Great vibe. But experiences here are inconsistent. Sometimes the size of the cake slices are large and sometimes ridiculously small.  Great for group gatherings or for general catch up.

Went here for desserts after seeing a show at the Panasonic Theatre. I was impressed by the large selection of desserts. However the quality of the food and the service were horrible.

Our order took a while to arrive, and the waiter had really disgusting body odour.
I ordered a White Chocolate Brownie Cake, my boyfriend got the Strawberry Cheesecake, and we both got beers to accompany it. Both desserts were sub-par. Although not disgusting, they were definitely not something you would expect from a place that supposedly specializes in desserts. Neither were high-class desserts. They tasted like they've been sitting around for a few days, and the flavours weren't all that rich.

We should have just gone across the street to the McDonald's and bought an apple pie. would have been a fraction of the cost and would have tasted better.

    Will definitely not be returning.

Disgusting is the only word that comes to mind here but I suppose that is also partly my fault. You see late night snacks in the gaybourhood with my four diabetes bound friends led me to Just Desserts.

I myself was not in the mood for sweets and (stupidly) decided to give their food menu a go. My chicken burger was freeze dried! You know when you overcook pizza in the microwave and the crust begins to turn in the consistency of wood? That was my burger! I returned it which is a first for me... it was literally not edible! When my second burger arrived it was no better, promoting me to think these guys simply zap the burgers on hi in the microwave from frozen and hope the junk food coma they will embarking on for desert will smooth things over.

All in all I learned a valuable lesson... if the place is called just desserts... perhaps it's best to stick to just the desserts!

Don't be fooled by the name. They do a lot more than just desserts. The problem is they don't do anything particularly well. In fact, just about everything here during my last experience was sub par. The waffles were cold and soggy, they messed up one of my friend's orders, the food didn't all come even remotely within the same time range, and the service was slow. My friends were also very unhappy with the taste of their sweets, citing diabetic shock as a possible outcome of finishing their plates.

The lighting was so dark inside that I couldn't even read the menu without using my phone to light up the text or squint and bring the menu within half an inch of my face like an old, blind person.

I don't know what to make of this place. They even have a pool table in the back. It is very confusing, but not in a cool, magical, never ending story kind of way. If you can avoid this place, I would recommend that you do so.

We came during the summer.  Several tables had 20 year olds drinking beer.  That should have been the hint that just desserts is about their liquor license and NOT the desserts!!

We came for dessert one night around 8pm.   My sister had the apple pie and I had the carrot cake.  There was green fuzzy mould nestled nicely on the apple pie.  Do you know how long it takes to grow mould on pie??!?!!  They took it away but did NOT remove the remainder of the pie from the display case!!!

Carrot Cake was okay.  Service was okay,  Won't be back..

Pool hall? Dessert Place? Dracula's Den? Dark, mish mash of decor.. desperately in need of a reno!

As it is a"Dessert" place, i expect the desserts to be kick-ass. I ordered apple pie a la mode, and my friend ordered the carrot cake. The carrot cake tasted a bit old - not fresh. My apple pie... looked great, until i fluffed the pastry - BLUE FUZZY MOLD! Seriously??? How old does a pie get before mold starts to grow in it.. 2.. 3 weeks in the fridge?

The waiter was very defensive. Didn't believe mold was there until i pointed it out. He didn't apologize, nor did he offer anything in it's place.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE... unless you are looking for variations of penicillin.

Just Desserts is a dark and cozy spot....perfect for a date. Or if you're tagging along as the third wheel because you have a completely uncontrollable craving for dessert - which is what happened to me.

Service was a little slow.. but our server was quite new and it was a Friday night so it was understandable.

I started with one of their specialty coffees (with booze in it) which was good, minus the maraschino cherry in it (ew). After what literally felt like the hardest decision making process I've ever had to go through in my life (there's just SO MUCH CAKE!!), I finally  ordered a banana split with an embarrassing amount of toppings. The whole thing was exactly what I needed it to be: huge and unabashedly sweet.

The menu is huge, the desserts are sweet. That's really what it boils down to. It's dark, as a few people have mentioned, but it makes things kinda sexy and doesn't make the sauce all over your face as obvious. BONUS.

The highlight for me - REAL strawberry ice cream. Not ice cream with gross fake strawberry flavouring.  In fact, next time I visit I'll probably end up ordering a huge bowl of just the strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce.

    And a banana split.

    AND WAFFLES.

If you're a fan of cake then you'll fo' sure be a fan of Just Desserts.

Picture every kind of cake your mind can muster up (cheesecakes included). Now picture walking into Just Desserts and seeing them ALL in the glass display case.

Just Desserts has got just that: just desserts. You can order one, or a multitude, of their slices of cake and wash it down with any one of their speciality beverages.

My only beef with Just Desserts is the ambiance and the environment of it. The inside is a little too dark and dingy for my liking. They've got the delicious goods, now they just need the equally appeasing environment.

Just Deserts - Yonge Street, Toronto - 3/16/10.

Walking up and down Yonge Street in Toronto, you see a lot of sites. One that Belly Family took notice of, primarily because it was all over Toronto in general, was shawarma. Bellyman won't describe, you have Wikipedia. Belly Family didn't try shawarma, but have decided they WILL on their next trip in May.

But, as usual, Bellyman digresses...the other that you see a lot of are waffle places. Well, not so much see as smell because they all cook their waffles in a window that opens onto the street to make sure you're lured in. One such place, with multiple locations on Yonge is Wanda's. Belly Parents had been craving those waffles since the first time Mrs. Bellyman smelt them*, and so Bellly Family set off on a quest to find them.

Since Belly Family couldn't remember exactly where they had last seen them, Belly Family searched and found a Wanda's a few blocks South of their hotel. If you have read Bellyman's review of Danforth Pizza, you know that Belly Family had already had a long day, and so trekking a few blocks was a major effort. When Belly Family arrived to find that Wanda's wasn't open yet (as in, they're in there right now painting the walls not open yet), Belly Family was crushed. Searching did not turn up another Wanda's for some reason...Belly Family sad.

So, Belly Family decided to head North again to Just Deserts, a place that did turn up in search and supposedly had waffles. Mrs. Bellyman had said she'd wanted to try it anyway, so we gave it a shot. Exhausted and disappointed, we clambered in.

Up until this point, Bellyman has spent a lot of time talking about things that aren't Just Deserts. This because Just Deserts isn't worth going into any detail about. It's an interesting place, but it's overpriced, service is very slow and the fare Belly Family had was...in all honesty...stale. Even Little Belly didn't finish her strawberry ice cream, and Little Belly LOVES strawberry ice cream.

Yes, that's it. That's all the time Bellyman is going to devote to Just Deserts.

Verdict: Just Don't waste your time (see what Bellyman did there?)

Oh, and, no Belly Family never did get to try Wanda's chocolate-dipped waffles (Right? Bellyman is drooling, too!) Worst part: Belly Family left Toronto the next day. On the way, Belly Family found that had they walked just one more block North.......See you in May, Wanda!

    * Let Bellyman clarify: first, Bellyman is anosmic. This means Bellyman has no sense of smell. It's weird, Bellyman knows, but Bellyman is used to it. And, no, not being able to smell doesn't mean Bellyman can't taste. They are linked, but still independent. So, having said that, Bellyman needed to make clear to those who know Bellyman that Bellyman did not, in fact, smelt the waffles.

    caramel brownie cake!!!
if u like caramel and chocolate, u will love this cake!
my sis introduced me to this cake almost ten years ago and i still haven't found any caramel brownie cake better than this one!
if u r eating there, then ask them to warm it up for you in the microwave (they'll know what you are talking about), so the caramel melts, and the chocolate cakes warm, its heavenly!!
u can also order their cakes, just call 1-2 days in advance on a weekday.. if u get their voicemail, just leave a msg, they always get back to u..
anyways, ive tried some of their other cakes, most are good, but I find that nothing compares to their caramel brownie cake!!

There used to be a time when Just Desserts was just the place to get your cake on. It was basically a nicer Futures minus the line ups and back packs but with table service and a more mature clientele. On my most recent visit however, I found that despite there still being the same big selection of tooth rottingly sweet cake there, that it just isn't the same anymore.

First of all, the completely darkened room was a little too dark for us. Other than from the candles (which were lit as each table was sat) and the gigantic neon sign on the wall, there were few other sources of light. Perhaps this is meant to be romantic, but isn't that what the chocolate's for?

The three cuddling couples scattered around us actually seemed to enjoy the mood lighting quite a bit - that, or they had all fallen asleep. I couldn't tell. Surely, we were not the only ones who found the outbursts of the pool players on the little elevated lounge more than a little bit distracting?

I have never found the service at Just Desserts very impressive, but I have also never had any complaints. On this night though, it was the poor server's very first shift. He was visibly shaking as he struggled to take our orders and then had to ask what they were again while I was en route to the bathroom and then still managed to forget to bring part of it. Although we didn't think it was a big deal, the manager was really sweet and came by time and again to ensure that the rest of our stay was okay.

As per usual though, the cake slices were larger than life and the plates were thoughtfully decorated with chocolate and strawberry syrups. No complaints there!

This place makes me so angry. It has such potential -- a good location, huge space, a small patio and a POOL TABLE. A POOL TABLE, people!

These are the makings of a date/show-you-how-to-play-pool-by-holding-you-move /first kiss!

I used to visit all the time with my ex in 2006, mostly 'cause we just wanted somewhere dark to cuddle and eat waffles. That, you can do here. And the quality was a step or two up at the time. We liked the waffles and sometimes the cakes are good, very hit and miss depending on freshness and availability. Some of those cakes look like they've been around awhiiiile.

My major qualm with this place is with the manager. Since I first visited in 2006, he's had a chip on his shoulder. It's apparently not healed. I am pretty sure he's rude to his employees and it shows in the way they act around him, nervous, scattered, etc. We made an order this past weekend and my bf noticed he wasn't listening when taking it. When they served us the wrong thing, he turned to his employees and said, "you didn't give them the right thing, I told you to give them something else"...really, we're pretty certain he himself didn't take the order correctly.

He's the reason i stopped visiting back in 2006. won't be going back anytime soon. and yea it's dark but it's not that bad. this place needs a revamp

I'm a big fan of this place. The prices are fair, the cake selection is fantastic. They also have a large selection of actual meals - they are definitely not "just desserts". I got their bagel tuna melt and it was amazing.

I think it's a cozy place that is larger than it looks from the outside. The decor is a bit of a mish-mash but that doesn't matter to me. To me, the food is most important and this place is a winner.

If you have a craving for something sweet, sweet you will get. They have a large variety of delicious cakes, with cool presentation. There is also a good selection of coffees and teas to complement the cakes.

The atmosphere is just right for sitting around, relaxing, and spoiling your taste buds.

Came here for a late night snack. Sometimes I get in that mood where i just want some sort of chocolate. I think we were a little in the bag but this sobered us right up. The restaurant is very tacky. They need to update the deco. Not only that buuuut the service sucked. I ordered a slice of cake that took 15 minutes to get. The best part of it all the cake is sitting in a casing that you can see. I thought that someone else had to cut the slice. So after a while of looking around i see my server slicing the cake. OK so your telling me it takes 15 minutes to cut a slice of cake and bring to a table 2 feet away? The place wasn't even busy. There was 2 servers and 4-5 tables. Thats nothing. I used to serve so i know what it means to manage time when your handling tables, and she did not do it to well. It should take tops 5 mins to bring a slice of cake. And on top of it all the cake sucked. it was dry and blan.

If you want some real dessert head down the street to Wanda's waffles or hit up a Timothy's cafe one stop south of church and wellesley (they have really good mouthwatering cake)

Let's put it this way: I'm not in love with Just Desserts, but I often wind up there when visiting from out of town, so the fact that I've been going there for eight years should tell you something!

I've only ever had cake there, and it's usually quite tasty. There's a really impressive selection, and the pieces are substantial.

The atmosphere is a bit of a mixed bag. As other people have noted, it tends to be pretty dark. OTOH, it's always been good for our purposes: we usually go in a large group when it's getting late and we're not ready to call it a night yet. I've never had truly memorable service one way or the other, so I'll file that under "no complaints".

oh lord this place is expensive. i think a slice of cake a la mode is about $10. it's absolutely delicious, though. the decor is great, especially if you can get a seat on one of the couches. its a great place to just chill for the night. plus there's an upstairs balcony thing with pool tables.

i've gotten regular food here and it hasn't been great, but i'm ok with that because the chocolate cake is SO GOOD
