A venerable institution in the High Park/Junction area. This is one of the few bars that has it's kitchen open until 2:00 a.m. in this area. It's not my main bar, but I do rate it as one of my primary late-night spots, due to it's kitchen.

The food, in general, is good -- and goes beyond traditional pub good with its customizable pizza and Mexican food options.

A great selection of local and premium beer is another plus. They don't have many local micro-brews, but do stock Alexander Keiths' full compliment of brews on tap. Prices for these beers is reasonable.

If you love playing pool, or love to sing Karaoke, this is the bar for you (I do neither). For watching sports events, this is my main bar due to their 100" projection HDTV screen.

This is even one of the few bars in Parkdale--High Park that have the washrooms on the ground floor, which is a big plus if you have friends that are mobility impaired.

There are daily food specials that include 50 cent wings on Monday and Tuesday evenings; 8oz Burgers on Wednesday evenings: and full-rack ribs on Thursday. I think their wings are very good: moist and juicy.

I recommend this place highly, provided you don't mind the pool-shark or Karaoke atmosphere.

Only reason to find yourself here is if you run out of beer at home and live nearby! The place stinks of all the tobacco smoke from years gone by. They may have tried new things with the food, but I just don't trust the freshness!

Generally a bad experience.  Waitress cleaned the table by wiping her hand across it.  Quick order of food took a long time, waiting for the cheque also took a long time.  Drunken patrons at bar swearing loudly and the management did nothing.  Nachos were stale.  Overall a dirty, low class place, and I will never go back.  Don't be fooled thinking this is like other English pubs, like the Firkin franchise!

UPDATE:  I just discovered that they tried to put through a second charge on my credit card bill.  AVOID THIS PLACE, AND IF YOU HAVE TO GO, PAY BY CASH!

Karaoke's ok (you never realize how horrible your regular kj is until you get a half decent one) and the food and drinks are tasty. I got a Cajun chicken sandwich that was tasty enough. Ordered a Greek salad with it and got fries. The waitress was kind enough to bring a replacement, but it turned out I should have stuck with the fries.

I'd drop a half star if I could, but Yelp don't love me that much.  Damn you, Yelp.  Let me half star these guys.

Went for UFC 100 [first time watching UFC, and this was the only place in the area that showed it]  Got there at about 9:30pm, and at 10 they started into the Karaoke.  This was my first time being in a bar where people sing, so it was pretty funny actually.  There's nothing like hearing a 60 year old intoxicated man belt out 'New York New York."  I was amazed that some people were pretty good minus the DJ who wore a Tie-Dye shirt, and sang half the songs himself.

Draft beers cost about $7 each.  I didn't order any food or look at the menu [for which my belly the next day was chanting the mantra "thank you... peace on earth."]

The atmosphere increased considerably as the night progressed when hoards of people crowded the bar for the UFC.  What struck me as odd about this pub were the conflicting medias/attractions.  Some people came for UFC, others for Karaoke.  But which is it?    For at least an hour they did both.   I found it to be an odd combination - Karaoke music & large sweaty men pummeling each other mercilessly on a big screen.  At one point they turned off the Karaoke for an hour or so to focus on the main events of UFC.

In conclusion, this place was fine for what it was  - only bar in the area to show pay-per-view UFC event.  But for any other purpose, I would skip it.  I don't know if I could take the singing again.

Jekyl and Hyde is a huge bar. The skinny patio littered with clusters of tiny tables that can be clumped together are a great warm weather option, but within is where the action goes down. Inside, seating varies from stools up at the bar, large tables, and booths.

The servers are seasoned and deal well with large crowds. There are a good number of local and import drafts to choose from. The grilled salmon was reported to be super moist and tasty and the chili con carne alright as well.

There are two reasons to visit and they are 1) sports games on the many screens throughout the bar and 2) karaoke on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting promptly at 10pm. I could really do without the guitar hero interludes, but the song selection is huge and if your song isn't listed in the book that's thicker than a Yellow Pages, the DJ can even play an amazing keyboard accompaniment for you - as long as you know all the lyrics by heart. But with a selection that spans Tenacious D's "F*ck Her Gently" to "Defying Gravity" (from the Wicked musical soundtrack but made famous by Glee) and a diverse enough cast of characters to sing them, you're bound to have a good time (or at least a good laugh). I myself had my first ever solo karaoke debut (of Neil Sedaka's Breaking Up is Hard to Do) here and am now hooked.

They might not know how to (or just don't have the rights to) spell Jekyll properly, but there are guaranteed to be way less spelling mistakes on the karaoke screen than at your current norebang of choice.

Whenever I'm in Toronto I usually visit this place at least a couple of times. The pub is in a prime location directly across from the subway station making it easily accessible in my tourist wanderings. The food is affordable and fairly standard pub-fare. The two things that make it stand out for me are that there are a number of vegetarian options and food is served all day and night. The cheese bites go incredibly well with beer during the karaoke events or if daytime dining is more of your thing the pizza is worth trying.

In terms of entertainment, I've never seen anything other than karaoke going on, but that's not a problem for me as it can get pretty entertaining. There is a good selection of songs and easily one of the craziest and most diverse crowds I've come across in my karaoke travels.

The only thing holding back a five-star rating from me is that I have witnessed a couple of staff members acting like jerks to customers and other staff members. I get supremely annoyed with that kind of unprofessionalism. That said, most of the evening staff is great.

This place isn't the high-end sort of scene but if you're looking for some casual fun and late-night food you should definitely stop by on a Friday or Saturday night.
