This is a great butcher shop,
i really enjoy knowing the meat that i am buying,
they always custom cut for for me,
    do custom orders,
they will even make me a freezer pack for when i am going away on holiday.

Get to know your butcher, as they are the ones who really feed you.

This tiny grocery, tucked away on a back street in an industrial area of North Van, specializes in Scandinavian foods and meat and cheese. They stock a wide variety of sweets, cookies, crackers, preserves (such as lingonberry and cloudberry), and herring, much of it imported. They also have a nice deli counter, but I was a little disappointed to not find a wider selection of Scandinavian cheeses - there was some Jarslberg and Danbo and Gouda there, but little in the way of authentic imports.

Prices are on the high side, but that's to be expected of most specialty/import stores. I would have bought more stuff, but confess to a fear of tinned herring, of which they had a crazy selection. Also, many packages for foods that had to be prepared, such as sauce mixes, did not have English translations, and my Norwegian-speaking grandmother is not around to consult. They did however, have a great freezer full of ground meats - pork, veal, turkey, and lamb - perfect for my favourite ethnic treat, meatballs!

However, I have to confess that for most of my Scandi-food needs, I would probably just as soon source from IKEA's Swede Shop.

Traditional butcher shop in addition to the nice selection of Scandinavian deli and groceries. Its refreshing to see a shop that takes pride in their products, instead of just selling stuff they get from a wholesaler.  They age their meat and make their own sausages.  Their prices are comparable to the big chains for the same quality items. And hamburgers made from here don't taste anything like grocery hamburger - it tastes like you ground up a steak.   The difference in taste really is that noticeable.
