Not too close, not too far.

My buddies and I drove up from Jersey for the weekend and stayed two nights. I will start off with the trails/mountain itself.

Day 1 was a Friday so only the main lift was open, that is understandable due to the fact that it's a weekend. The mountain itself was not crowded and everything was very well groomed. So a lot of man made powder for having no snow for the past few days! A good variety of trails were open for all levels. I will have to say that there were some distances to get to certain trails at the peak (for snowboarders) were very annoying to travel due to only one lift being open, but not a huge complaint, but was hoping for more than just one lift open that day.

Day 2 was a little more crowded, but what can you expect from one of the biggest mountains on the east coast (correct me if I'm wrong). Glad to see that all the lifts were open in the morning and into the early afternoon, however a little sad that lifts started to close at around 2-3 in the afternoon. More long travels for us boarders. We purchased night lift tickets for the second night and I won't lie, my first time night boarding and it was very enjoyable. A little scary when on the lifts, but the trails were very well lit and of course less people!

Secondly, the service, the service here was amazing! Everyone from the lift operators to the people behind the counter at the lodge were super nice, friendly, and informative. We had to call housekeeping multiple times for more towels and blankets and we were always greeted with a smile when we opened the door to receive what we asked for. I think the only person that we bumped into that was a little on the unfriendly side was the hostess at the restaurant, who kind of ignored us when we walked in. I'll consider this one as a hiccup!

    Bottom Line:
Compared to any of the mountains I've ever been to, Jiminy feels like a real little resort. Aside from the overnight lodge/other lodges it also has a small convenience store, multiple restaurants (and even a brewery), souvenir shop, and pro shop. It really felt like a small resort to me. I would not even think twice about coming here again whether it was for the day or to stay the night.

Last but definitely not least, they have wind turbines that power 60% of the resorts electricity over the winter. So not only are they a great mountain, great at  snow making, have a friendly staff, and variety in trails, they are also support sustainable growth! What more can you ask for!?

Three thumbs up if it were humanly possible!

Not a place to stay we are at the country inn where we heard that it was a great resort but it is far from that.
The room is located  far from the lobby on the second floor we went through 4 different doors to get to our room in building 6. The walls are paper thin so you can here everything that is going on outside and with your neighbors. The only thing that I liked about the rooms is that the sofa bed is a temperidic bed and very comfortable.

Been here last time right after new years, granted it's a snow-less winter so I'm not rating Jiminy Peak based on snow conditions.

Overall a mediocre experience. Super expensive regular price, there are e-ticket days where you could get a lift ticket for $25, but its so crowded on those days its ridiculous. Also its a very long walk from the parking lot to the base, there are shuttles but I like to leave items in the car (like food, water, extra skis), so I return to the car many times during the day, inconvenient to have to walk so far every time.

There are no glades skiing at Jiminy Peak, they have one moguls trail but its closed every time I'm there (which has been around 4 times). They have three terrain parks, but one has only one jump and one rail, the other two are bigger but not by much. The only great thing about this resort is the night skiing, a lot of trails lighted, reasonably priced, and not as crowded. Snow making is also top notch at Jiminy.

Medium sized mountain priced like the giants in Vermont. Just add $10, and you could ski Mt Snow. So unless its an e-ticket day or your going night skiing, don't bother going here.

I grew up skiing here and love it.  I have many great memories of this resort.  I have skiied all over the country but stil find Jiminy very special.  Growing up it was much less commercialized but the recent upgrades make the experience even better.  They have great lifts, great terrain, and great specials for those that frequent the place.

There are many new lodging facilities in the area but I have only stayed at the time share village to the right of the mountain.  The base lodge is nice and there is great food on site.  I love the round house (christiansons).  The nacho grande is a great app for a ski day.

There are also nice shops at the base village which gives it a real ski town feel.

This mountain was great for me learning how to ski and continues to be a wonderful resort for families.  Whether you are experienced or not it is worth the trip here. Don't let the location fool you into thinking it is whimpy skiing.  There are a few double black diamonds that are quite challenging.

For skiing in Massachusetts this is as good as it gets.

Now granted, we were lucky in that New England has been getting more snow than usual, so that made conditions at Jiminy Peak this weekend quite reasonable.  So, even with the fair amount of ice that has developed since the last big storm, the conditions were totally workable, even for struggling beginners like us.  I'm not sure if I would be giving 5 stars during a snowless winter (ie. all machine snow) in March when I assume it's much more icy.

Anyway, we had a really fantastic time.  Lots of variety in the greens made our practice much more fun.  Also the rental staff were super competent.  Those were the most comfortable ski boots I've ever used!  I don't know if it was because they just had good quality rentals or because the guy helping me took note when I said I had wide feet, but they made the skiing much less painful.

Also, I love their windmill!  Green skiing!

I love going here & I would love to live in a ski-town.

Unfortunately, the last time I was here I almost killed myself and could've taken out several other bystanders in the process.

    Here's a quick tip:
If there was a 7 year gap since the last time you snowboarded and you decide to re-live your past glory on a mountain that is COVERED in ice, at night, while only 12 degrees outside and using an alpine board where one could easily hit 65mph...think real hard about it.

I'll see you next winter Jiminy.

Brought our group to Jiminy Peak in the Berkshires for a summer outing at their Mountain Adventure Park. The price of admission is pretty steep at $49, but it is a very good place for family-oriented fun. The area is just beautiful, and nestled in a little valley, just like a postcard or something. The facilities are nice here, bathrooms and other stuff is convenient, and it is pretty well-staffed. People here are really relaxed and not overly concerned with enforcing rules.

The price of admission covers unlimited access to the lifts for their Alpine Slide, Mountain Coaster, and mountain biking (BYOB or rent one for extra). They also have a bungee trampoline and a 20-25' pillar for rock-climbing. Get there early to grab a close parking spot and ride with little to no wait - it tends to get busier around lunch time.

These rides are geared towards children more than adults, but they're pretty enjoyable for us, too. The Alpine Slide was our favorite, because you can go down next to someone else on the other track; there's no racing officially, but if you happen to go down at the same time and trash-talk each other, no one's going to say anything.

A great plus is the Kids Zone, which features a playground, bounce house, inflatable Spider Web climbing thingy, etc. Good for toddlers and kids who can't do some of the other rides.

They also have an "Aerial Adventure Park" with rope bridges, platforms and zip-lining, though we didn't visit this part of the park.

As with any place like this, food and drink are expensive ($3 for fresh-squeezed lemonade and soda), but they allow you to bring stuff, so bring away. We even took our wheeled cooler up the 6-person lift to the top of the mountain, where we ate lunch on the balcony of the lodge there. Just beautiful and idyllic. Very memorable.

Oh yeah, almost forgot - you can have a mountaintop wedding there, overlooking that picture I uploaded. There was one there on the day we went.

Jiminy Peak is a gem of a ski area nestled in the western Berkshires, about 45 minutes due east of Albany, NY.

Jiminy features a small, pleasant base village with 2 full-service lodges (food, lockers, restrooms, etc), ski/snowboard school, rentals, country inn, 2 restaurants and gear shop. Parking is close - just a quick walk up the grade to the base village.

The mountain is relatively small, but keeps things interesting with some steep faces near the summit and nice cruisers fanning out on the edges. They have a high-speed 6 pack, so it's easy to get a lot of vertical.

I've saved the best for last. Jiminy installed a 1.5 megawatt wind turbine over the summer of 2007, allowing the mountain to produce a huge amount of clean, renewable power. If there was ever a ski resort that truly cares about the environment and energy, Jiminy is it. Not only that, but the turbine (sited near the summit) looks awesome and you get amazing views of it while riding around the resort. Really cool!

Did you know that this was the first GREEN ski resort in North America? It's powered by one massive wind turbine. There is a good variety of terrain, and mostly natural snow. In addition to good ski trails, there are also tons of clinics offered by the mountain and local groups. When my stepdad got bored with the mountain, he found a telemark clinic to join!

I'm in a family with a snowboarder, two recreational skiiers, twos expert skiier, one former racer, and (now) one telemarker, and this is one of the few mountains where we can happily ski together. If my brother and I want to go on a glade trail, my sisters can go on a groomed trail and meet us where they merge.

The lodges are charming (lots of wood-burning fireplaces), and the rental shop staff is very knowledgeable, not to mention very helpful--they let me use their manual tuning table to wax my skis.

Spent my Sat on the slopes at Jiminy Peak and it was a great time! I'm a novice and with that being said I didn't go on many of the slopes especially since it was very busy. We got there by 10am and the parking was really convenient and the shuttle was fast and efficient.

The tickets were a great deal since they had a 4 people in a car = 1 free lift ticket which made the price very reasonable. Also there's a discount for timeshare owners which was nice. I think it was $46 for an 8 hour all mountain ticket. They also allow you to bring coolers to an indoor picnic area which made lunch a super cheap event--so +1 star!

The trails well groomed, the lifts were running well, and the staff was friendly. Granted the weather was perfect so that made everything much enjoyable so no complaints on my part. The mountain coaster was +$6 (with a lift ticket purchase) and was really fun...seemed a bit unsafe but it was still a cool experience. Also they are a green resort and the windmills were a great site to see!

Overall a good experience but I will not be rushing back.

Although I've heard good reports on Jiminy Peak from friends who ski there, this review is based on a summertime visit. We held a family reunion for about 40 people there and everything went flawlessly. We rented one of the function rooms for a couple of days so we had a base of operations. It was very convenient to have the reunion events in the same building as the hotel rooms.

The rooms were actually suites and quite spacious; I believe that most are condos being rented out so they are very well maintained. The price was very reasonable, especially when compared with other places in the Berkshires during summer. The prices were also reasonable for the various mountain adventure activities, which the kids loved.

Jiminy Peak catered the main meal for us and the food was very good. We also had breakfast in the restaurant although it was a bit overpriced for what they offered. The staff was very accommodating, professional yet friendly, and I have to thank them profusely for helping us pull off a memorable family reunion.

Wow What a great place. Let me start off by saying we went there for a Winter family ski vacation with 5 kids and we had a great time.Conditions were great.  We stayed in Bentley Brook in a Two Bed Condo overlooking the slopes. There was much to do including a game room, movie theater and pool. The staff was pleasant, The rooms were clean and well appointed. The ski school staff was very good and my 5 year old learned to snowboard quite well. Overall the vacation was very reasonable and we liked the small village setting because we could let our teenager go on their own but still find them when needed.  I thought we might get bored but we skied day and night every day and had a blast.  I'm an expert and my family intermidiate skiers and boarders.  This place is not Killington or Park City but it was a great value and the kids loved it.

Great day of skiing St Paddy's day. Morning snow was fantastic. Lots of thick corn snow in the afternoon which made for a great reason to have pints on the patio in the sunshine. $17 lift tickets for St Patrick's day, what a great deal!

i love jiminy. love it. i love the fact that it is so close. i love that they have night skiing. i love that they do a state workers night (as a nyiso employee i qualify) for so cheap. i love that they have a deal where you buy a discount card for $39 and you get a free pass for any day in march (these tickets are $59 so you save $20 right off the bat) and then you get $15 off every ticket after. i love that they have a wind turbine for creating their snow (how hot is that? using a renewable resource for such a great thing?) i love that they have a skiiwee program that is only $88 for an all day lesson including lunch and ticket. i love their employees and their happy cheerful demeanors and attitudes. i love that they give you a sample of hot mulled cider when you leave.

have i mentioned that i love jiminy?

i came here for state workers night last tuesday and the riding was sublimely blissful. pure untouched snow, warm weather combined with no sound other than that of the board cutting thru the powder and the occasional whoops of joy from others being transported by such joy. there is nothing like it. the sound of the turbine was intense as well. you much experience it to understand.

if you like to do stuff in snow. go to jiminy. you too will be among those who Love Jiminy.

We stayed at the amazing time share condos, the condo was beautiful. It was quiet and out of the way, overall the resort was lovely. The only disadvantage was the large amount of Mountain Bikers on the mountain... this was only a disadvantage because it made me jealous of there nice down hill bikes, so really it wasn't much of a disadvantage.

Just came back from a weekend at Jiminy Peak and had a great time.  We enrolled our 3 year old and 6 year old in the Ski-Wee programs and were very impressed with the ski instructors, the level of skill our children learned and the fun they had throughout the day!  Best was we got report cards at the end so we now know where to start them off next time.  Great program to get your kids on the mountain!

I visited Jiminy a couple of years ago my self and on friend drove up there on a whim.  We arrived at about 3:30 or 4:00am and they were so accommodating they let us stay in a room for the rest of that night free of charge and then we stayed another night for around $200 per person.  That included a lift ticket for 2 days and nights and this is great because 75% of there trails are open until about 8 or 10.

Just under and hour from Delmar - very easy and bucolic drive in the summer. First trip for us with a 4 and 5 year old for the adventure park. Arrived right at 10 AM to avoid attraction lines. WE did unlimited pass for the kids $22 each and a book of 6 passes for $44. WHile not a cheap day, it was ok for the 3.5 hours of fun we had before our kids reached their limit (it was a strong sun).
Mountain Coaster - truly an adrenaline thrill. Kids loved it and we did it twice, recommed at least two times. Alpine slide was fun, but a little less comfortable with two in the sled.
We did the tramploline harness - the girls had fun, and they give you 5 minutes, but the set up process for each kid takes almost 5 minutes and the line moves very slow with 3 or 4 stations. The resort should provide some shade for the cue line.
Adventure park is relaly for older kids, but they have a goo bit for the younger set - playground, covered picnique area, inflatable bounce house, and smaller ropes course type of features.
The actual ropes courses look amazing and challenging. Another time for sure.
We packed our own cooler and enjoyed a lunch in the shade. Overall the resort has nice curb appeal, was clean and there was solid presence of staff around the park.

I just returned from a weekend trip to Jiminy Peak. During January I had been skiing at some much larger scale resorts, so I was a little concerned that Jiminy Peak would be a letdown. It wasn't at all. The mountain is certainly not going to blow anyone away with its size, but there was a nice mix of challenging and not so challenging trails and terrain and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

We skied on a Sunday and a Monday and even on Sunday the crowds were not bad. The main lift to the top is a high speed six seater so even when there was a longer line, it moved quickly.

I was a little concerned about the conditions since the Berkshires hadn't experienced any big snow in quite a while at the time of our visit. I needn't have worried.

The enormous wind turbine, Zephyr, produces electricity. This greatly offsets the resort's snowmaking costs, allowing them to make more snow. So even though there were only a few inches of natural snow on the ground, the trails were in good condition with the ice only appearing late in the day on some of steeper slopes near the top.
