I must say after moving to North Bay from Halifax that I was certain there would be no sushi places worth a visit. I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised.
The atmosphere is cozy. Reservations are a must (altho on my first visit they did manage to sneak my group a table).
The food is presented beautifully, the staff is always friendly and I always leave satisified.
On average for the two of us the bill is around 75$. This place is a treat, we indulge in overpriced beer ( I believe the Sapporo is almost 9$) my only issue besides the beer price is how darn cold it gets in the front room in the winter time. Le brrrrr. -

Sadly this is as good as the Japanese food gets in North Bay. After moving to Toronto and being introduced to Japanese food there, coming home to North Bay to try the locally available Japanese food was beyond disappointing.
When we first tried to go to this place, we showed up mid-morning around 1100. We showed up at the door and waited to be seated. Apparently you can't even go to this restaurant without a reservation so don't waste your time expecting to walk in. The most frustrating part about this was that there was nobody there and there certainly wasn't going to be for the next hour while we ate. So we turned around and left to go into an even more disappointing restaurant (Valenti's - find my review here: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...).
When I did finally make a reservation to go to this place we found the food and service was terrible. The location was clean and well kept but it didn't make up for the terrible experience we endured while there. Also, the cost of the food was criminal. We racked up a $70 bill between two people! (in less than an hour!)
I'd much rather eat the Sushi buffet available at Oishi Sushi in Toronto than ever return to this place.

This place was a complete surprise.
We walked in the door and got seated right up front where the main action happens. One teppan grill and a Japanese chef with a bit of character.
Might not know as many tricks as some I have seen. We are talking North Bay here! -

I disagree with the other review. The Kabuki House is wonderful. Albeit it is rather expensive.
