    Updated - 4/2/2012 4 Check-ins Here

K, I have never wrote two reviews for a place, but here we go:
I consider myself a sushi snob. I don't mind paying 300 plus for a good omakase and as a matter of fact, have tried the best that NYC has to offer when it comes to that. Having said that, kaide is without a doubt, THE best place for sushi.
I went there two days in a row, one got lunch and another for dinner. The chef had uni the first day but not the next, why? Cause he gives u the freshest that u can get anywhere. However he replaced it with amber jack and Japanese snapper the next day, and honestly they were the best I've ever had. I can honestly say, that if you're looking for good sushi for an unbeatable price, this is the place to go. No fancy special maki here, just a couple if rolls and then it's all about sashimi and nigri.
I have to say that they offer the option of brown rice which is also another plus. If you are crazy about sushi, you'd know that rice is just as important as the fish. Though I think kaide can work a bit on its rice, I must also add that the ratio of fish to rice on all nigris and rolls are very good.
Last thing: the chef himself is very polite and very helpful. If he notices that you need something he ll come to u himself and ask you what u need. Other than that, the service is the only bad part at this place. One girl running the show makes things slow, however if it means that I get amazing sushi for an unbeatable price, then I m totally fine with sitting there and waiting for her to serve me. Heck it might even mean that I can stuff one more roll down.

Omgeezy. I'm sosososo happy this place is walking distance from my hotel. In the future when I visit Vancouver Kaide Sushi is a must go due to the amazing food, service, atmosphere, and price.

My family ordered 2 different combo rolls and 5 sashimi plates for only 116. It filled us up to the max and we were all super satisfied. The interesting thing about Kaide is that they only serve raw fish (aka sashimi, nigiri...if you like fried/grilled rolls you won't find them here). To be honest, with the quality of fish they serve, raw fish is truly the best way to enjoy their food.

Every type of fish and seafood we ordered was delicious. They have a special type of salmon called smoke-eye salmon that you once you see how red and fresh it is, you can't wait to dig in.

Our waitress spent time to identify each of the types of seafood on our combo sashimi plates and she was super attentive and was constantly filling our teas.

I haven't been to a place that has left me feeling high off of the greatness of good food in awhile but Kaide Sushi definitely soothed my mind and soul.

    SO GOOD.

Excellent quality, right near the sea wall, and they have brown rice for no extra charge. If you are looking for high end sushi at a reasonable price this is your place!

They don't do anything deep fried so when you get a dynamite roll it is done 'Kaide style' with a fresh prawn and some cornflakes for a crunch- don't knock it until you try it because it is REALLY good!

I like to bike the seawall to get there (It is right near the corner of Richards and Pacific. I have been a customer for about 8 years and have NEVER been disappointed. The owner is always there and he ensures top quality.

This is a terrific restaurant. We were in Vancouver last week and a friend who lives in town suggested that we try this place for great sushi--and what a treat it was!  I am no sushi expert, but we ordered a wide range of sushi, sashimi, and rolls, and I appreciated the quality of the food and the care with which it was served.  I can particularly recommend one of the house specials: a bowl of tuna shashimi, marinated in a soy-based sauce.  Sounds simple, right? It is simple--simply delicious!

The room is kind of small and nothing fancy, but since this restaurant is apparently a family run operation, that is a good thing. Service is great, from the owner and sushi chef, to the friendly and efficient waitresses.

Here's the icing on this sushi cake: the prices. We ordered up a storm and ate like kings, and when we got the bill I was amazed at how low it was.

Give this a price if you are in the neighborhood.  Actually, give this place a try if you have to travel hundreds of miles to get here!

    * There is a reason for long lines most of the time. *

Was looking for a quick lunch at the usually reliable Ki-Isu:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz... but arrived and was disappointed to find a huge crowd making it a non-practical option for today sadly.  So moved around the corner to Kaide and got in without any wait.

While Kaide is decent, I have to say I still prefer Ki-Isu.  Kaide raised its prices since I had last visited (which was perhaps 2 years ago), and have a bit of a nickle and diming policy in their pricing.

The fish was pretty fresh, with the only questionable piece being a salmon nigiri that was still ok, but could have been fresher, as perhaps it had been defrosted for a bit too long.  The tuna nigiri was still a bit too cold from the freezer.  Seems like they could manage the defrosting a bit better on the fish honestly.

Got some rolls as well.  The negitoro used whole pieces of bincho (don't think it was actually toro) and negi.  I actually kind of like when the scrapings from the toro are chopped up with the negi for the negitoro roll.  Something about the consistency I suppose.  But the bincho was fresh at least.  The other rolls were all decent and as expected.

Also had some gomae.  The sauce had the typical nice sesame flavour, but it was missing a little something.  I'm not sure what.  Perhaps it was a bit too dry?  Just not sure.

Service was friendly - but VERY slow as well.  It took about 20 minutes to get the food, which was a bit surprising since it was not crowded really.

Oh, and they kind of nickle and dime you for everything that most mid-range sushi places in this price range normally give as service:

    - Tea - 50 cents
    - Miso soup - $1.50

Come on, either charge more and provide some really good tea, or don't charge.  50 cents?  Puh-leeze!

Overall it was a decent lunch minus the drawbacks.

But given a choice I would stick with Ki-Isu around the corner - there is a reason for the line!

I have been there several time and I have always been very satisfied with the quality of the service, the friendliness of the staff and the food.

Truth be told I was not into sushi before, but this place made start liking them with their Tuna & Salmon combo (I went there with co-workers).

They have both a dining room and a sushi bar.

I highly recommend if you are in Yaletown.

A very solid, authentic, and delicious sushi experience. I have been a big fan of Honjin at the Yaletown Roundhouse, but this unpretentious sushi bar has won my heart. The place is usually packed and busy, which is a good sign. Their fish was extremely fresh.

I visited with my girlfriend, and we had a selection of rolls and salmon sashimi. The salmon was tender, and steak-like, not the best in town, but still a solid 7/10. The Big Bang rolls had a great hint of citrus, and are a cheaper version of Honjin's Roundhouse roll (possibly even better!). Their other roll selections are all variations on the themes of creamy, crunchy, and meaty ingredients. Not very exciting in terms of presentation, but very good-tasting.

The brown rice option has become sort of a standard in Vancouver sushi joints, primarily for it's attributed health benefits. We tried it on one of the rolls we had, but couldn't taste any difference as I think the rice was slightly overcooked.

I do recommend their sunomono salad, and I always order a larger size with just the vegetables. It's a great "opening act".

Overall, the service was excellent, and the food was great. Slightly delayed requests were due to the business volume, but more than acceptable for the price. They are quite reasonably priced, but as Marc D. mentions they do nickle and dime ($0.50 for tea! Come on guys!) but Kaide is a great spot to make your "regular" sushi hangout, a business luncheon, or dinner with friends.

This little sushi place is located 3 minutes away from where I live and has saved my hungry stomach MANY times. Always fresh and tasty sushi bar, good service and home-like atmosphere that I personally like. They don't have fried stuff, but with the variety of sushi, sashimi, and different roles they offer (with your choice of white or brown rice ) - you won't really need it. My favorites are: marinated tuna sashimi, miso soup (the best in town!), gomae salad. But really, whatever you order will be fresh and well put together. Enjoy!

It seems sushi restaurants downtown are a dime a dozen, but good quality ones are hard to come by. Kaide Sushi is a hidden gem here in Yaletown.

Although I must say I'm not a huge fan of the decor/ambiance, Kaide won me over with their high quality, fresh seafood. They do things a little differently here, putting their own spin on the dynamite roll, and offering rolls like Rising Sun (soy bean wrap with sockeye, real crab, scallops, ebi, avacado, asparagus & tobiko), and the Big Bang (tuna, sliced lemon, avacado and crunch)

My personal favourites are their Kaide Roll ( ebi, cream cheese, avacado, cucumber, tobiko, smoked salmon) and their spicy tuna sashimi (served with avocada and their 5 spice sauce). Sssooo good!!

This is a great place if you want quality sushi in a casual/modest setting.

kaide roll (ebi, cream cheese, avocado, cucmber, tobiko, smoked salmon)...west coast roll (salmon, avocado, cucumber, tobiko), special chop roll (velvet scallops with mayo & tobiko)...and the asparagus duet (asparagus, cooked prawns & japanese hollandaise) - these are my favorites....

if you aren't salivating from just reading my order from the top...go ahead and read it again, but slower this time.

    hungry yet?
this place is extremely high in quality, great authentic japanese dishes.  family owned..small, pleasant...the owner (husband) is chatty and hilarious....the wife, sweet and almost as chatty if you are able to catch her.

i love their simple, all-about-the-raw-sushi menu.  perfect for the die-hard sushi Connoisseurs.

My friends from Japan love the authentic sushi they serve there! It's a great location where our friends live near Richards and Pacific.  There are no decent sushi bars except Kaide. The fish are alway fresh and the sushi rice are just like the ones I had when I visited Japan, perfectly flavoured.  After a nice sushi dinner at Kaide and a walk at False Creek with our dogs, it really makes an enjoyable evening for us.
