Food, Granville Island

Stopped here for a quick bite before exploring the rest of the market. Owner is very attentive and nice. There is an extensive menu and if you can't find anything you like, well...you can just build your own sandwich instead. I think it's a great place to stop by and pick up some picnic staples.
My husband ordered the Spicy Bratwurst w/ grilled onions. He highly recommends the grilled onions as they were sweet. Lots of condiments you can add and are located to the side of the stand. I had the Smoked Salmon (Lox & Cream Cheese) on an Onion Bagel. Very good service and good food. Price was not bad compared to a lot of the other establishments near by.
Check out my pics.

For the $6.95 special (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato) I expect a little more than a sandwich that I can hold and eat with one hand. With all of the fixings laid out in front of me...I thought they'd at least garnish with a yummy looking pickle that was taunting me. Or maybe a slice of cheese? But nothing. It tasted good, but I felt a lot ripped off!
Next time I'll be on top of bratwurst - they looked good - although I was a little worried when I saw that all of the condiments were around the side next to one of the entrances to the market. Not a big deal, except for the lower level of condiments (yes there were two levels) were all exposed with no sneeze guard in sight. -

If you like meat, buns, sausages, and paninis, this is your place in the Granville Island Market's food fair. They'll make you a sandwich to order, but if that's too complicated, they also have bratwursts and schnitzels, ready to go. These ladies are quick on the lunch rush, so the line moved fast.
I tried the bratwurst on a bun, topped with a generous heap of sauerkraut (fried onions are another option), and then got to fix it up at the fixins' bar to the side, where relish, various mustards, peppers, and ketchup are all at your disposal. I don't know if it was the absolute best hot dog I'd ever eaten, but it was deelish. -

Decent place to stop for lunch when you need a break from perusing the foods and wares of the market.
I can vouch for both the hot pastrami on rye and all-beef hot dog - both are excellent. I've seen other places in the market charge upwards of $7.50 for a grilled cheese, so being able to get lunch for two (drink included) for less than $13 isn't all that bad. -

Bratwurst sausage on a bun is the one thing that brings me here when I pop down to Granville Island for a fast lunch. Make sure you get the sauerkraut and onions (fried even better). It'll set you back around $8.00 for this bomb and a pop - but its worth every penny. Top it off with a little Dijon or Frenches' mustard - best darn German hot dog in Vancouver - real nice! Better than Jappa Dog for this feast for me - try it and you will see! Kosher Bratwurst Sausage?? Is it possible to exists? BTW - I have all ways wanted to try the cutlets, but I'm sold on the Bratwurst!
