The ambiance of the salon is totally diggable - minimalist loft-style, very bright, big mirrors and very decent music playing on low. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and both Jonathan and Catherine are perfectly bilingual, which - as an anglophone - is a rare treat!
I'll start with the only down-side to the cut, which was the time. I got my hair cut recently by Marie-Pier, the junior stylist, and it took a little over three hours from start to finish, including the wash, blow-dry and straightening. The reason for it taking so long is that (a) I have very fine, very thick and very flippy hair (it normally takes at least an hour and a half to cut it properly) and (b) Marie-Pier was the least experienced stylist there. Understandable, but my neck still got really stiff by the end of the cut.
Even so, why did I still give five stars? Because even with the clock ticking, Marie-Pier took zero shortcuts. No razors (death to razors!) which destroy the hair and give split ends, no speeding through layers leaving me with pokey little ends for me to trim off and even out myself as I discover them later on. Marie-Pier was clearly still learning some techniques as she asked for input from the other stylists as she went along, but I so appreciated that she took the time to pay such careful attention to detail and make sure everything was done right. In terms of sheer quality, this was the best haircut I've ever gotten (and because Marie-Pier is still a junior stylist, it was also one of the cheapest.) Love the haircut, love the space, love the people. Definitely a new favourite.

I am extremely picky with my hair and I must say that it is my favorite salon in Montreal. Jonathan is really cool and listens to what you're looking for. The salon looks nice, the music is chill and the prices are reasonable. Definitely recommended!
