I've been a patron of Jerome since 2006 when my stylist Susan C. was recommended to me. Even though I have since moved away from Calgary, I still make a point to go see her whenever I'm in town because she's just that fantastic!

The new building is a huge improvement. While the main reception area is on the ground floor, all of the hair business happens on the second floor. There are windows lining every wall allowing plenty of natural lighting to enter in. The place always has a busy feel to it (in a good way) and everyone is friendly and attentive.

But why am I talking about the salon when I should be talking about Susan?? I definitely recommend her services if you need a cut and/or colour. She always knows how to take your vision and make it a flattering reality. She has tons of experience and it really shows. I always get tons of compliments when I show off my new hairdo. Besides being an extremely talented stylist, Susan is such a sweetheart. It's always a pleasure to catch up with her.

While Jerome is on the pricey side, the quality of service is absolutely worth it. I always leave feeling like a VIP.

Spent an hour at Jerome yesterday. Love the building and the inconspicuous entrance through the underground parkade. This was my second visit and both have been great. Alanna W. who was recommended to me through twitter cuts my hair. She is awesome! Lively banter and many laughs.
I recommend Jeromes and Alanna to anyone. I dont claim to know much about hair design as I dont really have much but the space is great and the conversation effortless.

I've been trying to find a great stylist for some time. After a few hair mishaps, I thought I'd try Jerome because of their high reviews.

The building is quite nice - I didn't bother trying to squeeze my car into their parkade and opted for street parking instead. Upon walking into the salon, I was whisked upstairs to a waiting room full of people with their noses in the air. I thought this part of my first visit to Jerome was a bit ridiculous. Apparently this is where Calgary's rich and famous come. It's Calgary, everyone has money here. Come on people.

My stylist was Nicola, and she was very attentive to what I wanted. The cut and colour wasn't anything overly unique or special, but she was a good stylist and someone I'd return to. The pricing was quite average for a mid-level stylist.

I'll stay at Jerome salon for now, however,  I could do without the snobby middle-aged ladies.

Jerome's is my go-to salon for a good hair cut. Sonja P cuts a mean bob! I love the new salon space too. The old salon was great, but the new second floor space has great natural light and contemporary styling.

An appointment for a hair cut starts at the washing station. I think they use stylists-in-training to do the washing? They offer a scalp massage as part of the wash, so relaxing!!! Just make sure to leave a tip for the washer :) I'm guessing that each stylist has a different cutting technique, but Sonia usually cuts my hair dry with a razor blade, especially if I'm getting a shorter style. I think this is a more advanced technique? I don't really know that much about hair styling, but it always looks great. She also does complimentary bang trims inbetween appointments (again, don't forget to tip).

I'll admit that Jerome's is an expensive salon, and I won't go if I'm in a long-hair-phase and just getting a trim. Although sometimes I feel like treating myself and I go anyways...

They treat you extremely well, the new place is beautiful, but my stylist did not do much.  (I had asked for a cut and color).  She said my hair was too damaged to color (I agree) but when it came to the cut, she just spent a couple of minutes cutting the split ends, styled it and then charged me $125 plus tax.

I was extremely disappointed.  For what she actually did (the cut) I could have gone to one of those fast cut places, paid $10 and gotten the same.

Now, that was just MY experience, and as I said very disappointing.

I have been blessed with some great hair stylists in my day, and Vicki Casella is far and above a true favorite. A master of her craft, she regales your hair with patterns and colours.

An experience at Jerome's is just that, an experience. Showing up a little early? Don't worry, there is abundant shopping, comfy chairs and free flowing beverage service, rivaling the local barista.

Sitting in the chair I allow Vicki to get a "feel" for what I should have done. I am a firm believer in allowing someone to excel in their craft. Whether that be the local florist or my fave colourist many miles away.

Vicki takes personal care of each client, shampooing each if she has time , and ensuring that the colour matches both the style and shape of the cut.

Vicki is not a hair stylist however and you can either pay someone else for a blowout or do it yourself. I personally always love poking around the pots and potions, using a little of everything. So this isn't an issue for me, but if you must have a pristine blowout just make the appointments at the same time.

The price does reflect the caliber of service, but so does the hair, so save your loonies and twoonies and get'er done. Then get a fan and take modelesk photos to post on Yelp. There's a little Twiggy in all of us.

Bottom line...this fashion plate of a salon gets the creative juices flowing, so get ready to be blown away.

Love the new building and the airy space within...there's finally natural light for the stylists to work with!  Also love that there's now indoor parking albeit limited.
