The pizza wasn't bad. In fact the Greek meat pizza was our favorite. The crust was thin and crispy and the cheese was really good. Delivery took almost an hour but the pizza got here still hot. Two large pizzas was $33. That seems to be similar to other places in the area. I would order from here again.

The front door is never open. There is a 5" x 5" sign made in microsoft word on the door that says "be back in 10 minutes to place order call 604-XXX-XXXX. The "back in 5 minutes sign" is yellowed and dirty because its been on the door permanently for years.

The sign out front of the shop advertises a large 2 topping for $12 but when you call to make an order its suddenly $14 ....

OK so the $12 advertised price doesnt include tax. Well $12 plus tax rounding UP equals $13.50 not $14.

    So basically FU.

No comment on the pizza because I didnt actually get one when they tried to rip me off during my first phone order.

I discovered Johnny's in a booze -fueled hunger attack at some ungodly hour, realizing that I simply had to have pizza and that most sane establishments were closed.  I've ordered it a couple times since then (at reasonable times and with less alcohol in my system) and the pizza is just as tasty.

In fact, an Italian pizza aficionado friend of mine was heartily impressed with the the margherita pizza. Fresh toppings, piping hot, crust decent, though I'm a fan of a thinner crust, this would satisfy most thin-crust picky types such as myself.

If you're on the hunt for good pizza in Van at particularly ridiculous times of the day, give Johnny's a call.

Johnny's (not to be confused with all the other pizza joints in this city named after this guy or any of the other pizza factories) has always been a bit of an enigma to me. First, the advertised hours, 4 to 4 (that's pm to am), are the strangest business hours I've ever seen for an establishment. Second, the pizza is always different. I don't order the same thing every time, but sometimes it's pretty okay and sometimes it's the lamest pie with the most canned tasting SPS I've ever had.

Tonight I finally had the standard by which I can truely judge a pizza place: the plain cheese pizza. I found a lot to like, surprisingly. The cheese was just the right level of stringy and the crust was almost a real thin crust. It's like they took the regular cheap Vancouver pizza joint crust and made it awesome. Not chewy or plastic feeling, crispy and delicious.

I feel like the sauce deserves special consideration because I've described it to people as tasting canned before. I think tonight I finally had what it's supposed to taste like. It's well spiced and tangy. They've loaded it up with herbs and it now ranks high in the running for best sauce by a cheap place.

You've finally won me over, Johnny's. I'll probably be back next week.

Three visits, all I can say is that this place is "odd". Once they wouldn't  accept cash. Once it was great. Once it was awful. Good luck!
