Karaoke joint without a booze license? Bubble tea doesn't count, unless those pearl balls are injected with ample doses of alcohol (still waiting on that concept to arise).

I'm half-Filipino. Karaoke is bred into the blood of the nation. But my blood is Karaoke-free. However if you pester me enough I will sing, or in this case to make the gf laugh.

Walking into the room I was pleased to see a touch screen control. But when I saw the stack of song binders, I was displeased. Looking through a Chinese menu with 200 items on it is bad enough..

Alas I sang a few songs. (badly)

Now for the exit. Damn guys ripped us off. Price list says $18pp/hr for AYCS (all your can sing). No where did it say minimum 3 person charge yet they said it was a policy. After a polite FU, was able to get the bill down. And of course it was CASH-only (not even a receipt). Money cough laundering.

I'll stick to not singing. Anywhere.

Ooops! For those who saw my review of "meh" it was a temporary statement and a placeholder. so I guess I will finish my review now.

But really - it was MEH.

I am not much of a karoker. I did it about 10 years ago alot and try to move forward haha... but everyone wanted to do it so it was kind of like a childhood memory. Some friends this was better than Galchae, which I had read on yelp it is actually pretty good. But my friend was organizing so they went with this place instead, based on someone else's recommendation.... through the grapevine, I found out there would be no alcohol served at this place and without the fluids, it's hard to loosen up.

When we walked in through the front door, it was SUPER bright, and I was mistakenly thought that I had walked into an A&W as there was a large counter to the side and everyone was wearing bright orange t-shirts as uniforms. Leading us through a hallway that was super bright like a cheesy music video, we entered a large dark room with comfy couches and a large TV and two mikes.

You can find your songs either on the TV screens or through the numerous binders which I can't say was completely organized. Entering songs was pretty efficient and easy and I think that between the 10 of us, we made the most out of the situation.. including drinking some juice in the parking lot *hint hint, knudge knudge* The place serves snacks, pop and bubble tea, although the jelly I wanted had been sold out.

What was incredibly disappointing, aside from no alcohol, was the fact that the place was incredibly hot and stuffy. No air circulation whatsoever that we had to leave the door opened. When we had asked for water, the workers told us that it would be a $2.50 charge. Is that illegal? charging for tap water? What a rip off..... I think someone should have fainted and made them responsible for it. Overall they were not very helpful at all.

We ended up singing from 11 - 3am in the morning and with drinks came to $25 / person.. 4+ hours with drinks - I think that is a pretty reasonable deal... but I would not go back any time soon.

Oh.. and although bf has an account now, I somehow managed to get him to put his two cents on this place:
"cool facility - very modern and cool looking, decent selection of songs - lots of new song.. but crappy service and no alcohol... not sure if it was a good value."
