We buy most of our groceries at Jerry's and are always pleasantly surprised by the quality and range of what they carry.
We find that the prices are comparable to many of the large supermarket chains-- sometimes cheaper, sometimes more expensive.
My husband loves the sausages and burgers. Stopping on the way home to buy one fresh burger to pop on the grill is quite convenient. The butchers are quite knowledgeable.
The dried pasta selection is mind boggling and we appreciate that they carry semolina flour for making fresh pasta.
They also have a wide selection of decorative plants, vegetables and herbs in the summer.
The only thing we've discovered so far that they don't carry is chipotle in adobo. Some products are not always on the shelves (like my husband's favorite Italian cookies), but they usually return within a few days. I only wish that they would stop packaging most of the fresh produce in styrofoam and plastic wrap, it's wasteful and seems to lead to the produce going bad faster.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I am actually surprised that Jerry's is so popular. Myself my boyfriend and my best friend all live in the area of Jerry's and sometimes its more convenient to to go to this store. The 3 of us do have high standards in the quality of produce and meats. Now the butcher shop is the best and only thing I will purchase from them but If you don't mind higher prices for rotten veg (my experience being 5 x in a row!!) then by all means.. but I prefer Plank Road Market is definitely of better quality, not as much selection but the basics in what is needed...Sobeys or Loblaws for exotics or a more serious shop.. No Frills for economic..

Jerry's is an oasis of fine food ( by which I mean good regular high quality food, not that poncified $8/ mushroom stuff) in an otherwise barren land.
I live a little south in little India and am happy that on any given day I can eat fresh rambutan and chumchum but by gum, sometimes you need a little red meat and a bit of pasta, and Jerry's is where I go for that.
They also have a pretty decent selection of whole grains if you've got someone coming over who can't tolerate wheat or oats or other standard grainy fare. The veggies are also good but a bit pricey - I head to the veggie store kitty corner to jerry's for that stuff.
The butchers are friendly and informed and pleasant. -

I've lived close to Jerry's for the last 13 years and have seen it transform with the neighbourhood. When i was a kid Jerry's was mostly an Italian market that catered to the masses that lived in and around. Fast forward 30 years and they have seen the changing times and have updated products to organic, fair trade, gluten-free and so called "canadian cuts" of meat, deli, cheese and produce.Plus unique up-scale items. They know what their new clients want. I appreciate that. The staff is very friendly (except for one guy who always has a frown on). I don't do a big shop there but for convenience I do shop there quite a bit for the things I forget and when I really don't feel like going to the big supermarket. The produce has really picked up, I found that it was not that fresh for some time but in the last couple of years the quality has been up to snuff. They have a full service deli & butcher at the back. They are pricey on almost everything in the store (compared to big box) but being a neighbourhood market I try to get over it and support local business.
