Review from Good Food K.
Toronto, ON
I had a few hours to kill while getting my guitar repaired by a talented Hamilton guitar tech. I drove around looking for a place to eat. The name Jet Cafe sounded like it might be a cool place. As I had already paid for parking and there was nothing else around but scruffy, disgusting store fronts I ventured in.
This place is a sh**-hole in every sense of the word. The ugly interior (Yellow stucco walls with red and blue trim) looked like it had been decorated by a four year-old. It was dirty. The chalk scrawled menu boards were hap-hazard and hard to read.
The two women behind the counter were busy discussing some personal problems in low voices and took quite a while to acknowledge me. I almost walked out and should have.
I ordered an omelet with smoked salmon. It was filled with onions which were basically raw, a smattering of processed cheese, a few mushrooms, a few leaves of spinach and the kind of dried out smoked salmon you see wrapped on styrofoam trays at the grocery store. This was an appalling assembly of mismatched ingredients that erroneously found themselves together inside an egg blanket.
The coffee ("Kick-Ass" brand) was so weak it was probably made from as little as four coffee beans. It did not kick ass!
In desperation I ate some of it and it was truly horrible. The toast was the only edible item.
I had to use the washroom before I left and not surprisingly it was a filthy ruin.
To my astonishment, people began to fill the place just as I was leaving.
Calling what they serve "food" would be a huge exaggeration.
