It is a solid 3.5 just based on the dumplings me and my partner ordered. The term 'hole-in-the-wall' is no more truer than by coming to this place, near the Joyce Skytrain Station, you come in here, and it is bare minimums at best, with a Chinese family sitting in the corner watching Asian 'soaps' on their laptop waiting for someone to come in. I know this place has been here awhile, from the white dim flourescent lights, to the kids drawing of a girl with scary hair hung on the wall, this place is family owned and run!

You can hear the pan frying, and beating of meat (or something against a board) behind the wall when you walk in. The menu is actually pretty substantial, with many items, not just dumplings (to what their name is implying). My partner helped us order lamb dumplings, and it took awhile to come out. In a bamboo steamer, layed out on cabbage, each dumpling was not uniform in looks. The menu said 8, yet we count 9 (bonus!), and a dish of vinegar mixed with garlic and oil accompanied our steamed dish right in front of us. These are some of the soupiest (not juiciest) dumplings I have ever had, it's almost like eating Xiao Long Bao.

We wondered if there were freshly made, and my partner spoke to the woman working there in Mandarin, and she said they were frozen. We found it very surprising, as they tasted fresh. The rack of dumplings came out to about $6 with tip, and I would be interested in their pan fried dumplings next time!

I can tell that the majority of their business, to keep them alive, is the take-out business, as all they did when we were the only ones sitting around, is cook, and prepare take-out food, must be for all the apartments in the area.

I returned again to sample some more of the menu, and once again I like the variety of options and the food was ok, but didn't wow me.

    I tried:

    - Lamb roujiamo.  The lamb was nice and tender, but it was overly salty from an excessive pour of soy into the sauce.  There were hints of cumin and chili, but the soy flavour overpowered them.  You can only imagine how much soy there must be to overpower those two other strong flavours!  The bread was good, but not as hot as it could be.  It was as if it had been made previously and then just quickly reheated.  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    - Stir-fried pancake with pork and veggie.  The pancake was sliced into thin strips and had a nice chew.  The pork and veggies were cooked nicely.  There wasn't that slight charring from the wok I normally like though.  It was decent, but again not wow.  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

The place still could use a really thorough deep clean it is starting to look pretty grimy.

I'm not so sure I'll be returning anytime soon as there are so many better Chinese options not far away.

The food is very good. The wontons tasted great but the soup stock itself was a bit tasteless but I never finish soup stocks anyways. I had the boiled 15 dumpling combo and it was very good. As mentioned in other reviews the dipping sauce is great with lots of garlic. My whole lunch was $10 with a tip and I'm very full. Everything seemed very fresh

The downside is that place is a bit of hole in the wall and didn't seem super clean.

The hot and sour soup isn't very good. Very not hot nor sour.
