I have been going to Jumbo for as long as I can remember and they have never disappointed me whether it is lunch or dinner.

The dim sum here are scrumptious and to die for. I usually get the pork buns and shrimp dumplings since there are my favourite dishes. The food is wheeled on a cart but it comes by the tables frequently so you don't have be worried on getting hungry. Prices are fair and reasonable to other restaurants in the city since you get a bigger portion too.

The place is really busy on weekends especially before 11 in the morning so make sure to get there early or be ready to wait. Parking can be troublesome but there's usually room at the back if the spaces at the front are filled up.

This is definitely the place in Edmonton to eat good, authentic dim sum!

Ok I will first say that I have lived in Vancouver for the past 9 years so I've become very familiar with great Dimsum. That being said, I would still come back to Jumbo if I'm in the area and am craving a fix.

I went with my father and order 4-5 plates which was more than enough. It came to $31.50 which is also much more expensive than Vancouver. Sorry for the continual comparisons but I'm using it a reference for Asian cuisine.

Don't go for the decor cuz you'll be disappointed but it's no worse than any other chinese joint. Apparently the carts that were being rolled around the restaurant is not how they do it Asia anymore but it has some charm I guess. But the servers were quite pushy with their food with every pass by and they interrupted our conversation multiple times.

Their pan fried pork dumplings and steamed pork and vegetable dumplings were quite tasty and I would order it again. I ordered chicken in a bowl of rice because my dad (being Korean) expects rice with practically every meal. The jumbo shrimp rice rolls were mediocre at best and I wouldn't order the steamed beef dumplings again.

I didn't go in with high expectations for Dimsum in Edmonton and my visit to Jumbo didn't raise them or lower them.

I had my doubts about going to this place. I'm not entirely sure why, mostly the location. I've passed it on a regular basis for as long as I can remember  Happily we tried it out.

The food was so much better than I expected. There were chicken and beef skewers which were my favourite. My mom enjoyed her tripe, says it was super soft and great. Not my kind of food, but I will take her word for it. We had coconut rolls which I wish we ended up getting more of.

The woman who sat us was confused. She sat us then told us we had to move, momentary chaos, but it was sorted out. That really was my only complaint.

This is one of the better dim sum places in Edmonton.
The Dim Sum is served old style on carts so one gets to pick stuff after seeing it. A good idea as a lot of staff had trouble communicating when I asked for stuff.
It does get busy so if you are large group be prepared to wait. A smaller group or two people in my case always get seated without much of a wait.
Har Gow is above average, so are the beef meat balls. I do like the shrimp in rice noodles and the Beef on skewers with BBQ sauce is my favorite dish here. Fried items are not that great actually. Parking is quite tight and hard to get so I recommend parking a little bit away in the next lot and just walk here.
The Egg custard tart were below average and were didn't have much flavor. It is much better than the other places I have tried in Edmonton so I would recommend it over them for sure as it is authentic stuff.
    3.5 Stars.

I do not like westernized Chinese food, which is why I go to Jumbo.

Aside from having a great dim sum menu (come at peak hours for the carts, the printed menu selection is not very good), they also offer an excellent regular menu. I prefer the chinese menu (you will need to bring a friend who can read Cantonese, but it's worth it) but the regular menu does offer some great options. Ask for the pekingese style pork chop, fish maw soup or the mixed vegetables in nest - 3 of my favorites :)

Prices are quite reasonable here and they offer an affordable set menu for a group of people as well.

Customer service is fairly good and fast. The restaurant environment is not great on the eyes, but they do offer private rooms for large functions.

Came here for dim sum with the family in the morning. We were suppose to meet at 9:30am but asian time means around 10am... and apparently for everyone else too. It was popping by 10am, line at the door and everything. The carts come by pretty often. Good variety, good food.

I use soy sauce with my dim sum but no one in Canada appears to. Weird!

There's a good amount of variety here and it was filling. Delicious.

I came here for dim sum the other day and found that their dim sum menu during the week is very limited compared to morning/lunch on the weekend.

Still, we decided to give it a try. We ordered sticky rice, steamed shrimp dumplings, deep-fried shrimp dumplings with mayo, pork spare ribs in a black bean sauce, and shrimp rolls.

Everything we ordered was delish. The shrimp was juicy and tasted very fresh out of the kitchen.

The service was very polite & quick and the atmosphere, although furnishly outdated, was very calm and quiet (only because it wasn't very busy).

I have tried their actual menu items and it is also very good. If you have the cash and/or can split with a bunch of people, I recommend getting their crab and lobster dinners.

This is definitely my go-to place for a quick dim sum meal.

This is our favourite Chinese restaurant to go to and eat here regularly for dinner and sometimes for dim sum.  The dim sum is delicious and prices reasonable.  I find they give you large portions for around $4.25.  I like the sticky rice, dumpings, tofu stuffed with shrimp, shrimp cakes, and rice rolls.

The dinner dishes I've had are delicious and we've had a variety including tofu hot pot, fish, chicken, crab claw, beef, lobster with noodles, bird's nest, peaches and shrimp, and beef brisket.  I also really enjoy the tofu with vegetables soup.  They come out quickly, the service is wonderful, and I like the dessert buffet with the almond cookies and red bean soup.

When I first went to Jumbo Dim Sum it was as a visitor from Fort Mac (since I was dying up there with no real restaurants). Now that I live here, I spend most Saturday mornings there, if I wake up early enough. They definitely got me hooked after the first time.
Tea is always served but I've noticed that with Caucasians they give forks and water which is I guess normal in a Chinese restaurant.

Each plate is around 3 to 4 dollars so if you don't know what it is and it looks interesting order it anyways! It's not like you will have spent a whole lot of money on something you don't like. Most of the food is delicious anyways so I'm sure you won't have to worry about it.
Their portions are pretty decent and I find that this place has lots of meat stuffed into everything (or is it just Alberta?). Also my favourite time to go at is 10:30am because it is before the rush of lunch time and dim sum should always be brunch!

Anyone that I can get to wake up early enough to attend brunch with me I will make go. Otherwise they snooze they lose out on good food. Go try it out!

We come here for dinner and dim sum and its great. The service is efficient and the food is good. For dim sum it gets busy but the wait isn't too horrendous. The dumplings are HUGE. Good selection.

My family and I have been coming to Jumbo for the past 10 years now. We like Jumbo because we consistently get good authentic Chinese food; I am not claiming it is the best, but it also is not the worst. We always walk out with leftovers to feed us for an extra 2 days. The prices here are reasonable, and the food always comes out FAST (we're usually in and out in under an hour).

Jumbo is usually busy during the weekends, particularly close to Christmas and Chinese New Year. They do take reservations around this time, and it is highly recommended as it can get VERY busy. There is a lot of dishes offered, both for people who are feeling adventurous, or those who want a simple meal. For the full experience however, I would recommend you go with someone who knows how to read Chinese (for the specials menu), however if you can describe the dish to the servers (ie, salted fish with eggplant), they usually know what you're talking about and will order it right away for you. The portion sizes are also very generous too, and there is no sacrifice of quality over quantity. Steamed fish is guaranteed one of the best in town; the fish is always fresh and always cooked just right.

Although my experience has been primarily supper, you can still experience typical dim-sum dishes. The servers walk around the entire restaurants with open karts and will immediately rush over like sharks and present their dishes in front of you the moment you make any eye contact. This can be a bit unnerving but is also a good way to preview what you will be eating. If you're non-Chinese, it's entertaining to watch the servers yelling out the Chinese food names, then as they see you with your look of confusion, they quickly scramble for a piece of paper in their pockets with the English translations.

During supper time, there is a dessert mini-buffet available for you, stocked with red bean soup, mini-cookies, tapioca, a pudding-like dessert, and jello (yes, for the kids). The staff are friendly, and the owner, Mr. Wong, can usually be seen walking around the restaurant or at the cash register behind the bar. Once you greet yourself he always remembers you and will wave to you every time you come in on your future visits.

There is no other Chinese restaurant in Edmonton that has stood this test of time and consistently provide good food combined with great service and efficiency.

Great place for Dim Sum. They come around often with the different trays of Dim Sum delights and are very friendly serving you. The Dim Sum is excellent here and they have a good variety of items. Definitely worth going here for the Dim Sum experience.

There are more than just a couple of really good Chinese restaurants in the Westend.  Jumbo Dim Sum Dining is one that stands out though.  I bring 12/14 people out here for Chinese New Year virtually every year.  It's a night that I just want to celebrate with friends and not worry about the food or the service.  Every year, it's a mix of people experienced and inexperienced with Chinese food, and the variety and quality of the food comes through every time.

Dim Sum here is very good, but I think that downtown and the Southside still have an edge on Dim Sum in general.  The quality is fine, but I find the variety wanting.

Like all Chinese restaurants that serve mainly a Chinese clientele with a good westerner following, the English and Chinese menus are not exactly the same.  The specials are only written in Chinese. So, if you want the really authentic food, ask the staff.  What makes this a good choice for mixed groups is that the CHINESE food is authentic and done well, but the food Chinese cook for Westerners is also done well and honestly pretty tasty.  It's pretty much the only place I'll eat lemon chicken or sweet and sour pork.  Even though, it's breaded and fried, it's not too salty or too soaked in neon sauce (none of which is Chinese).

In sum, this is a really accessible restaurant that cooks food really well whether or not it's authentic Chinese or Chinatown westernised Chinese.  Service can get strained when it's busy on the weekends or Chinese New Year, but I've never had a problem with the quality of the food or the speed of the food getting to the table, even when they have to get Peking Duck out, then a soup and then the rest of the dishes; that's a tricky service to get done right.

My girlfriend and her family have gone here almost every sunday for 30 years I guess.. She has never been anywhere else at least in 19 years.

I have gone a few times now, and I cant complain about the place. The food is fantastic, the service is as good as could be expected. I have found a few friends while I was there. Its a great sunday morning experience and a fun way to change things up!

It can be very busy at times, but you know its going to be good. I love the Soo Mai (not sure how to say it) the sticky rice, an the curried squid. (I was just as suprised at that one as you will be) The Pan fried Pork dumplings go fast, and are delicious!

This place has a huge banner claiming vegetarian food is available. Yeah, like, one dish, and it was terrible. The food was not good, at all, and the wait staff just seemed like they didn't want to deal with the non-Asian crowd. In the end, we left most of the food on the plate. Yuck.

Had heard good reports of this restaurant, was not disappointed. This is one busy Dim Sum restaurant, the food was very good, very authentic and very fresh. Fried items were not greasy, and the service is excellent. I love their Sticky Rice & Jumbo Shrimp Dumplings, my wife is a fan of the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns and their Crispy Spring Rolls. A Sunday morning favorite.
