Had a huge laptop problem during finals week, and only had a week in SJ to fix it. I saw that great ratings in Yelp and decided to try JT Solutions! I called him and he gave me a quote to replace my fan, so I went over and dropped off my laptop.
But little did I know, there were bigger problems in my laptop -- an irreplaceable tiny plastic part, that would make my keyboard obsolete, would cost me more than $150! Jimmy was very helpful, and advised me on what I should do. I decided to have Jimmy to just fix the fan and I would take my sad laptop home because it would cost too much.
When I called to pick up the laptop, Jimmy told me he fixed my fan and keyboard AND my mouse! I didn't even really know my mouse was broken! He quoted me for the SAME price as before!
Jimmy is amazing and professional, and incredibly helpful! Look no more! -

Professional Care and Conduct. Very thorough in walking me through the repair. Where others wouldnt touch my hard drive damage, because it wasnt worth their time to diagnose. Jimmy took a chance on it and gave me a free diagnostic and if he couldnt fix it, there would be no fee other than the replacement logic board. In the end, it was beyond repair. Jimmy offered to keep the board and pay for it. I gave him money for his time, anyways. But it was a very kind gesture on his part. I would definitely come back for other repairs.
Support a local, skip geek squad or big repair shops. -

With the dependency on technology that we all have today, your life can seriously be turned upside DOWN when you have computer issues. Being in the valley, you have so many options, consultants, geek squads etc, it's hard to pick someone who is:
1) Reliable
2) Not some money-guzzling scam where they basically take you for every penny
3) Someone that you know other people highly recommend
4) Above all...COMPETENT
Look no further people, Jimmy is there! His professionalism and reliability is a godsend. I'm no novice to technology but when it comes to system config changes, email problems, and anything super super technical that I have no idea about...I go to Jimmy. He is the best! Don't bother going to those Costco-style tech agencies with techs who basically have no idea what they're doing and will spout out some uber techy words to make YOU feel dumb. Jimmy is efficient, responsive, and dedicated. Just look at all the other rave reviews!
Finding a good IT guy is like finding a good mechanic. You have no idea WTH is wrong but you just want it fixed, to stay fixed, and not go broke over it. Enough said....JT Computer Repair. -

A scam/virus had taken over my computer. It was a Sunday. I needed to work. JT was the only person I contacted who offered same-day service, with pick up and delivery. And he took the time to explain what was going on with my computer, offer suggestions on what I needed in terms of virus protection, and what I didn't. While it ended up taking longer than expected, I had my computer back, virus free, the same day. My computer runs better than ever. No doubt I'll be taking my business back to JT and suggest others do the same. Thanks Jimmy!

I have been looking for a GOOD local computer guy for a while now that can fix both my MAC laptops along with my old HP desktop. I just think over time both computers became very slow and almost unusable but I have a lot of important Tax documents and personal Pictures I needed to keep.
After contacting JT he advised me to upgrade both computers because they were over 7-8 years old. I have told him I do not have a lot of time due to my work schedule. He suggested he take my old computers then go to the local Frys and buy the equivalent new equipment today that is within my budget. He consulted me on each and every product he suggested and found me the best deals possible. The price he charged was stated in the beginning and never instead on more even though I knew the process was longer then what he intended it to be. This was the seling point because other places would not tell how much things would be until they got working on it.
Not only did he save all my old pictures and documents he set me up with 2 new machines and now I cannot be happier. My kids and wife are very Happy as well. I would recommend JT now to all my friend and family and hope you guys will do the same.

Finding a computer technician is like looking for an auto mechanic. Not sure who to trust and if you're in good hands.
I don't know anything about computers and didn't want to deal with the big guys so I got on Yelp and found JT Computer Repair. I gave the guy a call and he sounded pretty decent on the phone. I explained what seemed to be the problem and he quoted me based on my explanation. I told him I would call him back as I wasn't sure if I was getting a good deal. I conferred with my IT experts at work and they all said the quote was reasonable. I finally met up with Jimmy and I knew I could trust him based on his demeanor.
What I liked about this whole experience was that my computer issue was really minor and he could've lied to me but he chose not to. He only charged me for one hour of labor and the replacement battery. 5 stars for honesty and quick turnaround! -

My wife's Dell laptop was infected with malware & viruses, rendering it completely useless. I tried fixing the problem myself, but alas, my pc skills are limited at best, and so the laptop has lied dormant for the last six months, buried behind furniture in our apartment.
When it first happened, I had called some computer repair shops, both big and small, to get a quote on removing the infections. The cheapest quote was $100 minimum which was just ridiculous to me. Although I couldn't fix it myself, I knew this was not a difficult job for someone more adept at Windows machines.
Fast forward to a few days ago. I grew tired of my wife constantly borrowing my MacBook Pro, so once I was able to wrestle it from her iron-grip, I went on CraigsList to investigate laptop repair once again. That's when I came upon Jimmy's ad.
I called him up, described the situation, and immediately, he knew what was infecting her computer. He said it would likely be just a fraction of the previous lowest quotes for the job. I was amazed at how LOW that quote was so we scheduled a time for me to bring it by. Within 15 minutes, the malware was defeated. I was there for maybe twice that long, as he so kindly offered to install free anti-virus and anti-malware software to protect her laptop from further infection. He gave me instructions to complete upon getting home, which I did diligently to the letter. I was impressed to receive a follow-up call to make sure everything was humming along, which it was.
I am so happy with the job he's done! I know now that if I ever have any more problems involving her laptop, or my own, Jimmy is THE man for the job! -

So happy to have my laptop working again!! JT Computer Repair did a fantastic job with my Apple MacBook Pro and Jimmy was such a professional. As soon as I called him, he was already troubleshooting over the phone by my description of the problems I was encountering. I could tell right away that he knew his stuff and that he was a guy that would do a great job. As soon as we took it over, he got to work on it right away and it took him less than 2 days to repair it. I had to have my hard drive replaced and he was able to transfer 99.99% of the data to my new hard drive. The 0.01% was not able to transfer as it was located on an area of my old hard drive that was faulty and causing a big part of the problem. I am just so glad he was able to save and transfer as much as possible. As long as my hard drive was being replaced, I had it upgraded from 250 GB to 500 GB and while he was at it, I had my RAM upgraded from 4 GB to 8 GB, too. Now, it is like having a brand new super computer! Service was prompt, and quality of work is excellent. I think his prices are very reasonable and fair.
I am so happy to have had a great experience. If I ever have any other computer needs, I definitely will be going back. I highly recommend Jimmy! Thank you. :) -

If you need a great computer repair person, look no further.
First, I had never had to take one of my personal computers to a technician before so I had no idea who to call, but I did know that I wasn't going to one of the big chain stores. I turned to Yelp and found JT Computer Repair (who had several great reviews) not knowing what to expect. I was in a bit of a panic on a Friday at about 5pm when I called (kids schoolwork due on Monday etc). Jimmy answered the phone, I walked him through what was happening and he was quickly able to get an idea of what might be wrong and let me take the computer to him right then. I dropped the box off and he told me it would be a few hours but would call when he was done. He went and got the parts needed - called in the timeframe that he said he would and let me know that he was having a bit more trouble than expected so it would be done the next day instead of that same night (which was fine). It turns out it was due to a tiny usb device that I had left in the computer but given all his experience with Dell computers, he was able to figure out the issue and all worked as expected. When I picked up the computer he gave me the receipt for the parts he had to buy and only charged $75 for the labor.
I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am now that I know who to go to for fast, dependable work and fair prices. When I buy a new computer you can bet its Jimmy who I will go to for transferring my old data to the new computer. I even put his number in my address book!

Jimmy was great! I chose his service over the big competitors (Best Buy/Staples/Fries) b/c he's a reasonable managed side business that's working to give you the best deal - not put you on hold for 10 minutes and then disconnect - that was my experience with the Geek Squad : (
Anyway, I decided to trust the other Yelpers in trying out Jimmy's repair service. Not only did he fix my computer with minimal costs and less than a week turnaround (I had a broken fan for my HP laptop) , he gave me an idea for a temporary fix in the meantime - which I desperately needed since I couldn't afford to not have my computer overheating and not working for a few days. That is what I appreciated in Jimmy's commitment - he's looking out for you and helping your problem-solve. He even got me a discount on my new fan part/thermal cooler from HP. Since my laptop was more complicated, he charged me the upper rate of his labor which we had discussed beforehand. He kept me involved in every step of the process and there were no surprises.
I really appreciated his commitment to help and keep it reasonable - I found someone I can trust! Thanks Jimmy and Yelp! -

He was kind enough to pick it up and drop it off since he was in the area both times. He was honest, reliable and affordable. I know who to call again if I ever have a computer issue.

I called JT because my computer kept crashing for no apparent reason, and in trying to fix it, I made it worse. It wouldn't even boot.
I looked for help on Craigslist and found JT. For a very reasonable fee he promised to fix the computer. He came to my house the next day and got it to work. I paid him and he left.
30 minutes after he left my computer rebooted on it's own again despite the newly installed operating system. I called him and he asked me to bring the computer to his place so he can figure it out. I did.
In the next couple of days JT kept me updated on all the tests he had to perform (which often required pulling components out one by one to isolate the issue).
The issue it turned out was a faulty motherboard. OUCH. He laid out my options for me and we decided that we can save the computer if I buy some new components for it.
JT met me at Fry's Electronics and spent almost two hours with me selecting a new motherboard, and RAM. I got myself a larger internal hard drive as well.
JT took the parts home and basically re-built my computer. This included installing a hard drive for me just because I asked him to. When I brought the computer home it worked like a charm. Still does.
Now here's what makes JT great... ( aside from being competent, responsive, and friendly through the entire experience) ... he never charged me a penny more since that first night. Despite spending countless hours on my computer and coming to Fry's with me.
JT, you're awesome and I hope people read this review and give you their business. -

jimmy is a awesome computer tech. i took in my laptop to recover some very important photos from my crappy, virus infested laptop. i took it in, and within a few hours he calls back and tells me its ready.
i didnt have to wait at all. jimmy was easy to get a hold of and charged me a great price. he even gave me advice on what to do and not to do in the future.
i definitely recommend him to all -

Jimmy was all the Yelp reviews that stated he was very good, were correct. He is a magician. Had a rather complicated set up for adding another Roku to my existing system. Since, the one in the den was hard wired, and also had wireless router which wasn't strong enough to reach the family room, he suggested we try another stronger wireless which he picked up and the Roku for me which I paid for. However,
when he set up the Roku in the other room it turns out since, my old plasma had inputs which wouldn't let us figure out the correct input on the screen, he was able to manipulate it, so we found out the correct input and it worked beautifully, We found we had to get an HDMI cable, which as part of the time price he quoted me, we went to a nearby Radio Shack and were able to pick it up , since my old set would not let any other cable work. He had a device that also , figured out the power of the signal in the other room, and also added my wireless, so I can go far out in the backyard with the new router and it worked , since the other would not work out there.
I would highly recommend him, and he was honest, professional, and reasonable.

First time calling JT I was a bit apprehensive as I was taking a leap of faith in having a total stranger examine and attempt to fix my computer. To make a long story short, JT was honest, down to earth, knowledgable, and very professional. He took his time during our initial contact to explain what was happening to my computer and after turning it in to him to examine, he kept in constant communication indicating the process of what he was doing to fix my Computer's problems. His price was very fair and his service was very quick. I could not be happier with the service that was provided. I now feel as though I have my own IT guy to call if I ever run into any more computer related problems. I highly recommend JT and I would recommend him to any and everyone.

We had a cracked screen on on a Lenovo laptop. Jimmy identified the problem in minutes and clearly explained the problem and how to resolve it. After getting a quote from him we tried a couple of other places including 'Geek squad' at Best buy, none of them offered even close to the price Jimmy was offering. In addition they were asking for crazy fix-time like 2+ weeks. We decided to get it repaired by Jimmy, the screen was ordered online came in 3 days and Jimmy had it fixed in a couple of hours! When we asked him about a windows update problem on same machine he patiently explained how we could solve it ourselves instead of using the opportunity to make more dough. Trustworthy, fast service and best price - head to Jimmy for any laptop/PC problem in Bay area!

Jimmy is upfront and honest about his work, cost, etc. as I experienced tonight when I took my broken iBook to him. I spent about 30-45 minutes trying to figure out the best way to attack my problem and he didn't charge me a dime! Some places charge $100 just to take a look at the problem.
If you need any sort of computer repair, Jimmy is the only person I'd recommend (forget about Fry's, Best Buy, etc.).

I just moved to the area and the first week here I get a very annoying spyware bug on my laptop, so annoying! Everywhere I called for removal was going to charge me AT LEAST $100-$200. All I wanted was this one bug removed and everyone else was going to charge for removal, diagnostics, etc. I called Jimmy and he only charged me $40! His service was super fast (only took him 45 min to fix), very super nice, and would definitely recommend him in the future. I feel like I have my own person IT guy now! Thanks Jimmy!
