One of my favourite places to eat in the summer time when it's just too hot to cook. Their fried clams are beyond amazing as are their Milk Shakes.
You can take out or dine in here and I find the quality of the food to be the same for either choice. I prefer dining in with the regulars and being surrounded by some 50's throwback decor.
This isn't a place I'd recommend for groups that have plus 5 people. The place IS always busy and the waitresses can only do so much. They're great at what they do but they're not robots. -

Ate here a few times a few years ago, mainly for breakfast which was always quick and tastey. And the place was always busy! You know its good when the locals flock to it in droves. I ate at Jim's for the first time since about '03 over the weekend.
The food was just as tastey as I recall it being a few years ago. There was an issue with our order that was quickly and well rectified. We even got an apology from the kitchen crew. Though I did notice the place wasn't as busy as I recall it being in the past. Their menu isn't anything fancy, but the food is all relateable and gives you a good range of options.
If you're looking for quick, tastey, home-style food then Jim's is a good option. -

Jim's Pizza House is actually called Jim's Family Seafood Restaurant now. I went in there for the first time a couple weeks ago, not aware that it is actually a long-standing Halifax favourite. Wow. This place blew my mind. It was PACKED on a Monday night. The menu is typical Nova Scotian down-home type of food. Clams and chips, sandwiches, etc... all served with coleslaw and fries. Which is sometimes just what the doctor ordered.
I ordered the haddock burger, for which I was expecting a hard piece of deep-fried fish on a bun. The haddock was instead coated and pan-fried, being just a bit crispy (and much healthier), served with iceburg lettuce, a slice of tomato and a decent amount of tartar sauce already on the bun. There is a motherload of Kraft tartar sauce packets in a little metal basket on the table, so Jim's scores major points for that. I mean when you're going somewhere to have a deep-fried, disgustingly greasy seafood feast...you're not going to skimp on the sauce. The fries I believe are bought frozen. They taste like fries from a fry truck. Awesome. My man had pizza, which came deep-dish style absolutely loaded with toppings. I actually feel there were too many toppings; it was a tad ridiculous.
We were seated in the back room which has a view of the Bedford basin. the walls are pine or oak...or something, with lots of generic prints and nautical-themed framed photos. Everything about this place screamed classic Nova Scotia diner, and the food definitely matched. I notice there's a patio so we'll probably be hitting that up for drinks come summer (we live nearby) especially because the drink prices are freakin' incredible. It is actually only $3.75 for a glass of wine. I didn't have one that night, because I suspected it might come from a box, but still... that's pretty doable. Clancy's in the bottle was $4.25.
I can see why Jim's has legions of loyal customers and have been in business for so long. Definitely a great spot to go when you want that deep-fried seafood fix. Lots of parking, too.Listed in: Reliable Diner Action

It's really good here. The Service, the food and the atmosphere.
It's the type of place that has 'the regulars' and I know why. Big portions, reasonably priced. -

Jim's Pizza House can be found on the busy Bedford Highway, between Mount St Vincent University and the Fairview traffic lights. If you don't look carefully you might miss it - it's an unassuming little restaurant tucked in between a couple of other businesses.
When you walk in the front door, you're greeted with the scents of home cooking. If you were looking for real food served up hot and quick, then you've found your spot.
Porkchops, pasta, clams and chips - all have their place on Jim's menu. Daily specials are also offered; ask your server about their daily soup. My boyfriend's father had the split pea soup and raved about it for a solid week. (Made me wish I'd gotten one too!)
We last visited on a weekday evening in February. Although the weather outside was bitterly cold, inside Jim's was toasty and warm. We seated ourselves and with short order, our server came to start our orders. All of the food came out quickly and piping hot, an excellent start to any meal. The rest of the service didn't disappoint; my club sandwich was thick and stuffed with generous fillings. My boyfriend and his father ordered the donair platters and were very pleased with what was put in front of them.
Jim's Pizza House is a good place to hit when you want table service without the long waits that can plague more popular restaurants. -

My brother and I did lunch on a Thursday and the place was only 10% full. I have eaten here many times and overall its been a good experience. Service has always been good ans so is the food. Great view of the Bedford Basin especially from the deck in summer..

The best breakfast in the entire city!!!
I travel to Jim's Pizza House every weekend to enjoy their breakfast/brunch menu. I've never been disappointed with my meal and a lot of other people must feel the same way because the weekends are jammed packed!! In fact, sometimes I have to wait to find a parking spot and we have to stand in line at the door to wait for a table to be cleared!!
I usually get the Bacon and Egg Breakfast which includes 2 eggs (any style), 5 or more pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of toast and wonderful home style home fries. Yummmmy!! I get all of that for $5.95. You can't beat that price and I'm always stuffed when I leave.
I sometimes get their home made pancakes which a blueberry type sauce. It's like a fruit sauce that I dip them in. They are very filled though, so I have to be really hungry to order them.
If you ever stop into Jim's (which I strongly recommend it), you should try their famous milk shakes. Defiantly worth it! If you ever stop in for lunch, I recommend the fish and chips, clams and chips or the club house meal. -

Very slow service with lots of bill mistakes. We were a group of 15 so may be they were overwhelmed with the number.
