Pure authentic Korean food. I'm so happy there is a little diversity here in Whitby. When I first moved here 6 years ago, we had to drive to Richmond Hill/Marham for Asian food or Yonge and Sheppard for Korean. Now we don't. At one point we were coming here every Friday.

They also serve Japanese, but the Korean food is my fav. Plus at the end they always serve you fresh fruit for dessert....FREE.

BTW - Jino is the name of the owner (he's usually in the kitchen)

This is a must visit in downtown Whitby.

    Update December 2009 -
Oh NOs, they closed down.  Food was good too :-(

When we moved to Whitby, I was concerned about the diversity in food options. Living downtown and also living in city of 600K afforded us choice. Whitby is town of 110K so we expected some compromise. Surprisingly and fortuitously, no compromise is needed. The diversity of food options in Whitby is very well-rounded.

Jino is in "downtown" Whitby which is similar in look and feel as Queen St E at The Beach (or is it The Beaches, can't remember what the offish title is). It looks small from the back but upon walking in, it's a large space.

The menu had the staple Korean and Japanese dishes for a reasonable price. We ordered the sushi pizza, kampongi (sweet and spicy fried chicken) and soondubu (soft tofu in spicy soup). I made a special request to add beef to my soondubu. No issues with our very friendly server. Then the banchan (apps) came - bean sprouts tossed in sesame oil, kimchee, sweetened potato sticks, sliced radishes - yum. A little gripe is that they didn't refill our banchan but then we didn't ask either.

Food was delish! Gave us a platter of watermelon slices, grapes and orange slices as a complimentary palate cleanser in the end.

Surprise moment - they didn't charge me for the additional beef I requested.

I'm glad Jino was good because it saves me a trip downtown to get authentic Korean food.
